Maybe I should have taken a bus. When I got on this train there were only seven people in the car. Now, as we are all waiting for it to depart the depot, every seat seems to be taken and you cannot even hear yourself think. So what am I doing in thisw noisebox? I am beginning to ask myself that same question. After fifty-seven years with the same company I had finally reached that magical old age that everyone works hard to reach. Friday had been my last day. The office had thrown me quite a party. So good that it made me...

Free food has my total attention whenever or wherever. And it did when AAA travel invited me to an evening presentation on Alaska. My parents had been there twice so with nothing else to do I went to the presentation and the free food. A trio of speakers painted a picture of our fifty-ninth state that was hard to resist. Starting with a cruise ship where there were several places where they would dock and the passengers would then be treated to various land excersions as they had pruchased. The main port that was used was at Ska...

Flight 1107 lands very roughly at LAX giving all the passangers quite a jolt. It also jolted one of a rare set of twin pixies frm a deep sleep. Dina jabs Dixie. "What the hell was that?" Dixie slowly awakens. "Not sure but I know you are not supposed to use hat kind of language." "Give me a break, Dixie. You've heard humans talk and even worse their song lyrics." "So you trying to sound human?" Dina ignores the question. "Whatever you got us riding in seems to have come to a stop." "Me! You're the ...

I was eleven years old when our Festival Park hosted the Fifth Annual Beach Music Festival. It was exciting because my parents were in charge of everything but the music. I was free to roam.Beach music in the south is totally different than bech music elsewhere. I was a big fan of rock and roll so I would have loved for it to mean the Beach Boys, or Jan and Dean, Bruce and Terry, Surfaris, or Dock Dale and is surf guitar. No such luck. Here in the South it was The Embers, Swingin' Medallions, Chairmen of the Boad, The Drifters, The Tymes, The...

It is Friday evening. All the facilities have been cleaned and the Mango Club is gathering for its ritual Friday game night. They were everywhere these days, androids doing the jobs humans once did. No need for a paycheck. No need for insurance. No need for retirement. No need for any kind of benefit. They were manufacturing dreams. Where did that leave the human workforce? Living off the government as they had been doing for the past twenty-five years. The majority of these androids were the latest most advanced models. Very low maintainance which meant most companies dealing with manufactured goods needed only one or two human employees. All ha...

"Yes, He left over thirty minutes ago. Why are you still at the window?" "Mommy?" "What!" She is getting rather angry now. "Why is daddy's office smoki...

"All right, class. This is the last day of the semester so how shall we end it." "Let's have a party!" someone in the back of the room yells. "Much as I would love to I am afraid we can't. Anybody for math?" Nobody..... "How about a geography trip?" Nobody again..... "Not science," Davey yells. "That gets too gross." "How about boys," suggests Veronica. The class laughs. "No, not boys.
