“Hey, what do you think we should do for our next play fight?” Jay asks Dallas, stuffing his face full of warm, mushy mashed potatoes his mom made for him.
“Hmm, I don’t know” Dallas replied, shoving his face full of green beans instead. He puts his finger up to the side of his head, thinking hard about just what to add that would make it new and exciting. Jay and Dallas are both brothers with a wild imagination, as any eleven year old boy should. One of their favorite things in the world was to imagine an “epic” play fight. However they couldn’t always agree on what to imagine for the next one. Jay wanted huge monsters like dragons or big strong evil knights. While on the other hand Dallas wanted scary monsters like skinwalkers or killer clowns. “How about we have an evil king this time?” Jay asked Dallas, who is stuffing his face with more green beans than he can count.
“But we’ve already done that before” Dallas responds. “What about something like a scary pumpkin who eats people” He recommends.
“No, that sounds too scary,” Jay answered.
“It’s not that scary,” Dallas says, pouting and sticking his tongue out at Jay.
“Yeah huh, it is too scary” Jay responds, standing up and pulling down on Jay’s tongue.
“Ouch, that hurt” Dallas yells, lightly touching his tongue. Jay suddenly had the look of an idea. If you looked hard enough, you could probably see a light bulb over his head.
“I have an idea, what about we fight each other this time?” Jay recommends with a mischievous looking grin on his face. From seemingly out of the blue, a huge gust of wind starts forming in the house as all of the plates and furniture goes flying. Dallas grins, “Yeah, That sounds like a great idea,” he responds, eager to start the fight. As the gust of wind gets stronger, the walls of the house suddenly begin to collapse. The wind roars and rips the roof of the house right off. Outside of the house is a barren wasteland, no trees, no grass, nothing. “Are you ready?” Jay asks, almost in a challenging sort of tone. He slowly slides his right foot back, while also putting his hands in a fighting position.
Dallas examines Jay’s movements closely. “Born ready” Dallas responds, shifting his body to the right and putting his hands behind his back. Jay suddenly lunges forward at seemingly impossible speeds, however Dallas somehow manages to dodge it, despite its speed. “You’re a fast one” Dallas compliments before putting his hand down on his left hip. As if pulling out a sword, Dallas starts moving his arm forward in a linear motion. “Ah, I see now” Jay says mysteriously as he picks up a rock from off the ground. Jay reaches back and launches the rock forward, creating a ripple in sound waves as it travels towards Dallas. Just before hitting Dallas, the rock split into two pieces, seemingly out of thin air, revealing the invisible sword that he was holding all along. Dallas suddenly rushes forward, finally starting to attack Jay back. Jay quickly puts his hands together and moves them down. “Energy shield!” He yells as a green bubble forms around him. Dallas goes for the hit, however it’s repelled by the shield and is therefore shattered into a bunch of tiny little pieces.
“Things just got interesting,” Dallas says. As Dallas puts his hands back to his side, he clenches his fists. Rubble and debris flying all around him, he closes his eyes in concentration. Jay, seeing this opportunity to attack cancels the energy shield and jumps high up into the air, pulling back on the string of an invisible bow and arrow. Before Jay even has enough time to react, the ground around Dallas crumbles to a fine powder. Flames suddenly engulf Jay, Dallas, getting the first hit of the fight. “Ouch, dang it” Jay says, looking down at Dallas as the smoke starts to clear.
“Where did he go” Jay mumbles to himself.
“I’m right here” A voice says, coming from behind Jay.
