Fantasy Fiction Teens & Young Adult

I woke up on a bed. In a room I didn't recognize. Something was wrong. Or maybe it was right, I wasn't exactly sure. It seems as though my memories have vanished from me. I woke up in the kingdom of Novis, that I know, and that was a relief. But I knew nothing else. Except for the fact that maybe, just maybe, I didn't want my memories back. I didn't want to remember.

I got up from the bed and walked around the room, touching the empty picture frames and caressing the little miniature statues. The room was big, filled with bright colors, a lot of it gold, white, and silver. Fluffy little stuffed animals were everywhere. There was a little bedazzled bat in the corner. I looked under the bed and found a dark wooden trunk. It was filled with pictures. Memories. Not mine, though. Definitely not mine. I picked a picture up, and inside it was a little boy and girl, playing together as their family laughed together at the side. I was so immersed in the scene that I didn't notice when the door opened.

"I see you've woken up. How are you feeling?", an unfamiliar male voice said from behind me, startling me so much I had jumped halfway across the room. I turned to look at the strange voice, to find a young man, maybe in his mid-twenties looking at me.

"Are you ok?", he walked closer to me as he said this and I backed away.

"Stay away. Don't come closer. Who are you?," I say, and he pauses in his steps for a moment before starting again.

"Astral, I know everything's confusing to you right now but- Put that down." He stares at the bat that used to inhabit the right corner of the room that was currently in my hands.

" Astral? Who is Astral?" The name confused me and it had confused me even more when he had said it to me as if I should know it.

"You're Astral. Remember?", a strange look passed over his face before he put his hands over his face. " Jesus, they took more of your memory than I had thought. You've lost too much of it. OK, we can deal with that. I guess we can just start from the beginning this time.

"Astral", I saw to myself, the name is familiar now, and I hear multiple voices in my head say that name. But the voices aren't talking to me, it's as if i'm listening to them. And I'm watching the pictures that go along with them.

"Remember, Astral. Remember how you got here. What happened before. The war. Calypso's death. Her daughter birth. My father betrayal, And- ", I stopped listening to him. Now I can hear and see the pictures and voices in my head, slowly drifting in but coming in faster and faster. They confused me. They were new to me. They were-.

" Your remembering, good. Quickly to." A smile passed over his face, and he ran a hand through his dark hair. But I focused on my head. On what was going on inside it. What those pictures were- memories. They were memories. No.I didn't want to remember. I couldn't. I just couldn't, I- No!

"No! Stop!," I scream out loud at him, at myself and he jumps back.

"What, Astral why? You have to, The people need you, Novis does. Your the quee-."

And this time I swing. I couldn't let him finish his sentence. I swing the bat that I never let go of at his head and he ducks just in time.

"What the heck! Astral," he yells this time and only yell back.

" I told you no! Stop speaking! Stop saying things that makes the memories come back. They were hiding. Let them stay hidden!" Tears stream down my face as I push back the memories, making sure that I forget each one I see. I grab one of the furry animals around the room and throw it at him.

"Jesus, Astral, I- Irina!" He yells a strange name at the door before barricading himself behind a bookshelf. The door opens and a woman with long red hair enters, looking at the scene around her.

"What happened?", she says standing in the middle of the room.

"It seems our Queen has abandoned us.", he responds.

Nope. I wasn't Queen. Wait what's a queen? Who's a queen. No one is. Except the queen. Which is not me. The queen is in the Palace of Novis, As she has always been.

"Astral," The red head- Irina, begins, " We need you. I know after what happened things are rough, but your the strongest of us. I need you."

"Lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala."

" God! Astral! Stop being Stubborn! What is she doing?," Irina asks the guy in the corner, looking at me curiously and with anger.

"She doesn't want to remember", the guy says before glaring at me.

"What do you mean?! She has to!" Irina takes out something from her pocket, - a phone and shoves it in my face. On the screen there is a video a young woman with wavy white hair, wearing a silver and gold crown adorned with a crescent moon, stars, and gems. She was undeniably beautiful, she obviously wasn't fully human. In the video there was a group of angry looking people coming toward her and she used her powers, causing a mark on her collarbone to glow white. I recognized that mark. It was the same one I had. A crescent moon and angelic wings intertwined. I backed away as I realized what the video was.

"Why are you doing this to me?," I say softly, tears beginning down my face again.

"You really don't want to remember? Me and Marcus need to tell you-".

" No," I say. I couldn't hear this conversation. It would make me remember. "I don't." Then I take a deep breath and swing the bat at my own head, just hard enough to knock me out and the word blurred around me. I can't remember. I can't endanger those people. Not again. Life is better this way. That all I know. I just can't remember. It all has to stay hidden. Everything.

Then I stopped falling, and the world turned black.

“Hidden” was great! I’m liking how stubborn this character is. And the last sentence... This should definitely be a series. Keep up the good work!
