***LAILA LAVENDER WON'T BE ON REEDSY ANYMORE*** (due to some reasons...) π‹πšπ’π₯𝐚 π‹πšπ―πžπ§ππžπ«'𝐬 𝐛𝐒𝐨: πš†πš‘πš˜ πš’πšœ π™»πšŠπš’πš•πšŠ π™»πšŠπšŸπšŽπš—πšπšŽπš›? Laila (or you can call her Lavender, or maybe even her previous and real name Haripriya) is a young girl who admires a lot of things. She likes nature and being adventurous. Her favorite season is Autumn because of the beautiful leaves, the cool weather, and because that is when her birthday is. But she also likes the flowers and the rain from Spring, and the smell of dew drops. Winter’s snow is also one of her favorite experiences because she likes the coldness and beauty of it. But she hasn’t forgotten about summer! No, no! She loves the sun’s warm radiation and loves the idea of going to places like Disney World or Universal Studios as a vacation spot during her summer break. This young, unique (and sometimes peculiar) girl also happens to play the violin. She isn’t an expert at it but has surprisingly played it for about 3 Β½ years and is now loving her instrument. One of her aims for the future is to be an advanced (or maybe even an expert) at violin. She wants to teach students how to play the violin as a part-time job. Playing violin is her passion, and she plays her heart out. She named her violin Violet (the most reasonable name for any violins!), her bow Boa, and her shoulder rest Scarlett Rose, and she doesn’t wish to change those names ever in the near future just because she loves those names so much. She also loves to draw. She likes to use all kinds of mediums for her art projects and finished drawings, but she mostly prefers either colored pencils or markers, just because it is a little bit more convenient to use for her. Sometimes, (when she’s lazy, or doesn't have the mood for it) she just wishes to sketch with her mechanical pencil, and maybe do some light shading and call it a drawing or a finished sketch. Maybe you can find her using her favorite Ohuhu brush markers and coloring things or using her Prismacolor colored pencils to deepen some things and shade even more. Maybe, just maybe she might even feel like picking up her paintbrushes and her Arteza colors to paint! She also wishes to improve her drawing skill too. P.S. Her profile you see has been drawn by her. =) But little Laila isn’t always all about outside, drawing, and violins! This curious girl also loves to read books from her humongous TBR (to be read) pile. She always has so many things she wants to read, and one book after another, she does read them! In a miracle, last year, she has read more than 100 books and deeply wishes to reach around the same amount (but if she’s lucky, maybe even more!!!) this year too. Reading books has mostly been hobby and her interest, and she loves to read all types of books from all different types of genres. She loves good classic books with a mystery twist at the end, or some sad books which have adventure and excitement! On a rainy September evening (she thinks the exact date is 09/10/2020 or in other words Thursday, September 10th,2020), the young girl was just done with all her homework and scrolling through a lot of Writing Contests on her laptop when her eyes met something called β€œReedsy Prompts Weekly Writing Contests”. She was immediately interested in this website and decided to try and write a few stories to see if she has the interest to write stories, which she soon found. After writing a few stories for a contest, she wanted to write more and soon started liking all these contests and prompts. She got encouragement to write more from her lovely parents (her entire family) and her dear Reedsy friends she has made during the course of a couple of months. So, she wants to thank all of them for that! πš†πš‘πšŠπš πšŒπšŠπš— π™»πšŠπš’πš•πšŠ π™»πšŠπšŸπšŽπš—πšπšŽπš› πš‹πšŽ πšπšŽπšœπšŒπš›πš’πš‹πšŽπš 𝚊𝚜? She likes to describe and think of herself using a lot of words. One of those words would be positive because she likes to stay happy, and always wants to pass her energy and happiness to others too. Laila likes to make sure that everyone around her is happy. She has barely ever argued with her friends, and when she disagrees, she does it in a manner where the other person doesn’t get hurt. But sometimes, she can be a bit too happy (and is sometime a bit too