"Frankenstein is an enduring icon that has been reimagined countless times, though the creature's true appearance often remains ambiguous. My challenge was to faithfully capture Mary Shelley’s original vision. For the slipcase design, I imagined a scientific sketch—a conceptual blueprint of the creature's face, as if drawn by Victor himself. This creates a striking contrast: the slipcase shows the creature in its 'draft' phase, while the book cover depicts it fully realized, in flesh and blood."

"This is the second cover I’ve designed for Viggy, following the style of her previous book, A Cold Night for Alligators. The rough, hand-drawn title contrasts with the deep red-orange background, adding urgency and rawness. The anatomical illustration beneath the text serves as a grotesque, eerie focal point, reinforcing the book's theme and complementing the distressed calligraphy. Together, these elements create a bold, eye-catching, and unsettling cover that mirrors the tone of the story."

"The hand-drawn, distressed calligraphy on this cover conveys a sense of danger and primal energy. The rawness of this approach, combined with the looming red alligator tail, suggests an untamed, suspenseful story. The tail runs diagonally across the cover, creating dynamic movement that complements the title. Its curve guides the viewer’s eye from the upper right to the lower left, pulling the reader into the action, as if they’re being drawn into the alligator's grasp."

"The aim of this design was to evoke a sense of quiet malevolence and dread, capturing the tone of the prose. We wanted to hint at the horror genre without resorting to a garish or overt design. The stag horns, while suggesting their source, also serve as abstract shapes. I used ample negative space and ensured the design interacted with the typography, creating a symbiotic effect rarely seen in traditional horror covers."
