Adventure Teens & Young Adult Thriller

Zack and Tina followed the little pixie to a worn-down building covered in ivy and moss. The pixie hummed and flew away, towards the maze. Zack sighed, “This is as far as she’ll go, so she is going to bring the others to us,” he locked eyes with Tina. Zack noticed that she was picking her scabs and had been chewing on her nails; something that Adaline did as well when she was lost in thought and anxious. Tina and Zack both took a quick glance at the old place that had clearly had seen better days and started for the front door...

Simon looked up just in time to see a hegde in front of him. Cody and Lason watched as Simon tried to regain his thoughts. Cody’s expression changed as he sighed, “He blames himself for Heather’s kidnapping,” Cody looked down with sad eyes as he continued, “He still loves her.” Lason, who still is in his rage mode, narrowed his eyes, “ Love makes us weak.” Cody stopped dead in his tracks, “THAT’S NOT WHAT LOVE DOES! NOW I KNOW THAT ANGEL AND YOU WERE A THING, BUT LOSS IS A PART OF LIFE TOO!” Cody stomped off towards the others, leaving Lason alone. If only Cody and the others could only understand why he acted the way he did. Addie made him be what she couldn’t, strong and guarded like her father. Lason had to be cold-hearted for Addie’s sake; it was the only thing he could do. Just then, the sound of the bushes rustling behind him pulled him out of his thoughts. Lason pulled his arm out of place to reveal a double-edged sword. Simon pulled out his pen and clicked it which caused it to turn into a deck of cards that an Oracle of shadows into. Dan, Maddie, and Victoria got into a fighting stance as a group of masked figures emerged from the bushes. The leader of the group was wearing a red hoodie and white clay wolf mask. The hoodie’s sleeves had been torn off revealing a wolf paw tattoo with the bible verse, Genesis 4:1–18, and the word “wanderer” in the middle of it...

Zack eyed the rows of bookshelves that went on forever down the long hall, “This is Adaline’s hidden library,” he said as he ran his fingers up and down the spines of the books that were on the nearest shelves. Tina walked up to another nearby bookshelf as Zack pulled out a book, “Addie told me about this place and how each book is a person that she created,” he continued as he flipped through the pages. Tina pulled out a dusty paperback with wide eyes. The book that she was holding was Ethan’s story. Tina looked over to Zack, reading when the little pixie came flying into the room like a crazy fly. Zack dropped the book and looked at Tina with a worried look, “The others are in trouble! We need to go, NOW!”...

Adaline looked at the chessboard with a worried look and sighed, “So the queen has decided to go out into the battlefield, then I will go too.” Adaline stood and walked away from the game, twirling a black rose in between her fingers. One of the rose’s thorns poked her ring finger and a drop of blood ran down her hand as she went into the white void…

Zack and Tina stood and stared in horror at the gruesome scene in the maze. Victoria’s head was spiked through Lason’s sword arm while bits and pieces of him were scattered on the ground. Zack’s eyes darkened with rage then as if a thought pulled him out his rage and caused him to start running down the maze. Tina looked around and realized the same thing that he did; Victoria’s and Lason’s bodies are the only ones there, meaning that the others could still be alive. But for how long? Tina didn’t want to think about that question...

Dan’s and Damian’s footsteps echoed through the maze as they ran for their lives. It felt like Dan’s heart would pop out of his chest. It seemed like fear was all that kept him alive at this point as the thoughts of Maddie ending up like poor Victoria made his stomach flipped. Damian's eyes bolted around in their sockets, looking for a way out. He had to find the girls before that murder did. They got separated from the others when Lason started to cut the masked figures down and the leader in the wolf mask actually morphed into a wolf and grabbed Victoria with her jaw. Damian and Dan lost the masked figures and the rest of the group, but when they turned around to make sure, they saw two pairs of glowing red eyes coming from the shadows of the bushes. Zack and Tina ran up to them and Dan let out a sigh of relief, “You guys are okay!” Zack nodded, “We’re fine, but Ethan didn’t make it. Where are the girls?” Zack asked Damian. Dan and Damian exchanged glances with each other, “We don’t know,” Damian spoke with a worried look in his eyes...

Somewhere unknown, the girl sat in the dark, her lime green eyes glow as she watched a camera monitor. There were the unwelcome guests on the other side of the screen chained to the floor along with the latest devil spawn. She looked down at the chessboard with a sweet smile. Both queens were out on the field now...

Maddie woke up in an unfamiliar place with chains on her hands and legs. The room that she was in was dark but it was definitely a basement. There was something shiny and clear on the dark stone floor. What is that? she thought, reaching down to touch it. Blood. The gray stone walls were covered in the blood of some kind of animal. The smell of blood met her nose. The floor felt wet and sticky with blood and mud from outside. In the corner, full of darkness, also chained to the floor were the others. Some were still unconscious while Krystal and Cody cried out for help, waking up the others. Maddie looked around for Dan and Damian but they weren’t there. Maddie’s thoughts started to race through her brain when the door to the basement opened up to the wolf masked figure…
