Fantasy Happy Friendship

Watching the sun come up was incredible, watching the colors spread out and the gold light hit my skin, it felt incredible, I looked at Miles, who apparently shall be my new best friend. He doesn’t know that yet, but he will.

I got up and began to shove things into my bag and got up. Sleeping outside wasn't bad, I reached into my bag and grabbed some roots to chew on, I walked over to Miles and kneeled down, poking him in the shoulder, “Miles are you awake? How are you feeling? Miles wake up” he groaned as he swatted my hand away and sat up, “Cianna why are you up so early?” he asked, rubbing his face.

“Because there is nothing better to do”, he looked at me before laying back down “sleeping is one thing better to do”, I sat down waiting for him to wake up before I saw a small bird began to chirp, it was small little brown bird with a red stomach, I looked back at Miles before getting up and climbing the tree, the bird didn’t fly away, but just stared at me.

“Hey there little guy” I said holding my hand out slightly, the bird only looked at me before flying at me, pecking me “ouch” I quickly jumped down landing on my butt while Miles shot up, “Cianna I swear” he said before looking at me and the bird, “it was the birds fault man” he gleaned before getting up, “whatever let's get moving”. I jumped up excited!

“Ok then where should we go?” I asked as he began to walk towards some fields “well you said you need proof for your people right? To show them this word is ok” I nodded my head, “well probably then we should head towards some towns and you just search I guess”.

I looked at the ground, then the sky, then Miles, “Miles, why are you helping me ?” I asked as I handed him a root from my bag, but he only shrugged and then we kept walking.

As we walked I grabbed some of the plants near by, some were Wight and some red and some yellow, I looked over to Miles, “Miles what are these?” he looked at me and then the plants “those are flowers, not those where you are from?” “nope, didn’t much of anything, no light, so no plants besides the roots that grew out of our roofs” he nodded.

“So then why do your people live in that darkness?” I glanced at him then the flowers in my hand “They fear that if they go out into the light they will melt like the wax wings of Icarus” he then looked at me and then plucked up a flower himself, “why would they think that?” I didn’t know why they thought that actually, “well I don’t know it's just been like that for as long as I can remember” and he only nodded.

It was a few hours later and the light got so much hotter and I felt like I was dying, and my skin felt like it was burning, “Miles why does the light hurt so much anyway?” He looked back at me and his eyes winded, “You're as red as a tomato” he said as he began to hear me to some shade of a tree “what's a tomato?” I asked “a fruit, now sit down, do you have that stuff?” “the stuff I put on you after you got beaten up? Yes”

I grabbed my bag and pulled it out, he put some on my arms and began to lightly rub it on, but it still hurt “ouch man, you think this will even work?” he glanced at me then went back to my arms “well I mean it got rid of my bruises so maybe” he then put some on my face and I rubbed it in.

“Why did the light do that?” I asked he looked at me then “you had to much exposure from the sun, so it burned you and sense you lived your entire life in a dark cave with no light, you burn very easily I guess” I looked at my arms, they were so red, guess that is con to living here, the sun will burn you, not melt, but burn.

We waited a little while until some clouds began to cover the sun a bit before we got walking again, it hurt to move, “does the sun hurt other people?” I asked and he nodded “the sun can burn others, yes, but when you are in the sun a lot you have a better chance of not getting as burned, like me” I nodded.

It was a little bit latter when we got to a stream of rushing water, we laid down next to it, and stuck my hands in, grabbing stones that were so smooth, “Miles why are the stones so smooth?” I asked holding one out, he grabbed the stone “I guess it's just the force of water always moving angst it” he said before handing it back to me.

“Miles, I don't know anything about you, tell me what your favorite color?” he looked at me before sitting down, “I like blue, you?” “I like green” I then grabbed another rock and began to stack them “what's your favorite things to do in your spare time?”, “I like to play music,” he said.

“Do you play an instrument?” I glanced at him “I learned to play a few, yes” I never got to learn how to play, but I have heard others play them, they were the best part of living in the dark I think. “What about you? What do you like doing?” “Well before this, I liked to cook, but now I think I just like seeing all these new things….hey when's your birthday?” I asked as I stacked another rock “March 20th, what about..” I cut him off quickly. “Wait, how old are you?'' I asked.

He chuckled “I’m 19, but when were you born and how old are you?” he asked “I was born April 20th, funny we were both born on the 20th, but I am curtly 17” he nodded before grabbing some stones from the river and helping me stack them. It was quiet and nice, another pro, to add the outside would be peaceful and fun.

He finished stacking the rocks and then got back on to walking, we kept walking until it got dark, we set up another fire and sat down, I watched the sunset, watching the colors all go back to the sun, “Miles thanks for coming with me” he only smiled, I grabbed another root and handed it to him, “I think we should get to a town soon and get real food” he said “hey this is real food, maybe not good, but real” “ok fine, fine” he said holding it hands up.

Miles is nice.

The colors disappeared and the stars came back out, I hope it's always like this.

I woke up and watched the sunrise come back up, it was amazing to see the sun give back all the color to the world, I can’t wait to get my people to see sunrises and so much more.

You definitely have potential! I loved the story, though there were some unnecessarily repeated words and grammar errors. Keep writing and you’ll surely improve :)

Interesting story. You should perhaps consider a proofread before publishing. There are a number of mistakes that look like they happened because of spell check, ie: “I’m curtly 17” instead of “currently”. This seems like it could grow into a longer story — the pre story on how they meet, and what they are doing, and the later story where they fulfill their goals. Thank you for this.
