Thriller Mystery

¨MOM! Tell Bee to come play with me,¨!

Mom smiled, ¨Alice, Bee is doing her homework, she can´t play with you,¨.

¨She's ALWAYS doing homework,” Alice turned and headed to the couch.

¨Why don´t you help me make food,¨?

¨I don't want to make food with you dad,¨.

Alice laid down on the couch and grabbed her iPad. Mom and Dad laughed when a weird nose happened. It sounded like someone dropped a huge metal pipe, then all the power in the house went out.

¨What just happened,¨ Mom got up from her chair.

¨Mom, my computer just shut-off on me,¨ Bee showed Mom her computer screen and began clicking buttons. It was just black and nothing was happening.

¨Maybe your computer just died on you,¨ Dad put his phone down on the counter.

¨Maybe, I haven't charged it for a while,¨ Bee closes her computer and puts it on the isle.

¨Yeah, my Ipad turned off on me too,¨ Alice said. She gave Mom her Ipad and mom just said, ¨Alice your Ipad is always dead, so it definitely died on you,¨.

¨It's too much work to charge it though,” Alice leaned against Mom.

¨Well these ribs aren’t going to be cooked without the oven. So, what are we going to eat,¨ Dad said while he started wrapping the ribs with foil. ¨It's not like we can open the fridge. We don't want to lose the freshness there,¨.

Mom sighed and looked to the left of the counter near the fridge, ¨I thought I told you two to put the weenies away. You both ate hot dogs in the mornings at 7 now,¨ Mom sighed then said ¨Well, I guess we can have hot dogs,¨.

¨Yeah, I can put the stones back on the fire pit and we can roast them,¨ Dad nodded his head.

¨Oooooooo, and can we camp out there too,¨ Alice jumped up and down.

¨I don't see why we can´t, hahahaha we can go camping out in our backyard,¨ Dad turned towards the right side of the counters and grabbed a flashlight.

¨Here you girls go get the stuff from the garage and be careful. Mom and I will be here getting stuff to eat, kay,¨.

¨Kay,¨ Bee grabbed the flashlight from Dad and told Alice to come on.

Once Dad couldn't see their light he turned towards Mom, ¨Kara, I don't know what’s happening,¨?

¨Jake, what are you talking about, the power just went out,¨ Kara looked confused.

¨No, that´s not what I meant. My phone...it's dead,¨ Jake picked his phone up and showed Kara. He pressed the power button, swiped his phone, even held the power button. Nothing happened, it was dead.

¨How is that possible, your phone is LITERALLY charged,¨ Kara grabbed his phone.

¨That's what I mean, it just doesn't make sense,¨ Jake turned towards the stove and tried to turn it on. ¨The stove uses gas so how is it not turning on,¨.

Kara didn't say anything, both stood there without saying a word, until they heard screaming, Alice and Bee´s screams.

They both ran towards the garbage, when they got to the garage door it was closed. Jake opened it and ran inside, Kara right behind him.

The garage was dark, the only light was the little bit of moonlight coming in and the girl´s flashlight. Bee was shielding Alice with her body, covering her eyes. The flashlight on the floor pointing towards the right side of the garage.

¨WHAT WHAT HAPPENED,¨! Jake and Kara speaking at the same time, ran towards the girls.

Both were crying, and when they saw Jake and Kara they hugged them tightly. Bee spoke ¨something is behind the car,¨.

Jake turned towards the car, he tapped on Bee´s head and Bee grabbed Kara. Jake nodded and Kara backed up, there was an extra flashlight kept in the garage, so Kara grabbed it. She handed the girls the sleeping bags and held the tent.

Without any words being said between them, Kara pushed the girl towards the door, when all of them were through the door she closed it. Leaving Jake and whatever was in the garage with him. Jake slowly walked over to the flashlight on the floor and picked it up. Then slowly walked a little more till he grabbed the metal bat.

Jake squatted down to look under the car, thinking he might see someone´s feet, but nothing. So, he looked through the windows without moving and still nothing. Then he ran around the car, fast. It wasn't a big or long car so even if he went to one side he would be able to see someone...but nothing, no one was there.

¨Maybe the girls were just seeing things,¨ and started towards the door. Jake grabbed the door and was about to turn the knob when he felt someone watching him. Quickly, he turned around squeezing the bat. Nothing in the garage was quiet, not even a cricket made a sound. Yet, he felt eyes on him, watching his every move.

Jake opened the door, ran inside, and quickly closed the door, locking it. He leaned against the door, he was breathing fast. A minute passed, and he left the door. Jake started to walk towards the kitchen to head to the back when he heard ¨DAD,¨!

It sounded like Alice, so he looked down the hallway that led to his and Kara´s bedroom, Alice was standing there, she spoke again ¨Dad can you help me,¨?

¨Yeah,¨ Jake started walking towards the room, until he was in the doorway, he stopped in his tracks. Why would Alice be in here, she was terrified so, why would Kara send her here.

