Author: Emanuel Diaz The River’s Lament Beneath the stars’ cold, trembling gleam, Two lovers yearned across the stream— One bound to earth, one lost to shade, By cruel eternity betrayed. “Beloved,” he cried, “this tide, so vast, Shall not keep us apart at last!” She reached, her hands through shadows bent, But the river roared: “You’re death’s lament.” They lingered there, with hearts entwined, Two fates by grief and love confined. Though life and death a gulf demand, Their shadows touched—hand near hand.
