EUTW: Death and Denial(Part 2)

“I’m Nela.” the girl replied.

“Nela. Nice name.”

Nela didn't reply. She looked at the lush forest.

“Why are you here?”

“I dunno. I fell here. OH! Speaking of which, can you help find my friends?”

“Why should I? I just met you, and you literally tried to kill me.”

Gale awkwardly helped her up.

“Oh, um, I’m sorry.”

“Hmpf. Well, I would help you...but I have a problem.”

Her hood fell back, and as Gale looked at her, he realized something.

Nela is very, very pretty.

“What’s your problem?”

“Well, there are a bunch- oh my Soulle. Can you NOT see the dragons?”

Gale shifted his gaze to the entrance of the forest, and noticed the majestic dragons. They were both at least sixty foot high, with spikes taller than a small hill. Fire licked one’s tongue, as the other spat venom.

“Oh, so you need my help slaying them?”

“Yes, in a sense. Do that and I might consider helping you.”

She tossed her mane of brown and blonde hair and leaped into the air, blue eyes glinting. Gale thought that she was positioned in the light.

Then it hit him.

She IS the light.

He followed, after a flutter of his heart.

Hunter jolted awake.

He wasn’t in the laser covered floor anymore, thank goodness, but rather in a room, with a girl. And a boy.

“He-OUCH!”

His ankle reminded him that it was broken.

The auburn hair colored girl jumped and turned around, with the white-blond following.

“Oh, you're awake. Hi, I’m Yvette. I am the princess of the Dove Shrine, and this is my bodyguard, Galen.”

Galen merely nodded and turned around again.

“Not really a talkative guy, huh?”

Yvette smiled.

“No, but he is my best friend. Anyway, I brought you here because-well, actually, Galen carried you here because you looked half dead, and your arm was broken. And your ankle.”

Hunter rolled his eyes.

“So what? It’s broken, not like you can h-”

The words had just left his mouth when Yvette opened her palm, glowing green, and mended the broken bones.

“Wow.”

Galen made a noise with his throat.

“Do not underestimate the princess. She is one of the most talented people in the world.”

Yvette smiled her soft smile and replied:

“Thank you, Galen. But I’m afraid that, if I wish to fulfill my task, I must find the Seven Rings of Fate.”

Hunter cocked his head.

“Seven rings?”

Yvette nodded at him.

“The Seven Rings of Fate are the Rings given by the gods of Soulle, and if you receive one, you have immense power over a specific element. But-” Yvette continued, “You must prove yourself if you wish to receive one. And, if you go to receive a Ring, and find someone else worthy there, you may either leave, or fight them.”

Yvette held up her hand.

“This is a Ring.”

The Ring was soft pink, with green runes scrolled over it in a swirl pattern. It pulsed with energy and power.

Hunter mulled this all over in his mind. 

Seven Rings of Fate? Rings? Why does the princess have one?

“Why do you have one?”

Yvette shook her head.

“Being a princess of one of the most important shrines, I, alas, was always going to receive one. But, like I said, there are only five Rings left.”

“But you said there were seven.”

“One of them is missing.”

“What element.”

Yvette had a twinkle in her eye.

“Darkness. Or should I say, yours?”

Cascade just saw a person die.

As she lay, life seeping out of her fast, she clutched her bead chain with tears in her eyes.

“Mama...I’m sorry, I can’t get you back.”

What happened was… terrifying.

After she woke up, the person was awake and staring at her.

“Hello!”

The person...looked a lot scarier now, with a sharp face. And then it turned into a face with a spiky mouth. Then a face with no eyes. Then a face with too many eyes.

Cascade tripped over her dress as the face came closer, then-

It was still a person, but it had a greatsword.

And it sliced her from the abdomen.

“AHH! YOUR GONNA PAY!”

She summoned a bubble and threw it at the person, then spinned around and kicked it’s face.

“YOU WILL SUFFER.” Screeched the demon as it followed her, grabbing her arm and biting a chunk of it off.

Then it ripped apart her only photo of her family.

Her mom.

Ripped apart.

Her kind and gentle mom.

Ripped apart.

Her dad.

Ripped apart.

Her oh-so-funny dad.

Ripped apart.

Boiling rage ran over her like water.

She fused her arms with pure elemental energy and whipped her arms around at top speed at the demon. She then twisted her body and unleashed Swirling Vortex: Final Form at it. It let out a dying sob as its body faded.

Cascade then realized she was going to die. Her mama said to “Never, ever use Final Vortex, Cas. You will die.”

“Okay, mama!”

I broke my promise.

…

Goodbye, world.

I wish I could see my friends one...more...time-

Her breathing stopped. 

The beaded necklace reformed into a ring.

And someone took it.

Phoenix coughed.

She was about to be executed in the worst way, cut open and left to die. It was a horrible way to leave the world. Her multiple gashes left from the tourture had reopened many times. Her mind was a wild animal, begging for release from this horrible nightmare. And after two days of this, a person told her she’d be free.

…

Maybe it was better this way

After all

Aster was the one who told her that.

Aster is my brother.
