Adventure Fantasy Science Fiction

A day later

I woke up with a gasp, sitting up quickly and blinking my eyes at the bright light.

I was in a glass container, surrounded by rows and rows of what I’d call scientists.

The man from the presentation stood in front of a keypad on one side, looking at me with a tight smile.

“Greetings Skyler.” He said, pushing a button on the keypad and making his voice come from a speaker above me.

I forced a scowl, even though I was terrified.

“Where am I?” I asked, my voice shaking.

The man shrugged.

“In the labs. We’re studying your DNA.” The man said, as if it was no big deal that I was being held captive.

“Why are you studying my DNA? I’m human, so that makes no sense.” I said, standing up now and walking to where only the glass separated me from the man.

I could see him laugh, then he clicked the button again to speak.

“Oh but you're not, Skyler. Not even close.” He said, grinning.

I could see all the swirling colors in his gold eyes.

“That’s impossible. I have human parents, there’s no way I’m not human.” I said, narrowing my eyes at him.

The man shook his head and clicked the button.

“You were taken at birth. Your true parents are from different planets, or realms. I’m surprised you haven’t noticed yet.” He said, looking me straight in the eye.

I crouched down, shaking my head.

“H-how? I promise you, I didn’t know! Please, I didn’t do anything!” I said, looking away.

It was silent, and I looked up to see the man had left.

He had left me to question my whole existence.

Was I really not human?

Or was he just lying to me to see how I reacted?

“We’re going to let you out now. Don’t try anything, you're being watched.” A female voice said, and I looked up to see a light brown haired woman with an unwavering gaze.

Then she turned away, pressing a button.

Suddenly, the glass container made a beeping noise, then the walls were lifted up and I was free.

I could hear people talking in low voices from the other side of the room.

A hand grabbed my arm and pulled me up.

It was the woman.

“Get up, it's time you meet the others.” She said, starting to pull me across the room.

I stumbled for a few steps, but regained my footing and followed her out a metal push-pull door.

We were in a dimly lit hallway, and I glanced over at the woman.

“Who are you? Where am I? Whats ha-” The woman glared at me, making me shut my mouth.

“No questions. Just follow me.” She said, and we continued walking.

We reached another push-pull door and she pulled it open, shoving me inside.

“Stay here. Don’t try to escape. Even if you do, you're not going to make it very far.”

I watched the door fall behind her and heard as a lock slid closed.

I wasn’t going anywhere, that was for sure.

I turned around and looked around the room.

It was larger, with several bunk beds and nightstands. A doorway was on the right side of the room, and I walked over to it, looking inside. It was a restroom with two sinks and two doors which were open, each leading to an even smaller room with one toilet. I pulled back and sighed, walking over to one of the beds and sitting down on it, my head in my hands.

My parents weren’t human.

I didn’t know what to think about that. If they weren’t human, then what were they?

I scanned my memory for types of aliens. Kree, Skrull, and Asgardian were the only three I could think of.

Another question popped into my head.

Were they both the same species, or different?

I snapped my head up when the door I had come through was thrown open again and a blonde haired boy who looked about my age, sixteen, was shoved in.

He watched the door shut as well, and I heard the click of the lock again.

The boy turned around, scanning the room till his eyes landed on me.

His eyes were wide, and I could see he was just as terrified and confused as I was.

He walked over and stopped in front of me.

“Where are we?” He asked, a definite tremor in his voice.

I looked down at my feet.

“I don’t know. I don’t know anything.” I said, closing my eyes with a frustrated sigh.

“Who are you?” He asked, and I looked up, a bit surprised.

“Skyler Katlyn.” I answered him, and I saw a bit of the terror in his eyes fade.

“You're like me. They took you, didn’t they? You didn’t want to go, so they took you.” He said, sitting next to me.

I nodded, sighing and putting my head back in my hands.

“My name’s Mark. Mark Turner.”

I looked up at him as he said that, brushing hair out of my face.

“I...guess I’m supposed to say, nice to meet you, but this isn’t really the best of circumstances to say that.” I said, making him laugh, surprisingly enough.

“Same here.” He said after he was done laughing.

I smiled slightly, just as the door opened again, and a furious, curly haired red head was thrown in too.

“Let me out of here, you stupid bunch of phsycos!” She said after the door had shut, pounding her fists on the door.

