Adventure Fantasy Kids

It was the morning of a beautiful day in the middle of summer. The air was a little cold, as it often is in the early morning. All the families in the little town were starting to wake up. All except the Brown family, as they had been awake long before the sunrise. But that was not alarming, because they often got up early. This day started out normal for the people of the little town, but little did they know that they would run into a big surprise later.

It all started when a little girl named Violet Cody woke up.She had brown hair, brown eyes, and was 7 years old. Violet had longed for something exciting to happen for a long time. “Nothing ever happens around here!” she thought. “ I wish I could make something happen!”

Violet got out of bed and had her usual breakfast of oatmeal. While she ate Violet racked her brain for ideas of how to make something happen. After breakfast she got dressed in shorts and a T-shirt. Then, after getting dressed, she read a book about fairies. Not the fictional fairies like Tinkerbell, but a book about the myths and stories about beautiful, powerful, magical, and good fairies. Violet thought it was very interesting. At the end of the book she found a map to a fairy who lived in a castle! “Is this a real map?” she wondered.

So she decided to find out. Violet told her parents she was going to a friends house, and set out. Violet took some food, of course. If she was gone all day she did not want to get hungry. Violet looked at the map.The map said to go north until she found the castle where the fairy lived. It was a very simple map. Violet squinted her eyes and looked north. In the past, when she looked north, she saw a spiky mountain. Now she looked closer, and it did look like a castle! She started north.

Violet thought it would take about two and a half hours to get to the castle and she was glad she brought food! To get to the castle Violet had to go through a forest. The air was getting warmer, so it was good that she was in a forest. The birds tweeted with a happy song, and little rodents scurried around the ground and in the trees. “What a beautiful place!” Violet thought.

It really was a beautiful place, with all the animals and the way the light shone through the trees. When she neared the end of the forest, she was sad to have to go. The castle did not look like it was that far away, so Violet sat down on a rock and ate the food she brought. She had brought a sandwich and an apple. Because she had been walking for quite some time, she was very hungry and the food tasted good. When she was done, she felt a lot stronger and ready to continue on.She brushed off her clothes and walked on. The ground on the last part of the journey to the castle was flat and treeless, but it had a lot of soft grass. Before she walked across the field,Violet lay down in the soft grass for a minute. The grass had looked so soft,Violet had just wanted to see what it felt like.It had felt wonderful and not one bit itchy. She did not want to get up, but she told herself, “I must keep going if I want to get to the castle soon!”

So Violet got up and bravely crossed this plain in less than an hour. After she crossed the plain,Violet found herself standing in front of an enormous castle made of crystal. It did not look like a fairy tale castle made of stone, but a clear crystal castle like the ice castle Elsa made in Frozen.Oh, how Violet loved that movie!Violet marched up the stairs and into the castle.

Her breath was taken away by what she found! A magnificent fairy was sitting on a diamond throne. But Violet was not scared because she knew from looking at her that she was a good fairy. The fairy asked her why she was there. Violet answered, “ I found a map on how to find you, so I set off because I liked the idea of having an adventure and I found you! I know that you are magic because fairies are magic,so can you grant me a wish?”

“ Of course child” the fairy said, “ What do you wish for?”

“ I want something exciting to happen!” Violet exclaimed, “Nothing ever happens where I come from.”

“How about snow in the summer?” suggested the fairy, “That would be the most unusual thing ever!”

“That would be awesome!” said Violet excitedly, “ Everyone would be so surprised!”

So the fairy waved her hands and magic shot out of them. Soon gently falling snowflakes were in the air. “Thank you fairy!” said Violet, “ I should be getting home now or my parents will be worried.”

“Go then” said the fairy.

While Violet started home, the residents of the small town saw the snow.Everyone was astonished! “Snow in the summer that is not cold? It is physically impossible! How did this happen?” they exclaimed. Meanwhile, Violet was walking back home. She was loving the snow! It was the perfect snow too! Soft, fluffy, and not one bit cold.Violet took her time walking home. Every once in a while she would scoop up some snow, throw it in the air and watch it float slowly down. When she got home, her parents, Rose and Ivan Cody, rushed out to meet her. They asked her how her friend was. Then Violet told them all about her adventure, from finding the map to traveling home again. Her parents were very surprised! “Violet, why didn’t you tell us about this?” they exclaimed.

Violet answered, “Because I didn’t want you to stop me from going!”

“That is okay,” said her parents, “Just tell us when you go on your next adventure, okay?”

“Okay” Violet promised.  Violet kept her adventure a secret from everyone except her family. So no one ever knew, except Violet and her family, knew why it snowed in the middle of summer.

The End.
