Fantasy Friendship Funny

Mx Melody Witherdale was the most mischievous of her time, that’s for sure. Melody was a pixie and not one who helped. She wasn’t necessarily evil, but she wasn’t very good either. If you can imagine April Fools Day as a person… that’s not her. April Fools Day is fun and games and in Melody’s opinion, ‘for newbies’. Melody is more the trickster type, more in line with Loki but less evil and more ‘just for fun’. Melody’s favorite pastime is convincing people that they left something in another room when it's actually in their hand, or making people forget what they were doing halfway through walking to a new place.

Melody was in the middle of making a little girl on the playground think that someone stole the coloring sheet that was in her backpack when her best friend, Lucky, tapped her on the shoulder. Melody sighed and dropped what she was doing, allowing the girl to remember where the coloring sheet was.

“Hey, Lucky, what is it?”

“Wow, what a way to greet your best friend,” Lucky said with a smile, the sarcasm dripping.

“Lucky, you know I love you, but I’m having a lot of fun right now and I would really like to get to an office and start making faucets act up.” Melody smiled at the thought of an uptight business person getting soaked when they tried to wash their hands.

Lucky laughed, “I would love to see that. I was just wondering if you were coming to the April Fools party that Juni is throwing.”

Melody smiled. She loved Lucky and Juni, her ride-or-die best friends, and she loved that they tried to include her in everything no matter how difficult she was.

It wasn’t that she wanted to be difficult, it was that difficulty wanted her. Or at least, that’s what she liked to tell people. Melody just wasn’t your average, silly, fun, prankster but mostly helpful pixie. Melody didn’t want to help humans because, in her mind, many of the human’s problems were caused by them and could be fixed by them. And it wasn’t like she was causing them any more problems, she just played a few short-term pranks that got a few laughs and then ended.

But April Fools Day was the human’s day to try and be like the pixies, and Melody hated it.

“Do you know how hard it is to prank people when they are expecting everything at every turn?” Melody had complained to Juni the first year she tried to prank humans on April Fools Day.

“I don’t know yet,” Melody replied to Lucky’s question, “You know I typically spend April Fool’s day sleeping…”

“Yeah, yeah, but hear this, Juni has a plan to prank an entire office building- you just have to see!”

“On… April Fools Day?” Melody was skeptical.

“Yeah! She plans on making everyone in the building think it’s April 2nd. Then, she’s going to prank them all just a small bit. It will be the best party ever!”

Melody smiled at how excited Lucky was, and even though Melody normally hated parties, she had to admit that this one sounded kind of fun.

When Lucky and Melody arrived at Juni’s, Juni was dusting her wings with trixty powder. Trixty powder was normal pixie powder for wings, but Lucky had figured out how to make it make their wings a little faster, so they called it trixty powder because it helped them pull off all of their tricks.

“Juni!” Lucky exclaimed, “I got Melody to come!”

Juni turned to face them, “No way,” She said, before sighing and pulling out ten coins and plopping them in Lucky’s outstretched hands.

“Ha!” Lucky boasted, “I win!”

“You guys took bets on me?” Melody asked, slightly amused.

“Yeah, obviously,” Juni said, “You’ve turned down every invitation to come to a party since I’ve known you, it’s not fair that the first time we think to take bets you decide to come.”

“It’s really your own fault, Juni,” Lucky said, “You are the one who came up with the ingenious pranking idea that was the real reason Melody decided to come along.”

Juni turned to Melody, “Really?”

Melody nodded, smiling.

“Ah!” Juni exclaimed, “Curse my ingenuity!”

The three of them laughed and sat down to begin their plan. Lucky had helped Juni set up a 3D floor layout of the office building they were pranking, and the three of them stayed up all night discussing each worker and which one would get which prank. Juni had already messed with their dreams to make them think that April 1st had already happened, and now the three of them were scheming up their plans. This was what Melody loved about her life.

“Okay,” Melody said, game face on, “So Mr. Knightley will get the faucet spray, Mrs. Lux will have yogurt spilled on her, Ms.-”

“I’m sorry, yogurt spilled on her?” Lucky asked.

“Yeah…” Melody said, “The fridge door will open into her arm, forcing the yogurt to fall on her skirt.”

“No, yeah, I got that, but yogurt isn’t a liquid.”

“It doesn’t have to be liquid to be spilled,” Juni offered.

“But- just, give me any other example of something that isn’t innately liquid that the word spilled can be used to describe it falling.”

“Cake!” Juni exclaimed, “Cake can spill on you.”

“I have never heard ‘spill’ used to describe cake,” Melody admitted.

“I’m sorry, who’s side are you on?” Juni asked, playfully accusatory.

Melody threw her hands up, “I’m just saying the truth!”

“Haha! Okay, so you were saying?” Lucky said, offering Melody an inciting look.

“Okay, so… where was I…. Right, Mrs. Lux and the yogurt. After that, we can make Ms. Turner think she missed a few important documents, we can make Mr. Durni think he slept through the entire workday, and…. I’m out.”

“I’ve got you covered!” Juni hopped in, “Let’s have…” she paused, bringing her hand to her chin thoughtfully, “Aha! Let’s have Mrs. Wood lose her lunch when it’s on her desk!”

The three spent the rest of the night laughing and planning, and when April Fools day came, they were thoroughly prepared.

One thing they hadn’t prepared for, however, was their idol intervening.

“Loki!” Melody exclaimed, “What are you doing here?!”