Alice ran into their bathroom and her voice changed a little, "¨¨¨Dad, I need help,¨ she sounded like she was singing the words. Jake´s entire body, no his entire being told him not to go in there. His body was screaming to run but a small piece told him that what if Alice really needed help.

I...I can't go in there.

Jake´s grip on his bat got tighter, and the voice spoke again, ¨Dad, where did you go,¨? Jake moved his left foot back slowly when a hand grabbed his shoulder. Jake swung the bat backward and hit the family picture on the wall. The glass broke and the picture fell on the ground. Whatever grabbed him was gone.

¨DAD, what happened, do you need help, I’m coming,¨!

Jake ran to the kitchen and didn't stop until he was outside. Jake slammed the sliding door shut and backed up. Kara and the girls were setting up the tent.

¨You girls keep setting up the tent, okay,¨. Kara walked over to Jake and put her hand on the same shoulder where he was touched.

Jake screamed and lifted the bat towards her. Breathing heavy, shaking, and freaking out. Jake noticed it was Kara and dropped his bat, ¨I´m so sorry Kara. I…I...I just don't know...Alice is in our room and I ran,¨.

¨Jake, what are you talking about, Alice is setting up the tent with Bee,¨ Kara pointed towards the tent where Alice was standing.

Jake's eyes widened ¨NO NO NO NO,¨! Jake shook his head. ¨She was just in our room, she...she...Kara something is in the house,¨.

Kara could tell something was wrong, Jake was freaking out. ¨Okay, tell me about it, but first, do you think it's okay to put the stone on the fireplace for the girls,¨.

¨Yeah, yeah,¨ Jake started putting the stones on the fireplace. When he was finished Kara lit it so the girls could cook their hot dogs.

¨HEY, DID YOU GUY´S POWER GO OUT,¨!  It was Toby, their next store neighbors, and childhood best friend.

¨YEAH, YOU TOO,¨ Jake yelled!

¨YEAH, IS IT COOL IF WE COME OVER,¨!

¨YES IT IS,¨!

Toby opened the gate they had in their backyard and looked behind him. His son Micheal and daughter Poppy came through and went straight to Bee and Alice. Then his wife, Maria came over with a thing of water bottles, Both headed towards Jake and Kara.

¨You two make sure you eat, Bee shows them where everything is okay. We are going to be over here, so if you need help just ask,¨ Kara pointed to a small table on the patio.

¨Hey man are you okay. You look like you're about to throw up,¨ Toby punched his arm.

¨Something is in the house,¨ Jake didn't hesitate.

¨Something,¨ Maria asked?

¨Yes,¨ Jake told Toby and Maria everything that happened and when he finished Maria chuckled.

¨Your joking right,¨?

¨No I'm not, what I'm saying is all true,¨.

¨Oh my god, Jake...are...are you,¨ Kara sounded worried.

¨Yes, I´m just freaking out,¨.

¨MOM DAD,¨ Bee and Micheal both yelled. All the adults looked to the kids, all four of them terrified.

¨What, what's wrong,¨ Maria asked. All in unison the kids pointed, their fingers pointing behind the parents. Quiet fill the air, not even the fire crackling was heard. Slowly the adults looked behind them and all that they saw was a girl.

A girl standing in the living room had her head facing down. All that could be made was that she was wearing a dress, a torn dress. Slowly the girl lifted her head, her eyes were bleeding and she was smiling. Slowly she started walking over to the door, then she walked faster and faster until she was running. All the kids screamed and Toby and Jake ran for the door. They held it shut, and she hit the door hard. Banging against it, slamming her palms on the glass door, screaming. Her palms were bloody, everytime she hit the glass a red palm was left.

The thing slammed her head against the glass, it was laughing as blood came out of her forehead. The glass breaking, about to shatter.

¨GET THE TABLE, BRING US THE TABLE,¨!

Kara ran to the table and tried to drag it. The table was heavy and Kara yelled, ¨MARIA COME HELP,¨!

Maria shook her head and backed up, ¨No, no, I...I,¨. Hugging her body Maria started crying.

¨MARIA HURRY UP,¨ Toby and Jake yelled!

¨I CAN´T, I JUST CAN´T,¨ Maria screamed!

Then Micheal ran past her to help Kara with the table, and behind him was Bee.

¨MICHEAL NO GET BACK HERE,¨!

Micheal and Bee helped Kara drag the table to Toby and Jake. The table was right behind the boys when the glass shattered. Toby and Jack jumped back, standing in front of the table. The thing just stood there, smiling.

The guys didn't hesitate they grabbed the table and flipped in and slammed it against the door. From the cracks, they saw her. She lifted her bloodied hand up and licked the blood, and smiled. All behind her, from the pitch-black, it grew darker. The thing stepped back and she was gone.

The guys breathing heavy looked around the yard, they had to block it up. Both Toby and Jake ran around the yard blocking up the door and looking for weapons.

¨MICHEAL WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING,¨ Maria was mad, she raised her hand to hit Micheal but Kara grabbed her hand.

