Fantasy Romance Drama

“Turn me” I found myself spewing out the words before I fully realized it. Kaleb looked at me with serious eyes but then smiled, his fangs showing in the dim light of nightclub. He motioned for me to follow him with his finger and disappeared behind a pair of dark Red velvet curtains next to the VIP section that we were in. I obeyed and followed him in a secluded room with a grey couch and a mirror across from it. Kaleb turned to face me, towering over my slender figure with his massive, tattooed chest peaking from his black button-down shirt. I felt out of place in my Sunday best dress that had tiny daisies scattered all over it. “I’m only going to ask once, are you sure about this?” he offered my out. I nodded and swallowed hard. Satisfied with my answer he sat in the middle of the couch and pulled me onto his lap. Facing him I was forced to awkwardly straddle his lap. Kaleb moved my long brown hair to one shoulder, exposing my neck on one side. “This isn’t going to feel good but remember the pain wont last”. I half smiled not knowing what to do or where to put my hands. I settled for resting them against his chest. His dark eyes began to change color, going from the darkest of brown to a blood red. He ran his fingers through his short black hair and took a deep breath. Grabbing both sides of my head he pulled me into him. A sharp stinging pain began where he bit me. ‘This isn’t so bad- ‘I started to think until the burning started. My neck felt like it was on fire and the feeling moved down into my chest and out through my whole body. I couldn’t take it, whimpering I began to instinctively push him off me, but his strong hands had me pinned. I began to scream but who would hear me with the club music blaring. I felt dizzy and sick to my stomach, my vision of the dark curtains slowly faded out until I went unconscious.

I tried opening my eyes, but I was still so dizzy. ‘What happened last night?’ I tried wracking my brain for the events hours before. I remembered coming home from work early, pulling into the driveway and seeing my husband’s car parked there. ‘Jason’s home early’ I thought getting out of my own car. I checked the mail and saw a red sports car parked by our mailbox on the road. I didn’t think anything of it and went inside. I threw my keys on the table as I walked through the house and set the mail on the counter in the kitchen. The big new construction model home was quiet. Jason’s home office was upstairs, so I decided to go and see why he was home early from work. Usually, it was the other way around and he was late from work. Being a CEO of an investor firm kept him in the office more than I liked. I started up the stairs but stopped on the fourth step when I saw the first shirt. A woman’s white blouse sat crumpled and inside out. I looked up the stairs and on every other step was an article of clothing. ‘no, no, no’ I began panicking. He wouldn’t dare… I began to run upstairs and stopped once I reached our bedroom door. ‘I should just go’ I thought but I couldn’t stop my hand from turning the knob. Jason and his perky blonde coworker were naked and laughing happily in our bed. The door squeaked and their eyes darted towards me. I exhaled loudly, turned and ran downstairs. I went to the laundry room and grabbed my bright orange beach bag and opened the dryer and emptied all my clean clothes in the bag. I grabbed my keys off the table and two pairs of shoes by the door before escaping in my car.

Shaking like a leaf I drove to the closest hotel I knew off the throughway. I must of looked like a mess as when I entered the lobby because the worker behind the desk raised her eyebrows at me with a disgusted look on her face. “I need a room” my voice was even shaking. The older woman eyed me up and down but proceeded with the normal questions and types of rooms available. I picked a suite with a king size bed and a soaking tub. Once in the elevator my beach bag and purse felt like a thousand pounds. My eyes were heavy, and I knew the tears were coming. I hurried to my room on the 5th floor and dumped my stuff on the sofa as I entered the suite and collapsed in the bed to let out the flood of tears, I had been holding in. I must have cried myself to sleep.

I awoke to the dark hotel room and a wet pillow. I reached for the lap next to the bed and turned it on. My eyes felt swollen, and my nose was stuffed up still. I decided to take advantage of the soaking tub and hoped it would help my sinuses as well. I left the light off and used the complimentary candles they left on the bathroom sink for me. Soaking in the hot water I debated on what to do next. I could call our families and vent, but I didn’t feel like talking to anyone. I could burn the house down Jason, and I just bought a year ago I contemplated ‘With him in it’ I snort laughed at my thoughts. I’m going to do the most adult thing I can think of, I’m going to go out and get drunk and dance! I smiled to myself, ok maybe not the most adult thing I could do but definitely the most fun thing I could think of at the moment.

