Fiction Adventure

Below are two short stories I wrote for fun... If you would like to leave some feedback that would be amazing!

...

Visions:

BOOM!

Smoke is billowing out of a blown-up car. Bones shattered and broken with the feeling still inside you. A reminder that you are still alive. Blood is everywhere, as far as you can see. Surrounding the bodies of your team, unsure of who is still alive. You see your friend beside you, the person that has been by your side since the time you joined the Army, dead. You try to stand up but then realize you can't move your legs or even your arms. You just lay there, helpless, hoping that someone will find you so you can live on. As you look up at the sky, you pray that you will be blessed with one more chance. Where you can live till 2166 and get to see your family again.

THUMP! THUMP!

The sounds just get louder and louder which makes your headache. Your body feels heavy and you try to remember what happened, but you can't. All you know is that you can see things. You can feel air coming in and out of your lungs. You are still alive, sitting and waiting for the last hill of the roller coaster to take you to the afterlife, but nothing ever happens. You just lay there, awake, in so much pain that you can hardly understand why you are still breathing, or even how. There is something places on your face and as you take an unsteady breath everything turns black.

But hey, this is Vincent's story to tell. Not mine.

A Year In:

Luminescence. Something that I have not seen in a couple of months. The dark looming corners of this train cart has been the only thing I could and can call home. I feel the pulses as we move, and somehow I find food when I need it, but I have been in this same room never daring to move.

It's essentially like an augmented reality now that I can see a glimpse of light. It’s blinding and I am starting to feel uneasy.

My name is Abigal D Miller and my story is, not gonna lie, kinda unbelievable. Everything is sort of chaotic and is still kinda haywire. It all started when I roused awake feeling drowsy. My eyes couldn’t adjust to the darkness at first but the longer I sat, in what I have always assumed to be a train cart, my eyes adjusted to the darkness. I was able to take in my surroundings. Four dark corners that never seem to get brighter, a calendar on the wall opposite of my seat, and a table to the left of me. My memories seemed fuzzy and I couldn't grasp why I was here.

As time passed, I realized that my surrounding changed every time I awoke the next day. The calendar would always have the last day marked and the table would be either moved or have something sitting atop it. The first day I found a note. To be honest I was starting to come out of my drowsiness and could feel that something was wrong from the very start. As soon as I finished reading this strange letter, I knew that I was wrong.

The Letter.

Good Morning -

I hope this letter has found you well. I have written this to inform you that you are my last test subject. You still have 10 more months and then hopefully all testing goes well. You are to not move from your seat or question me in any way. The room will stay the way it is and you will not see anyone or hear anything until your testing has been completed.

If you do happen to move from your seat there will be terrible consequences. As you may be thinking, moving couldn’t cause much harm. That’s where you are wrong. If you move you will be cursed for eternity.

Please enjoy the time you have with us. This will be the only time you will hear from me.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jim Harrison

As months go by nothing really changes. The night that I saw light seems to fade in my memories. It never seemed to appear again so I suspected that I was just hallucinating.

There always seems to be a meal on the table when I wake up but everything is just repetitive. I start to wonder if they want me to move and get cursed. I decide otherwise because if they aren’t lying, being cursed would truly be disastrous. More weeks pass, that turn into months and everything is starting to make me on edge. I want to talk to someone and see a person face to face. Every day feels like an eternity.

Based on what the calendar says it is finally December 31st. I feel like I could celebrate that everything is almost over but then I remembered that it has to be a full year. I sit there not able to sleep due to the excruciating pain of just wanting to leave.

I think I may have passed out cause now it has been a year and a day. Knowing that it has been an extra day, and I still have not been released from this dungeon gives me the feeling that I should just leave on my own. I go to move my arm but I feel a shock of pain ripple through my body. They must have tested me while I was asleep. Although I know I shouldn't leave without being advised to, the pain coming from my arm is only making the situation worse.

I need to get out of here and I feel as if something is boiling inside of me. Telling me to move before I explode. As I stand up I hear a creaking sound, as if a door is opening on the opposite side of the "room". I am starting to feel dizzy so I try to move at least one or two steps more, but my feet feel like weights as if cemented to the ground and I start to panic.

Just then a boy my age steps in front of me and gasps. He asks something that I never would believe to be true, "Where did she go?"

One day earlier.

“Our plan has failed, sir. What should we do with her?”, a deep masculine voice asked.

"We no longer need her, do we?”, a frail voice questioned.

"No sir. She has been tested and nothing has come up as abnormal. Should we let her go?"

"No”, the frail voice replied, "Kill her."
