Magic Around The Corner

I add 2 cups of flour. Dump. Woosh. The flour comes into my bowl and the sun hits the flour and makes the most beautiful moment. Well to me that is. I love baking. Especially with my 2 other besties. We were baking a double chocolate fudge cake. It was going good. Mrs. Gina gave us our magic spices and ingredients. We use them to help people and elevate our spices. This time we were baking a cake to keep Jenn Krist out of town. She was trying to steal our spices, again. Last time we tried to stop her, but she spelled us with a touch spell, that we never knew existed.

"Let's put in some Delivon sugar," I say.

"Great idea, it will definitely help with keeping her away," one of my friends Maddie says.

"Totally," says Jenna my other friend. We didn't know these existed until Hannah, Darbie, and Kelly told us. The spices came to us suddenly and they explained everything. They are from Just Add Magic. This is our 5th recipe since we got told about this. At first, we thought it was fake, but then we really saw it. I mix in the batter to get it combined well, then let Jenna have a turn. This by record is our most time-consuming cake. But we had to make it, in order to keep Jenn out of town. She was evil and only wanted the magic for evil and power. She sounds like she came out of those movies with the evil villain. Actually, our whole life sounds like a movie now. We can't tell anyone about what we do though, or else we are in huge trouble. Everyone will want magic to be in power. Back to the cake.

We put our first 2 cakes into the oven. We have to make a three-layer cake, according to the recipe.

"Hey, guys look like we'll need some more lemon. I'll go out to the grocery store real quick and grab some," Maddie says. We tell her to facetime us once she gets there. Nothing is safe anymore. We have to check up and meet up with each other daily. Mrs.Gina was an old protector of the magic and she said that Jenn did whatever she could to get her hands on the spices and recipes. Lucky for us we keep it all on our tablet we share. We have double security on it. Me and Jenna sit on the couch, waiting for the 2 cakes to bake. My phone rings, and I see that it's Maddie calling us. I answer the facetime call and show me and Jenna.

"Guys major news. Jenn is here at the store. I put my hood up to make sure she doesn't notice me. I want to keep you guys on the phone till I get out of here. I'm just grabbing some lemon and a few other things my mom needs."

"Okay just keep an eye on her and exit the facetime real quick and take a couple of pictures and videos of what Jenn is doing, okay?" Jenna tells Maddie.

"Okay," Maddie says. Maddie ends the call, and me and Jenna sit on the couch, wondering why Jenn is suddenly at the store.

"Maybe she saw Maddie go in before she went in disguise," I say coming to a conclusion after thinking about it.

"True. Jenn did mention that she would have her eyes on us". Maddie calls us again.

"Hey, Maddie".

"Guys quite make a fake name for me. Jenn is following me around I'm going to bye my stuff then skirt out of here. I'm scared, so I'll go somewhere else like the park in case she follows me."

"Okay sounds like a plan Mary," Jenna says. That's the fake name we call Maddie when we're on the phone for now. Mary. We hang up again, expecting Maddie to call in a few minutes. I put my phone on the counter, and see how many minutes the cake needs. 40 minutes. Ugh. This cake takes a while to make. Maybe because there is Delivon sugar, but honestly I'm not sure. I'm not too good at baking anyway.

Bzz. Bzzz. Its my phone.

"Hey Mary, where are you?" I hear her panting.

"Listen to me carefully. Jenn is following me and won't stop. I biked around the park about 5 times now and she won't stop. She's trying to make it not seem obvious, but I can see her. Should I just bike to your house?" Maddie says. We are cooking at Jenna's house so it's her decision.

"Sure, but be quick and come from the back door. Anyway, my house has a front gate and does face id. I have yours imprinted on there so it should be fine," Jenna says.

"Yeah that is true," I say.

"Okay, I'll see you guys there. I'll call you if anything else happens."

We hang up on Maddie. Me and Jenna sit there, both in our own thoughts. I'm worried about Maddie. Jenn is a very dangerous person. We've heard what she's done in the past, and it's not good. She has stopped time, kidnapped people, and broken into their houses. If they knew anything about magic, Jenn would know about the person. I've only seen Jenn in person twice. Once at Buzz cafe, and the other time in Mrs.Gina's garden. Both in places where Mrs.Gina is. Mrs. Gina, or Gina as we call her, owns Buzz cafe and has a garden of magical spices at her house.

"I'm worried about Maddie," Jenna says, sighing.

"Me too. Anything could happen. And she hasn't called for about 15 minutes, and the park is 5 minutes away from your house. Maybe she's still trying to get Jenn out of her sight," I conclude.

"Probably," Jenna says. Just then my phone buzzes. I wait for a second, then I answer.

"Hey Mary, everything okay?" I say, using Maddie's code name

"No, not really. She's very close to me. I'm scared. I'm still in the park if your wondering. I tried to exit but there is construction for an hour and we cant exit. I feel like Jenn set this up. And I'm getting tired from biking around so much," Maddie sighs.

"MADDIE WATCH OUT," Jenna screams. I look carefully at the screen, and it's Jenn putting her hand over Maddie's mouth. Suddenly the call ends, and we don't know what will happen to Maddie.