I got out of the tub and dried myself off. I looked in my beach bag at choices of outfits the dryer provided me. The only thing that was even close to club worthy would be my dress with daisies on it that I wore to brunch the week before with my parents. ‘I’m going to look like a virgin in there’ I thought to myself. Not having much of a choice I put It on with a clean pair of underwear and dried my hair with the hotel dryer. I dug lip stick out of my purse and a stick of gum since I forgot to grab my toothbrush. Lastly, I put on my sandals that I grabbed hours before and headed out the door.

I decided to try a new place is town that my friend Stephanie told me about. The Club was called Elixir and was one of the few vampire owned bars. They serve booze and blood there and even “Mix” drinks if you catch my drift. Locals all over go for the curiosity of it all and to try the special drinks. A coworker of mine who is a vampire was turned in that very club. Being a vampire with the perks is very handy when you’re a nurse. She is Fast, never needs sleep or gets really fatigued, the blood never grosses her out, She doesn’t need retirement because she doesn’t age, and she can move the heavy equipment by herself. Vampires have been in our society for some years now and sure not all places welcome them but at the clinic we work at everyone loves her. Then it hit me…. “Oh my gosh” I said out loud to myself in my car. I could have them Turn me into a vampire. She told me the club rules, If you order a Vampires Kiss at the bar which isn’t on their menu or even widely known, A man will approach you and you slip him a grand and he will take you to the VIP room where you ‘could’ be turned. They have a choice to turn you away if they don’t like you and keep your money. Stephanie told me the Vampire who runs it is very old and has the power to read people and know everything about them with one touch. I guess its sort of a way for them to populate the earth more as when they first came out there wasn’t very many of them.

I ran the idea through my mind over and over. I made a list of all the Pros and Cons. Pro- Jason will grow old and Ill still be young and good looking, Pro- I could snap his slut coworker like a twig, Pro- my job would still accept me. Con- would my family accept me? Con- Do I even want to live forever or until I choose not to? So many questions and scenarios were running through my mind when I walked into the club.

Mainstream music was blaring, and the place was completely crowded. I made my way to the bar and before I could change my mind, I ordered the Vampire Kiss. The bartender nodded at me and disappeared through a door behind the bar for a few minutes and returned with a drink. The Vampire kiss was red and in a martini glass. The bartender set it down and took out his cell and started texting. He watched me pick it up, I decided to just down it and not smell or sip it incase It was disgusting. I didn’t want to look like a light weight. One swig and it was down, it tasted like pure booze with a hint of berry. I set the glass down and stared back at him as he texted again. I looked around the club waiting for the said man to approach me. The dance floor was flooded with young girls in skimpy outfits, the bar area was mostly couples, probably on their first dates, there were stairs to the right, but they were blocked off by two very intimidating men. I was busy people watching and didn’t notice a man approach me, probably in his 40s, he was bald and in shape. He gave me Vin Diesel vibes. “Follow me” he ordered in a deep voice. I didn’t get a good look at his teeth, so I had no idea if he was a vampire or not. I got up from my stool and grabbed my purse and followed him. We went straight to the stairs where the Vin Diesel Man nodded at the two guards and they let us up the stairs. We went straight to a VIP lounge area where a beautiful woman was talking to a young guy and another man was sitting in a leather chair. He was strikingly handsome. Short black hair, dark eyes, I could tell he was tall even with him sitting down. I was gestured to sit down across from him, and I didn’t argue. I smoothed my dress out as it was still a little wrinkled from the dryer. I avoided eye contact and began to wonder what the hell I was doing. He cleared his throat “I’m Kaleb” he said in a low smooth voice. “I’m Mia” I stammered. He offered his hand out, I assumed this was where he would learn everything about me. I quickly wondered how that worked but I didn’t have time to ponder it too much. I slowly placed my hand in his and watched his face. He closed his eyes immediately and began to move both his hands over mine and tilted his head back and forth. He pulled away and opened his eyes to stare at me. I could feel my pulse quicken as I waited for his decision. He could know everything about me in that one touch, Even my deepest darkest secrets and desires. Did I even know what they were? My mind raced and tried to imagine what he saw.

“Yes” he stated. “Yes”? I questioned he simply nodded. Why isn’t he saying anything else I internally panicked. He sat back in his chair and smiled. I stared back at him, God his was attractive.

“Turn me”.