naive) which can be in the wrong under some circumstances. But mostly, her positivity doesn’t trouble her and others around her. Laila can also describe herself as a perfectionist and this characteristic and behavior of her only comes through in group projects. She has this pet peeve of always wanting everything to be right and perfect, but she still doesn’t get the fact that there is no such thing as perfect. Something is always wrong in every moment, but sometimes she acts as if she forgot that which can really annoy her friends. So, she is really trying to enjoy the flaws and mistakes she sometime makes through her journey, and throughout her life. π™³πš˜πšŽπšœ π™»πšŠπš’πš•πšŠ πš‘πšŠπšŸπšŽ πšŠπš—πš’ πš˜πšπš‘πšŽπš› πš’πš—πšπšŽπš›πšœπšπšœ? Yes! This girl doesn’t only like to do the things she mentioned above, but also likes to write poems. She loves to write all types of poems. From happy and inspirational ones, to bold and sad ones. For some reason, poetry really sparks her and throughout 2021, she is hoping to include more of her poetry skills into her stories she posts in Reedsy. She will be posting one of her longest poetry she has written (not as a part of a story, but just for fun!!) down below for others to get a sense of how she writes. Young Laila would also really like it if others would tell her things she needs to work on in her poetry! Title: Facing the Music... I hear it, it made the news, everyone, in their homes, packing anxiously Are they ready? Is everyone safe? Everyone evacuated? Got all the supplies? these questions keep circling their minds I grab the first-aid kit, and my raincoat, even my umbrella, and hold on tight, to evacuate I see the treacherous sight, palm trees being blown away, rain coming down like hot molten rocks, high winds, almost blow me away But I don't give up without a fight, I hold on to my hood, grasp on to my umbrella, try to open my eyes wide, and rush to the building I feel a ton of weight, a couple of boulders, pushing against me, slowing me, and backing me up I stiffen up, becoming, bold and brave, I show this storm, I am the boss of myself I face the wind, I face the storm, I face the lightning, I face the thunder, I face this storm Soon I make it, to the building, where I sit down, on the nearest bench, I saw I close my eyes, breathing heavily, and then sigh thinking deep, worrying My heart, beats faster, my brain, full of questions, and uncertainty Soon, coming back, to reality, I look up, and down I place, my umbrella, right next to me, and my first-aid kit, on the table I squeeze, onto my coat, hoping, waiting, for this to pass Deep breath in, and a deep breath out, I utter, trying to, reassure me I look around, and scan, everyone's, panicked faces, unsettling thoughts I look outside, hoping something has changed, alas, the world isn't magical, and fair Trees, topple, on each other, in a diagonal line, falling on the ground I pray, looking miserably, trying, to get this sight, out of my brain My hands, they clench, my feet, they compress, my eyes shut I try to remember, all the times, I felt happy, all the times, I smiled Hoping, to distract, myself, from this, disastrous scene I wait, for a few more minutes, soon, without me even knowing, they turn into hours Just when I lost all hope, I look around, to see people, celebrating, cheering I brighten up, my smile wide, for when I look, up into the sky, the storm long gone No more winds, no more rain, no more thunder, no more lightning, no more storm I pick up all my supplies, I stand up, I feel the moist, as I stare, alone in the night sky I feel relaxed, I feel happy, I feel joy, Oh! This wondrous feeling I yell, I shout, I scream, I holler, "It's gone!" I feel proud, of myself, for I withstood, a tropical, dangerous storm Not only poetry, but this girl also has a website she has made for herself! She should have shared it with other Reedsy members before, but she completely forgot to. So, she will put the link below to her website called β€œThoughts in Bites” below! But here is a quick overview of her website. In there, she writes poems, stories, and lots and lots of book reviews and book suggestions on her website. Her posting schedule currently is daily, and she has over 100 posts and is hoping to continue doing more posts on there.
