The ending to part 2...

“He told us he saw his cousin shoot you in the abdomen, then he killed him and went to go take you to us so you could get treated. It’s up to you what happens to this boy” It’s now my turn talk. This boys life rests in the palms of my hands, he will either be a prisoner of war, executed right away, sent back to Germany or start a new life in the U.S.

“I say this boy will be sent to the U.S and given to a loving family. He doesn’t deserve to go back to the hell hole called Germany” The General smiles at me and nods. I look over to the boy and see his relieved face as he silently cries, hopefully tears of joy.

“Ok, we’ll send him back with you and the other soldiers within the next couple days” He and Commander Jones stand up and start to head to the door.

“What do you mean “send him back with you…”?”I stand up the best I can without hurting myself or taking out the stitches.

“Although only 2% of our soldiers were killed, 60% were injured very badly, including you. The injured soldiers go home and rest up before going back onto the battlefield. Heal quickly and I’ll see you when you get back” He dips down and walks out of the cabin with Jones at his back, the boy jumps up and quickly follows.

I get up and walk to Logan, we meet half way and he gives me a soft but loving hug. He makes sure not to press too hard so he doesn’t hurt me but I’ll get shot a million times if it means he’ll give one tight hug. When hugging your loved one pain doesn’t exist. At least in my world.

“I’m so happy you’re ok” he says still not breaking the connection.

“I’m glad you’re not dead” I start to loosen my arms and the hug dies down. I look into his eyes and see my family in them. I’m going home.

This post was short so I needed extra words so I could submit my story, this information is not mine it is from Britanica, again I just needed some fill in words so I could post this story. You don't have to read it. Part 3 will be posted under next weeks writing prompt "Format your story in the style of diary entries".

World War II, also called Second World War, conflict that involved virtually every part of the world during the years 1939–45. The principal belligerents were the Axis powers—Germany, Italy, and Japan—and the Allies—France, Great Britain, the United States, the Soviet Union, and, to a lesser extent, China. The war was in many respects a continuation, after an uneasy 20-year hiatus, of the disputes left unsettled by World War I. The 40,000,000–50,000,000 deaths incurred in World War II make it the bloodiest conflict, as well as the largest war, in history.World War II, also called Second World War, conflict that involved virtually every part of the world during the years 1939–45.
