Suspense Thriller Fiction

It had been twenty-four years since she'd last seen it, but the place looked exactly the same. She could smell the burning incense from a mile away, the euphoric scent of soil after a swift rain. The ground below her were soft and they sloshed under each step, her eyes shifted to each area, trying to see if anyone had followed her here. Thankfully, she saw no one. This was good. She wanted to be alone with him. A smile creeped up her lips as she sighs. Looking back to the path she was passing by, she could see the spray painted sigils on each broken wall and debris. The leaves among the fall trees rustling along the deep set and cold autumn air. The woman shivered slightly as she looked around, bringing one hand to gently run down her opposite arm, it was cold, but that was expected. She was glad that she had layered up, wearing her best winter coat, wigh her matching gloves and dark leggings. He had said that he wanted to see her in her prettiest, so she always had something new to wear for him, not that he had noticed much, but she still put effort in everything.

The sky was starting to turn dark, much earlier than expected, but she did not turn around, instead she began to pick up her pace. It only opened at a specific time, and this happened only once a year. She had to see if the inside was still safe, she wanted to see if he was still there, waiting for her. And she missed him as well, she missed his dark brown hair, his light green eyes. She missed how fast they shifted from anger to the softness that he used to show her before they dated all those years ago. A slight tremor of excitement filled her when she realized she'd be able to hug him again. She raised her hands up to her lips, her fingers touching the red and trembling flesh. She could kiss him again, after all these years. The woman knew she was close when she heard the sound of the rumbling train tracks, the soft whine from a train and the lights that came from nowhere.

Despite all this, the train was nowhere to be seen. The smell of incense was much stronger now as she sees the dark tunnel. For a split second, she thought she saw a figure run around from the inside, though she paid this no mind. Instead she walked in, staying close to the side, her hand along the walls, softly brushing against the moss and the stone, using this to help her walk in without getting lost. Every now and then she felt sometbing brushing against her shoulder, or playing with her hair, tugging at her clothes. Again, she didn't pay any attention to this. Just trying to get to him, to see him and touch him. Make love to him after all this time.

After a bit, her fingers would turn cold, meeting metal. The woman smiled and began to pat it down, looking for a handle. After a bit she was able to find it despite the darkness. This time, she could hear soft whispers and she knew that he was still in there waiting for her. She took out a key from her pockets, running her hands around until she met the keyhole, opening the small door to a secret room which she had to crawl into. Inside, it was well lit, and she quickly had to close the door behind her just so she wouldn't get caught, so other women wouldn't be able to follow her in and steal him away from her just like before. A small sigh of relief escaped her cold lips as she sees him. Hands still tied and lips still sealed, the only difference was the rotting flesh that had crept up his body and the intense smell that filled the room. She wrinkled her nose and looked around for some incense.

It was a miracle this place still hasn't burned to the ground, but at least he was still here. She made sure to light them up before walking towards him, sitting in front of the man who she used to do everything with. Brushing her hands along his hair as she stared at him. His light green eyes which had slowly began to rot, infested with maggots were calm, and he wasn't aggresive right now. She was glad that he had turned back to being like this. Being her loving and silent lover. It was a hassle having to come here again after years, but she had to keep her secret safe, even if she had to walk all the way here. Having him here and with no one else filled her soul with happiness.

"Im so sorry that I left you like this all this time. You know you had to learn from your mistakes baby." She said, as she moved to his side, laying her head along his rotting shoulder, closing her eyes. "You don't cheat on me and get away with it. But don't worry.." She looked up at him, raising a hand to run down his chiseled jaw. "I still love you, and I know you won't do it again." She bites her lips before pushing him down. And that night, they made love. After twenty-four long years they were able to reconnect.

This was all so easy to confess in court. And she felt no remorse or guilt from killing him and keeping his corpse. Because it was all out of love and care, she wanted to protect him. Confusion filled her face when she saw the disgust from her mother's face. But she hardly cared, she heard the screaming from his family's side, though that only made her laugh. They called her a psychopath, but she only wanted to be with the person she loved. She cared for him, pleasured him and loved him. Her mind was filled with him, and his smell, the incense, his body against hers and that was all that mattered.
