Her name was Daisy. She worked in a coffee shop. She liked him. But she didn't know how he felt. He came in everyday. To see her. She was bold. But not in front of him. Her family didn't like that. He was bold too. His family approved. They played games. Indirect games.
He came in everyday. At 7:30 am. Before college started. He would always order a simple Latte. Same thing, for a semester.
He came in on the first day. The welcome bells jingled. Blood rushed up her cheeks, making her blush. He came up to the counter, decorated with fall decorations.
"Hi Lily, could I have a latte?" He asked.
"Um, sure, but my name is Daisy." She replied.
"Thanks, Jasmine." He said with a smirk on his handsome face.
As her cheeks flushed, she asked "Your name?"
"You don't know my name?" He asked.
"No, I just write you down as 'good-looking latte' " she tried to mimic his perfect smirk.
"Denver. Or Den. Or Fox." He replied.
"Fox?" She asked, amused.
"Yeah, it's my nickname."
A hearty laugh slipped through her lips.
"What? It's my nickname! Tulip, it's my nickname!" He protested.
He chuckled as his pearly teeth showed.
As she ripped the sugar packet to add sugar to the latte, he spoke.
"Hold the sugar, you're sweet enough for me." He looked up into her brown eyes.
"It's getting hot in here Liv, could you turn up the AC?" She said, staring right back in his eyes.
"I'm feeling something is brewing here, could I heat it up?" Olivia, her co-worker asked.
"Yeah, by leaving us alone." Her mouth formed the words.
He chuckled again and sat down on his usual spot.
He opened up his laptop, and began to write.
"That's the one for you." Olivia said as she snapped Daisy out of her daydream.
"W-what? Yeah, sure."
Olivia chuckled as she wiped the counter. The bells rang again. Her mom entered.
"Hey Honey!" Her mom said.
"M-mom! What are you doing here?" Asked Daisy wide-eyed.
"Nothing hon, could you get me a Mocha?" Her mom asked as she half hugged her.
"Sure." She said.
"Oh gosh, your mom?" Olivia asked wide-eyed.
She added the coffee, and everything else, and gave it.
"Ooh, honey, who's that?" She asked very visibly pointing to Denver.
She looked over, and gave a sympathetic smile when she caught him looking.
"Mom." She grumbled.
"Aw, it's okay. He's cute."
"Mom!" She grumbled not so secretly.
"Hehe, I'll leave you now." She said.
Before leaving, she turned around and winked at Olivia.
It was 7:45 and she had to leave. She decided to ask one last customer. Only because it was her duty as a barista and definitely not because the customer was so adorably cute.
"Anything I can get you?" She asked Denver.
"A cookie, the bill, and… your number?" He said almost coolly.
"I rarely make exceptions." She said.
"Oh, okay, have a good day." He said without his usual smirk.
She turned around and scribbled his bill.
"I know you can feel me angry-staring at you." Olivia said.
"I know that you know that I'm gonna ignore you." She responded.
"Ugh, I hate you." Olivia grumbled.
"Ya know you don't!" She said grinning.
As she gave the bill, he was by the door. She gave it to him, with a note.
His eyes shot up, giving her the cutest smile ever, as he left. Olivia left. She packed her bag, and checked the time. 7:55 AM.
Oh noodles screw me and my lovesick heart I'm lateeee
She jogged after the bus, seeing it was just out of reach. Fudge-biscuits. She ran, but then stopped panting.
I look in good shape, but i really need to cut down on cookies.
She could hear the faint hum of a motorcycle on the clean, flat road. "Late again?" Greeted a familiar voice.
"Liv! Oh thank Nutella, you're a lifesaver." She said as she hopped onto the black-yellow bike.
"Sure am." Liv responded.
Bzzz. Bzzz. Bzzz.
"Ms. Lewis, I would highly appreciate it if you would not receive texts during class. If not, I would have no choice but to take your phone."
"Yes Ma'am." She responded.
Once the teacher looked away, she opened her phone.
