I wanted to try something different from my usual takeout. If a salad with spicy chicken was that good, I wonder what a spicy chicken sandwich would taste like. I didn't expect that chicken sandwich to be so spicy that I would get sick from it. This was not something I thought would happen. I had to use milk and chocolate to counteract the spiciness I felt in my mouth. It was scary that my mouth and throat both felt like they were on fire. Little did I know that the impact of the spice had only just begun.
My stomach was hurting, making me feel hot and like I could combust and burst at any second. When I went to bed, I heard what sounded like a plane flying overhead followed by a storm. I freaked out, fearing the destruction of the house possibly. I hated thunderstorms because I felt like I could get hit by a bolt of lightning in my sleep as well as the potential for nasty tornadoes.
I went to sleep, only to find I was flying in the air, like I was soaring above the town I lived in. I then felt something hit me, but it didn't hurt. I looked back to see jets following me before I did a corkscrew spin to destroy the jets with the force of a tornado. I flew fast before going towards the ground from feeling some pain in my stomach.
I jolted up, awake. I looked outside to find some of the neighborhood houses in shambles except for the houses around my own. What was that I dreamt? Did a storm do all this? That's too scary to be true. I remember it was like an airplane that flew over the neighborhood last night, but to do this much damage, it was unreal.
I looked on the TV and saw people were talking about seeing a weird flying object within the storm that supposedly destroyed jets. People were calling it a bad omen of the end times or a herald from the heavens. It seemed too dramatic to say that when the weather had been erratic lately, going from snowy to decently warm within a week alone. People should know the effects of climate change by now, and yet this neighborhood somehow doesn't believe that. My stomach hurt from hearing about all this weirdness and then seeing the sky outside darken a bit so suddenly.
I needed to take it easy for today while still feeling the effects of that spicy chicken sandwich from yesterday, so I passed out on the couch after a bit of time, indulging in some ice cream. I found myself floating up away from a forest to the dark storm clouds, away from home somehow. I noticed I looked like a bird dragon with jet-like wings. I was in agony though despite not feeling like a human right now. I couldn't ponder what was going on for very long. There were people shooting nets to bring me down to the ground once more, but they couldn't understand what I was going through. I wasn't trying to wreak this havoc on purpose; I just wanted to be left alone. Who were these people to try to make me bow down to them?
Before I knew it, I was roaring like a monster in pain, which caused the storm to intensify and the sky around the area to darken further. This spooked the people who were trying to bring me down, more afraid of the lightning hitting them than of my own power. I flew off with intense speed, evading more jets that came out of nowhere and tried shooting at me. I slowed down, letting them go past me before I breathed out bolts of lightning to destroy the flying machines. It was like I was on fire though, but it wasn't as intense as before, not when there was cold wind beside me. I shrieked out a loud noise from the intense rage I had for people trying to capture me like I was some animal to show off in some zoo or circus.
I got up at the sound of the tornado sirens blaring out of nowhere, as if the bell of the apocalypse was tolling for this area. I grabbed what I needed in case something happened to the house, and headed for the basement without taking any chances. I hid in the bathroom without windows luckily as I tried to keep calm during the storm happening outside. It sounded like a monstrous shriek had pierced through the walls that had very poor sound-proofing. The shriek resembled the same one I roared out in that dream. What was happening to me? Is this monster in the same kind of pain as me? How is it that I'm connected to it and this storm?
The storm was short, but it felt like hours had passed before the rumbling and thundering had stopped. My cats had come out of hiding from the small spaces within the basement as if they knew the worst was over. I came out, feeling a little better in the stomach, and when I came up the stairs, I was surprised to see the house was actually intact and the neighborhood wasn't any worse than it was the previous night. I checked the news to make sure, and I saw that there were a lot of tornadoes around the area in a hurricane like path across from here to several towns over before disappearing completely. It was like the monster went up into the sky to the stars it called home. Maybe this monster wasn't well either and wasn't trying to hurt anyone on purpose. The destruction just happened because of not knowing its own power while sick.
I went up to bed to take it easy on my stomach feeling better and it felt like I was soaring freely as the storm monster. I woke up, seeing that the neighborhood was fine after a few hours of rest. Perhaps the damage done was all in my head, but that all felt unreal.