Mark and I watched as she slid to the floor, suddenly going quiet.

“Is she okay?” Mark asked, turning to me.

The girl whipped around, her eyes landing on Mark, then me.

“So are you the others?” She asked, her voice lower and more somber than before.

I exchanged a look with Mark.

“I guess so. We’re not entirely sure.” I said as the girl stood up and sat down next to me.

“My name’s Marian, please to meet you, I guess. Though it's really not.”

Mark laughed, but stopped when the girl gave him a scathing look.

“What's so funny? Never met a Marian before?” She asked, a bit harshly.

Mark shook his head with a sly smile.

“It's just, Skyler said the same thing.”

Marian looked over at me with raised eyebrows.

“I’m guessing your Skyler.” She said, meeting my eyes.

I nodded, forcing a small smile.

“Yes, I am. And this is Mark. we just arrived here like ten minutes ago, same as you.” I said, as a matter-of-factly.

Marian let out a frustrated sigh.

“So we’re stuck here. How is this much better than that glass circle?” Marian said, rolling her eyes.

“I mean… at least we have better company.” Mark said quietly.

Silence followed because we all agreed.

Over the next hour, twenty-two other kids arrived, ranging from fourteen to seventeen years old.

There was Jamison. A fidgety fifteen year old with a pessimistic attitude.

There was April. A quiet fourteen year old that hadn't said a word.

There was Chris, Parker, Evan, Lisa, Lauran, Jacob, Grace, Malachi, Valarie, Kara, George, Rachel, Sophie, Kingston, John, River, Sarah, Lily, Talor, and Reagan.

All of them were scared at first, but eased up when they realized they weren’t the only ones that had been through the almost exact same event.

There was one difference between me, and the rest of them.

I was the only one that had been told that I was alien.

The rest were simply called, “oddities of mankind,” as if they were a disease.

I hadn’t told them what the man had said to me, or at least, I hadn’t told them the truth.

Because if I did, I had a feeling they wouldn’t trust me.

I didn’t want to be secluded when I was just starting to fit in.

“The program has started, sir.” The man with gold eyes said, his hands respectively in front of him.

“Good. And Subject 43?” Another voice said, coming from a black, leather chair, which was facing away from the man.

“She is aware of her… difference from the rest. But from what I’ve seen, she isn’t willing to tell just yet.”

There was silence.

“Is that going to be a problem, Mr. Reverend?” The voice from the chair said.

Mr. Reverend gulped before responding.

“Not at all, sir. Not at all.”

The chair turned around to show a darker skinned man with a grim expression.

“Then go. Until you have some actually useful information, go.”

Mr. Reverend dipped his head and exited the room quickly.

The man in the chair sighed, pulling out a small, electronic device.

Multiple words were shown on the screen.

But the man didn’t look at those, only one near the very top.

Silverwing.

Okay, so TECHNICALLY, I’m not thirteen YET. But you win, so wow, on your first guess. That is fantastic, good job! Let me know which character you want in my book, and which book.(Since you like Marvel, I would suggest Silverwing, but it doesn’t have to be. I need as many characters as I can get, lol) And also, am I really that obvious about my age? That’s crazy! Guess it’s just the way I talk, huh.

Yes, I would like to be in Silverwing. My character is a boy named Galen. Description: Hair: longish, white-blond. Eyes: Pale silver. Body and clothes: Short and muscular. Dark clothing. Personality: Really quiet, but fights a lot. Doesn't like to be told what to do. Let me know if you need any other information.

Okay. Any powers? Any specific time you want them to show up? Who do they work for(can be themselves or some other random organizations)? How old are they? Are they brainwashed too? Are they alien? And do you have a preference on their relationship with Skyler(doesn’t have to be dating)?

He is sort of an alien, but he is what is called a Vilkaas, (basically a werewolf.) So he can turn into a black and silver wolf. In human form, he looks mostly normal. He is twenty. Can he be someone who arrived first and got brainwashed for a while before everyone else arrived? If that doesn't work, that's fine. I would rather he has no relationships at all.

Mkay, got it! Totally fine, everything’s perfect! I’ll work on it soon. Also, you think he’d be good as a trainer? I probably need one of those characters, so that would be awesome! But only if your okay with it.
