Adventure Christian Fantasy

Once upon a time, there was a golden city. In this golden city, there lived a man who was called Dr. Jack. He was a fine man with the most beautiful house in the whole city and his entire house had just a single window. He called this window the magic window because through this window, he could see everyone’s problems and also get the solutions to these problems. Whenever people would come to him for help, he would quietly move to this window and ask it to show him everything the person was going through and give him a magic stick to solve the person’s problem.

This continued for several years and he was later on proclaimed the king of the city as he had been solving the problems of everyone who came to him for help. All this could not be possible if not for the help of this magic window. Dr. Jack ruled as king over this golden city for several years until one day something happened.

On that faithful day, a hunter went hunting and he caught no animal so he decided to go near Dr. Jack’s house to see if he could catch something. After hours of looking, he finally saw a squirrel sitting on a tree behind the house. This squirrel was eating palm nuts and this hunter saw it as a great opportunity to finally take something home to his family. He aimed anxiously at this squirrel but missed. The bullet he fired went directly to the magic window and the window scattered into tiny little pieces. Immediately the hunter discovered that he had done this terrible deed, he quickly ran to his house and told no one about what happened.

Then the ring returned from his meetings with the city council, he went directly to his room to get some rest. On reaching the corridor leading to his room, he discovered this horrible deed. Guards! Guards! Guards! He screamed with a very loud voice. When his guards arrived, he instructed all of them to lie down. While on the ground, he requested to know who committed such an abominable act but no one seemed to know. He wept bitterly as nothing could help him solve his citizens’ problems anymore.

Some couple of days later, he sent his guards to all the magicians he knew in order to seek for a solution to this tragedy. They all went and spent 5 days searching for the right magician. When they returned, they brought good news to the king. The most powerful magician they visited told them that only a magic gum could fix the window and this magic gum was lying in an evil land which no human with evil intensions goes to and returns alive.

The king was very troubled about this so he sent for his council. In the council meeting, they unanimously decided that 10 men would undertake this journey and the person who returns with the gum would be named the prime minister who would be next in command after the king. The selection process went on for days and a poor wretched Samuel who lived with his grandmother was instructed by his grandmother to partake in this journey. Since he loved his grandmother so much, he could not disobey her. So he decided to take part in the journey with the sole purpose of making his grandmother happy. Fortunately, he was chosen to be one of the 10 men and they were not told the reward that they would get for bringing the magic gum. All they were told was that a great reward awaits the person who brings the gum.

They were sent to go and collect the magic gum after 7 days of preparation. On their way to the evil land, just Samuel and another boy had good intentions. The rest were on the journey with selfish intentions. The 8 wicked people conspired to push the other guy off a cliff because he kept opposing their decisions throughout the journey. Only 9 of them were left. Half way through the journey, 3 of the boys went in search of something to eat and they never came back.

Only 4 of them managed to reach the evil land. When they got there, they were stopped by witches at the gate. They were asked the reason for their presence there and they explained everything to the witches at the gate so they were allowed to go in. On reaching the place where the magic gum was found, the witches that were keeping watch over it gave them a test. This test was meant to see how pure hearted they were. They were told that only two people could leave with the magic gum so two people had to sacrifice their lives for the others to return with the magic gum. Samuel accepted to sacrifice himself for his people and he managed to convince one of the other 3 people to do the same.

The two other people who insisted on being the ones to return with the gum were then told to inter into a room which they said had the magic gum. Little did they know that they were heading to their very own end. Samuel and the guy who decided to sacrifice their lives for the others were taken to the gum with the gum. They were told to collect the magic gum, run and not look behind for anyone who looked behind would die.

They both ran as fast as they could and when they were almost reaching the golden city, the other boy decided to look behind because he felt as if they had come too far so they would not die anymore. To his greatest dismay, he tuned into sand immediately he looked behind and the wind blew him away. Samuel became extremely scared so he did not look behind until he got to the king’s palace.

When he got there, he was given a very warm welcome by the king and the entire city as they threw a feast to celebrate his return and the restoration of the magic window. After the feast, he narrated the entire story to the king and his council. They all mourned the death of the other 9 boys and their names went down into the history of the golden city as the hero of the city.

After all these, the king assembled the pieces of this magic window and threw the magic gum on it. All the broken pieces immediately came back together and the magic window was whole again. The king was extremely glad with this and so he fulfilled his promise to the council by making Samuel the prime minister of the golden city.

So everything came back to normal and Samuel’s story immediately changed from a wretched boy to the prime minister of the golden city.
