Friendship Funny Fantasy

The sun was dangerous, the light that would seep through and my people would fear it and be something to avoid at all cost, we were told if we were to go into the light we would melt like the wings of Icarus who was the son of Daedalus a skillful craftsman.

I didn’t understand why we would melt, I wasn't made out of wax, well I was pretty sure I wasn't made out of wax, but I lived in a dark place, hardly any light and with people who were always scared and sad. I tried to make things better, make them less sad.

I tried with music, and even sweets, anything to make them less sacred, but none of anything I tried worked, I still didn’t understand the fear of the sun, it didn’t look scary. There was a way to see the light where I lived, I had ripped a hole in the top tart that showered my home in darkness.

I didn’t mean to rip it open, but when I did I remember quickly running away, it didn’t really do anything, the light was just there and it didn’t seem like it would chase you like a lion or anything. I walked closer to it and set my hand underneath it, it was warm and it didn’t hurt, it felt safe.

I would come and visit it every time I could, but sometimes water would come through or white flakes would fall through, I had never seen these thighs before, I had heard of them and would always hear the water crash down on the tarps and roofs, but seeing it and feeling it, was different, but I loved the sun.

If anyone were to find that out, I would be in trouble, if they were to find out I let light in, I would be in trouble, but I didn’t know why. I didn’t understand the fear of the sun or fear in general, but I wanted to live in the darkness and this fear of something that shouldn't be such a fear.

I was going to leave, but how do you leave everything and everyone you know and grew up with? But I didn’t want to stay here, in the dark, I wanted to be in the light, but my family, my friends….I was pacing back and forth thinking of what to do when I got an idea.

I can leave and explore and then come back and show them and then we all can live in the light, I just need proof.. I had a plan and that's what I was going to do. I began to pack a bag, extra clothes and food and paper and pencils to write down the proof I needed.

I left when everyone was asleep, I left a note and began to walk down the dark streets, and then I saw the rip in the tarp, it was light out there, I began to stack the crates and boxes to get to the top, I stuck my head out and was it amazing, there was so much space and the colors were incredible, so much green and blue and so many colors I had never seen, I began to climb out.

I made it to the edge of the tarp before I slid down and looked back. I lived on the ground of a mountain that was covered in tarps and anything to block this light, how could I live there when I had this.

I began to walk further out in the light, it was bright and it was warm and I didn’t want to go back, I was out! I was free! I began to run out further away from the dark home I lived in and father into the light, now all I need to do now is find proof for my people.

I looked down at myself, my clothes had color, I didn’t even notice it did, it was blue, but not like the sky and my pants were green, but not like the grass, they were darker, maybe I could get something more bright out here.

Were there people out here? In the light? If there are people out here then they must be the luckiest people alive to be able to go out in the sun, I began to walk through the grass, it then began to look more yellow and tall, I kept walking there so much, the trees in the distends looked so green.

I began to make my way to a tree and began to climb upwards to the top, I saw buildings way out in the distance, if there are buildings then there are people, so pros so far, bright, warm, people. People are always a good thing.

I began to walk closer to the buildings and the closer I got, the more I was able to hear people talking and then yelling? We weren't supposed to yell at my home because it would echo, I got closer to the buildings.

I saw people running and yelling after another person who was carrying a bag close to their chest, I watched for a moment, they caught up to the person and began to hit him and grabbed whatever he was holding and walked away.

I ran towards the person, they looked on the young side, maybe my age or close? He had short curls shape his face and he had cuts and bruises litter is body, I bent down as I sat my hand down on his back, he flinched away and his eyes snapped open,  the way the light hit his eyes, the small black dot shrunk and his eyes were so pretty.

“Are you ok?” I asked him to look at him more, and he looked at me like I was something strange to see, I probably looked different to him, I mean he looked different to me, he for one thing was much cuter than most guys I knew. Also his clothes were all brown and holes in all of them, I could fix that.

“Are you ok, can you understand what I’m saying or did they just hit ya too hard?” I guess I didn’t think about people not being able to understand me, but we'll see.

“I’m fine, who are you and where did you come from?”, at least we understood each other, I sat down on the dirt next to him. “That's good, my name is Cianna and I came from a mountain and you are from this town and name is?”

“Miles and yeah from this town” He was still looking at me funny, “do you want help? Want me to take you to your home or where do you want me to take you?” I asked and he only shook his head no, I jumped up making him flinch slightly “well then I guess I can find a place to stay and bring you with me, you ok with that?” I looked down at him, but he only stared at me, “I will take that as a yes”.

I grabbed him by the arm and got him to lean on me, he was shaky and he was actually pretty tall, but it would work, I began to move us towards the trees I had seen earlier and set him down at the base of the trunk. Before going though my bag and grabbing some of my other supplies, first aid bottle and sewing kits, “ok take of your shirt” I said as I began to shake up the bottle that began to glow a bit.

He looked at me like I had gone crazy, “take off the shirt man, I’m not gonna do anything beside help ya” he slipped off his shirt and set it down, I began kneeled down and began to place the liquid on his cuts and bruises, “so why did they beat you? What did they take from you?”

He looked at me before looking at his hands “Not many people like the homeless thieving boy and I stole some food” I nodded before bring my bag and throwing some roots at him, Miles catching them, “here eat those, they don’t taste like much, but they do the job” he whirled them before taking a small bight.

I then grabbed his shirt and turned it inside out and stitched it up, started to get darker out, starting to not love the dark now that I have light, I watched him get up and then began to grab sticks and then… there was light, how did he make that light? “How did you do that?” he looked up “what?” he said, chuckling a bit, “the fire, I got flint and a steal from my pocket, that's how, where did you come from?”

“Like I said a mountain, more like hole, there was no light, nothing like that, now I am here” I said as I kept sewing some of the holes up. “I see….why are you here helping me?” I only shrugged, I didn't know. “Well I am here to get proof why living in the light is good and I am helping I guess, why not?”

“Proof?” he said “yeah proof that living out here isn't as dangerous as they think'' he only nodded, “so then where do you plan on going?” “I have no clue, but somewhere and anywhere to find what I need” he nodded again, “so how long have you been here for?” “few hours I think”.

He then breathed in and then out, I glanced up at him “can I come with you?” he said “sure” I said, what a weird guy, I finished his shirt and then tossed it at him and then looked at the sky, maybe not the blue I saw earlier and maybe not the sun up there, but the stars are amazing.

I don’t remember when I fell asleep, but I woke up to the sun coming up, and Miles was still asleep. I love the warmth and brightness of the light, it felt more like home to be in the sunshine.