“Energy shiel-” Jay attempts to say. Looking behind him, Dallas fists are engulfed in flames. He manages to punch Jay before he even has time to put up the shield. Jay goes flying down in flames, smashing into the ground, which ends up making a big crater where he landed. From within the smoke, a large pillar of ice suddenly launches up from the ground, hitting Dallas right in the gut. Dallas, now bleeding a little, flies down to the ground, using the wind from his fire to move the dust out of the way. As he does, sharp shards of ice fly towards him, breaking the sound barrier in the process. Dallas grins, “Really Jay, ice is the best you could come up with?” Dallas asks mockingly. Using his fire, he incinerates the ice shards with ease. With the fire now blocking Dallas’s view, Jay launches another ice pillar at Dallas, once again making contact. “I gotta stop getting hit” Dallas says. As the mixture of smoke and dust disperses, Jay and Dallas are once again standing face to face.
“Your strong, however my ice will beat your fire,” Jay says confidently.
“I wouldn’t be too confident just yet, because I haven’t lost yet” Dallas responds. Standing there for a few seconds, they both let out a sly smirk and lunge towards each other. Each punch and each block is followed up with a large, powerful, booming sound. A battle between two powerful kids. Each time contact is made, it breaks the sound barrier. Each punch makes another small crater in the ground. Jay finally lands another punch on Dallas, encasing him in a crystal of ice, unable to move. “You seem awfully cocky for someone who is about to lose,” Jay says.
“I’m not cocky, I’m confident” Dallas says, the ice beginning to melt around him. Smoke starts to engulf the battlefield as the mixture of fire and water rises into the air. Jay goes to punch Dallas, however he manages to melt through the ice and block the attack with his arms. The ice around Dallas shatters as he flies far away from Jay. As Dallas begins to chant a spell, the heat in the atmosphere begins to rise, almost to a boiling temperature. “I can’t breathe,” Jay says, holding his throat.
“Are you sure you want to lose your life from this, JUST ACCEPT DEFEAT ALREADY!” Dallas says. Just as quick as it started, Jay was able to breathe again. The atmosphere closer to him started to cool down as the atmosphere by Dallas kept rising. It was a battle between fire and ice, good and bad, red Vs blue. The wind started to pick up once more, except this time there were two different gusts. A tornado of fire, and a tornado of ice. The deciding factor on who would win was not about strength alone, but by the strength to continue, the strength to persevere. Jay was the first to send the tornado of ice towards Dallas, in which Dallas followed suit not long after. As the two tornadoes crashed, just like the boys, it was a battle to see which one was stronger. The two combined into a horrific storm. cold fire, hot ice, lightning that was way more destructive then normal, it was a mixture of the strange abilities that they had, their perfect battlefield. Dallas rushed forward, his speed faster than before, his fire hotter than ever. He wanted to end this fight once and for all. Jay was the same. He lowered his body temperature to below freezing.
With each clash, each hit, the storm grew even stronger. The longer this went on the more the storm grew out of control. Out of nowhere, a killer clown showed up to help fight Dallas. “Ok, you wanna play that game,” Dallas says, slightly annoyed. Suddenly, Dallas had a huge fire breathing dragon to help. Now it was even. With Jay distracted by how unfair it was that Dallas had a dragon, he took his one in a million opportunity to get a hit. Dallas rushed forward, faster than anything ever has. He manages to grab him by his shoulders and slam him into a mountain. Blood splattered out of Jay’s mouth with the sudden impact. However there is one thing that Dallas forgot about, the clown. The clown, who can apparently phase through walls came from out of the mountain and kicked Dallas right in the ribs.
It hurt, they both were in pain, but this fight could only have one winner. “And it’s gonna be me!” Jay and Dallas say at the same time. With persistence, they keep fighting, their movements somehow even faster than they were a few seconds ago. With their wounds, already somehow healed, their fight on. “And then I summon another monster!” Jay says.
“No, we can each only have one monster, that would make it fair” Dallas responds.
“Can you boys stop playing with your food and keep eating! Your mashed potatoes are going to get cold!” Their mom yells. They both quickly shovel their food into their mouths, happy and excited to play the scenario that they just made.
“See, doesn’t fighting each other this time sound like a good idea? Jay asks, eager for a response.
“Ah, I guess your right, that would be a great addition.” Dallas responds, satisfying Jay with that simple answer.
