By the time I stepped outside the leaves were on fire, I guess someone let out the mischievous flamlings. They were supposed to be in a fireproof room in the back of the Laboratory.
The alarms kept blaring, as men in white coats ran around like the world was ending. I walked over to the tree and circled it, wondering how I was going to catch them without getting toasted. They were tiny little orange and red creatures that looked like a cross between a butterfly and a frog. They were perched on various branches, giggling. Giggling really, I thought as I watched the labbies still running around then smash into each other. I slapped my forehead, how did they get those lab coats acting like morons it was just one tree. I shook my head nope slash that two trees, they were flying to a new one. It was the middle of fall so almost everything was dry and brittle, why couldn’t the field labbies have transported them during the winter. But now the head honcho wanted all the specimens from the new world they had discovered through a portal brought to him now.
I kept walking around calmly thinking, what did they eat? What did they respond to? Huh! my face fell I got nothing. Swishing my mouth around I looked towards the entrance and decided to go back inside to see if anyone knew what to do. We were pretty isolated out here so the fires wouldn’t spread far, as I was going through the giant double doors, men in black nano armor brushed by me. I quickly scrambled out of the way, tilting my head I watched as they surrounded the trees, now three were on fire at this rate the whole grove would be on fire.
Everyone looked up as a dome was dropped from above and they were sealed inside. I covered my mouth in astonishment, they were going to suffocate the poor creatures. I took a few steps forward mind racing trying to figure out a way to stop this, I ended up in front of the dome surrounded by the men they were watching me through black glass helmets that was molded to their heads. The flameling were falling from the trees like little shooting stars, burning the grass around them to ash as they landed. No no I thought, I started beating on the glass dome trying in desperation to break it, these were living creatures even if they were dangerous, they probably didn’t know better in their world things didn’t set of fire as easily.
Suddenly everything went silent and then I heard screams coming from the other side of the building. The crowd of nano soldiers turned alerted to the chaos. I crept towards the noises and saw that a new portal had opened on the side of the building. A ten-foot flame appeared from it and moved toward the dome. But as soon as I got closer to the scene, I saw it wasn’t a regular fire it was a humanoid shape with flowing hair a very muscular male body that obscured his groin from view. He tilted his head sneering at the dome. Placing his hand on the smooth glass it instantly melted and the flamlings took to the air heading for the other trees. The flaming man made a roaring noise and they stopped hovering in place. Strange lilting noises came dancing from his lips I guessed he was talking. The flamlings flew to the flame man, circling his head, he gestured to the portal and they disappeared into the shimmering exit.
Well one problem solved but in its placed a new one formed ever bigger then the first. The man looked to be incredibly angry as he stood there looking down at the nano soldiers with his arms crossed over his chest. I stayed far behind them, for safety. The leader was talking into his com, the others were bringing up shields. The idiots in lab coats were still running around screaming. I shook my head I hope this new being didn’t think we were all like this. I walked toward the leader of the group wondering if I could help, I oversaw the more intelligent beings that they had brought through, but none of them seemed to be this in control of the others. This one could control the most troublesome things that they had brought through. I was glad they were gone, trying to keep them contained was a twenty-four-hour job, and extremely dangerous, everything they touched burst into flames. They could control what they set on fire like people who wanted to tease them.
“How can I help you”? The leader of the nano soldiers turned toward me.
“I think we should try to communicate before he just attacks”, I explained to him.
“Go ahead and give it try”.
I nodded confused that he would actually let me I guess the boss gave him the okay. Approaching the man, I tapped my ear activating the translator I would be able to talk to the flaming man and the device would relay data back to me but it would take a few mins of conversation to get the program to process the language.
“Hello, I'm here to ask what it is that you need of us?”
The man spoke and the translate beeped in my ear which meant it was processing.
“We didn’t mean any harm to come to the creatures we are studying.” I bit my lip, he started to yell.
“You invaded my world then took my people prisoners. I take that as an act of war!” He blasted at me, I stumbled back a step, blistering air whooshed over me. The program worked a lot faster than I thought it would the labbies would be jumping with glee at the data they would be getting from the new language. But wait he said act of war. What had those idiots done to bring in the one in the containment cells.
I looked back at the leader of the nano soldiers then back at the flaming man.
“We did not mean to harm anything and we are studying them not hurting them,” I hoped they weren't hurting the ones that I had no access to.
“Then what do you call what I just stopped?” he waved his hand towards the crisp trees and what was left of the dome.
“Containment so they didn’t destroy more, but I do not agree with the way they did it.”
“Enough! Tell your leaders that your act of aggregation toward my world means this is war. Unless repercussions' can be met.”
Well I guess we are going to be at war with another dimension humans are idiots!