¨NO WHAT WERE YOU THINK, YOUR LUCKY NOTHING HAPPENED. Tch we could have died yet you were just screaming. Don't you dare blame your son for at least PROTECTING his family unlike you,¨ Kara said.

Maria yelled back at Kara, luckily Toby grabbed Maria and shook her.

¨You kids go in the tent and close it,¨ Jake gave Micheal a broomstick they had found.

Bee and Micheal took the two little kids back to the tent. The girls were scared out of their mind, tears all over their faces.

Toby talked to Maria but she didn't listen. Maria wanted to leave, she wanted to get out of here.

¨Maria we don't know why it didn't come out here, we also don't know where it came from. The best chance we have right now is to stay here,¨ Toby said calmly.

¨No, we don´t know when it will come out here, what we are going to do when we see it again? Just invite it out here for hot dogs like, Yeah we allow you to come out here,¨ Maria threw up her arms.

¨Don't say that ¨ Kara still sounded pissed.

¨Say what, that we invite it out here,¨ Maria said sarcastically.

¨YEAH, we don't know what it is, so don't say that,¨.

¨Lets just calm down, we are scaring the kids. Just take a deep breath,¨ Jake hands were shaking.

Silence fell between them, then scratching came from inside. Like a dog scratching at a door. With each scratch sound, it got louder and louder. They looked through the cracks of the table and saw red eyes. Growl and laughing mixed which made it sound terrifying. The growling sounded like it was coming from all over the backyard.

A black dog, with red eyes, came from the side of the house and was creeping forward and stopped when Kara looked at it.

¨Oh my god, Jake the kids, what are we going to do,¨. Kara grabbed Jake.

A loud growl came from behind them making all the adults look back. Nothing was there, when they turned back to the dog, it had moved A LOT. Maria hid behind Toby.

¨Hey is it just me or does it move when we don´t look,¨ Jake said.

¨I think you might be right. Wanna test it out,¨ Toby said.

¨WHAT ARE YOU INSANE DON´T BE A FUC-¨ Maria was cut off.

¨Yeah, everyone looks away, count to two really fast then look back. If it really is moving when we look away then this might be bad,¨ Jake nodded and looked down.

2 seconds later everyone looked back and the dog moved a lot. Everyone was breathing heavily.

¨Shit,¨.

¨What do we do,¨ Maria said?

¨We don´t look away, no matter what. It's like a weeping angel, as long as we don´t look away it's okay. At Least one person has to be looking so...¨ Jake stopped talking.

¨We can take turns,¨ Kara finished for him, ¨ummm, I´ll… I´ll go first,¨.

Noises happened all around them, Maria refused to look at it, so she cared for the kids. Everything was peaceful until something started to sing.

¨Don´t be sad, says the moon. I´ll be next to you. When you cry, I´ll cry too, I´ll be here for youthe voice started to hum.

Jake was watching the dog, ¨what's happening guys,¨!

¨The- the tables bleeding,¨ Toby sounded terrified.

¨What, what does that mean,¨! Silence filled the air. The singing, the humming stopped. ¨Toby… Toby stops playing around man,¨. Jaked heart started speeding up, he started breathing faster.

¨Kara,¨! Silence again, then arms wrapped around his neck, and a soft voice spoke, it was Alice´s voice. It was the voice from earlier ¨Dad, why didn't you come to help me,¨?

In the tent tears ran down everyone's eyes, they heard everything, they heard a loud crack sound. The fire started flickering. Shadows walked around the tent. A woman, a man, a dog, a creature, randomly growls happened, scratching, screams.

¨Children,¨ the voice sang their words ¨I won't hurt you, I just want to help you. I can´t help you from out here, so let me in,¨

Maria put her finger to her lips, as she held all the children. Silence not even breathing was heard.

¨Maria, Maria open up please, it got them. It got Jake and Toby, it's gonna get me open the tent, Maria, MARIA,¨ it sounded just like Kara. Alice tugged Maria's shirt, and Maria hugged her tighter. This wasn't Kara.

¨MARIA OPEN THE DAMN TENT,¨ the thing started to hit the tent. ¨AHAHAHAHAHA you can´t stay in there forever when you get out. How about a deal Maria, If you give me the kids, I´ll let you live. You could walk out of here, nothing will ever get you, what do you say,¨.

No one spoke, once again silence filled the air. ¨Fine, then,¨.

The fire which was their only source of light went out. The flashlight was outside the tent. They sat there in the dark, terrified. If they left the tent, they knew they wouldn't make it out of the tent.

Nathaly, your storyline is good however there were typos, and grammar. For instance "Why don't you help me make food? Try "why don't you help me with dinner?" asked dad. It will make the storyline flow smoother. Also, another writer made a suggestion to me so I will pass that along: read your stories outloud to make sure the story flows smoothly and that the grammar is correct. I started doing that and it has helped a great deal. Keep writing. If you have a moment perhaps it could read my story Cold is Cold But This Is Ridiculous an...
