HenryThe party had balloons that’s for sure. They were scattered everywhere across the ballroom and clinged onto the wooden ceiling. They would not let go. Cake was on the table and cake forks were next to them, waiting for a person to pick them up. The toffee cookies were close to it with vanilla icecream and chocolate pudding. I licked my lips when I saw the strawberry tart at the end of the room. I wish I could bite into it, My mouth full of whipped cream and jam… But I know it will be a tough match to get it. It is a prize for the g...
Cleaning up after a party is harder than you think. You would be able to spot pieces of popcorn scattered across the ground. You would see crunched chips on the seats and cupcake crumbs in the dining room. You may spot trampled toast that had fallen of the plate. Maybe even glance at a rotten relish that had not been cleaned up when someone spilt it. Hopefully not the purified plums which has been unliked by a guest. All these things are what we see now. I glance up at Fritz who was care fully picking up some frightful fish in one hand and p...
My tear stained cheeks fell towards the ground. Ava’s eyes began to close. “No!” I screamed but I knew I could not do anything about it. Her hoarse voice sounded like a drum “I…Love…You…Olivia” Those words really tore my heart forming puddles on the hard ground. I wish we had never gone to this party. Otherwise my sister would have lived. “Please don’t die!” I stammer in a sob. Then Ava breathed in a lungful of air and stopped, her whole body left motionless. She was dead and I knew it. But I was not going to give up.“Ava? please talk to me!...

I go to the beach today. The light was blinding, killing me so I wear my sunglasses but that is no help either. It is summer today and my Mum continuasly was trying to convince me to go to the beach. I am really forced in the end because I was carried into the car when I refused. When we ‘arrive at our destination’ as our GPS said Mum takes me out of the car to see the ‘Beautiful scenery’ Really it looks like a black blanket covering land. I prefer yellow sand. Black is so boring. I breathe a lungful of salty air. I spit it out and go to the...
The lights were on. Alice squinted her eyes, fighted back to ajust. The walls were painted white so it was even harder. Finally the figures shaped into vision as everything came back into place in a blurry form. “Wake up!” Cried Chester, presumaly the one who flicked the switch. Alice rubbed her eyes once more. She was used to his daily routine.1. Wake up my sister, Alice.Chester was already up and getting changed into his clothes. Alice was too tired to even think about anything so she tried to get to sleep. Obviously having a brother like ...
CW: fire The candle flickered. When the night howled. It was the source of light everyone needed. Darkness fighted back but cowarded away, waiting for a time to return. Even the wax burned away into the unknown The candle danced. As it lit up the world of gloom. All the children’s fears would sink away and evaporate into the damp air. All ghosts would howl and run as the light spreads like a bushfire. All monsters under beds would growl and sneak away into the dead of night. Spiders would crawl and hide. Light would win the batt...
The house was filled with shadows. As soon as me and Gemma stepped into Auntie Fled’s house that was the first thing we noticed. “I’m scared Triton!” Gemma whispered partly to herself and partly to me. My older cousin was spooked. I am frightened too. “Did you just see that?” I asked her pointing at a shadow; That looked like our Aunt. In fact, When we looked up there she stood with a face that could make any normal person faint. And I am technically normal so I faint too.I have breakfast the next morning when I wake. It was the normal cerea...

I wake up to the birds calling to me again. They have the same spark of imagination in their eyes and the beautiful song they sing. I like birds. I peer at them through the cracks in the curtains then opening the window to get some air, I reach into my pocket and give them some bread. They eat it thoughtfully then fly away into the sunrise. I smile and get to work. I start to write my schedule for today.Get upGet changedgo to school if it is a school dayIf not a school day go down to the dairy to get some milkIf a school day walk home at 3:0...
"So, Mr Smarty Pants," said Strowl next to me. ‘Books aren’t coins you know.’ I give him an expression that means ‘Be quiet! I did not come here to steal, and you need to shut up or ‘She’ will hear us!’ Strowl understands and shrugs saying; "Why are YOU acting like the boss?” I give Prowl and Strowl a cross look. “Because I am the boss silly!” I clarify. All I see are the blank expressions of the two. “Look Chris!” Prowl said to me. “Don’t be so noisy, otherwise Librarian Grouch will hear us!” Strowl nods his head before ducking down to hide...
A tin box made of metal. Or was is steel? Is that a bit of dirt on this steel box? It must of been made around fifteen years ago. I do not know why but I somehow calculate everything in my mind PRECISELY. I think it was when I was two. Or three. Or four? I can’t really tell. But it may have been when people were teasing me at kindergarten that I did not know enough. That’s when I started this hobby. When I was five and a halve or possibly five in a quarter, I started studying books. This is at a very young age I may add. Then I learnt a few...
I am sitting on a chair reading a book.I like just sitting here relaxing not caring about all the fighting of my siblings. It makes me feel peaceful knowing anytime I feel stressed I can just rest on the couch, Forget about the problems and just, you know, just make me feel calm. But this is not the day. Splash! I get up and wipe off the tomatoes on my Tee-shirt that was thrown by my sister, Roxie. I know you may not believe this but I am the youngest of the family like literally. My mother is 46. My dad is 43. My older brother i...
I give Richard an evil stare mouthing the words “You will pay for this!” He gave me a look saying “You started it!” Then we both look at the librarian, Mrs Mcdonald. And together we start to shake all over. This could not be. I wish this was all a dream but the pain in my head is still throbbing of what happened to my poor face. Pain does not happen in dreams. Not even nightmares. Mrs Mcdonald’s eyes start to go all red, as if she's wanting to shoot her laser eyes at us. I did not believe those legends that maybe this librarian was a witch....

GeorgeWhen I was eight years old, I used to have an enormous tree in my backyard. It somehow snaked its way up to the sky and clings to the clouds. It can be seen miles beyond miles away from the street I was in. I called it Mabel. Now that I am 11 and a half, I call it “The Tree'' or “You know what” or anything you may refer to “Thing” because “Mabel” is a name for your dog or your cat or maybe your guinea pig and fish even though I do not think fish would be happy with the name. Me and my friend Tim like to climb it but we never reach the ...
