Adventure Creative Nonfiction Mystery

My story is entitled Joshua Jackson the cartographer was trying to read the map to our various countries and destination.

Once upon a time whilst traveling in a ship with Joshua Jackson on the sea ,we lost our way so he being the cartographer tried to read the map to our various destinations and other countries.

Joshua Jackson and his crew in the ship did not stop to ask for directions they pulled out their trusty maps.

Again Joshua Jackson the cartographer knew how to read a map it was a practical skill that was inhibited within him.

The key markers of map reading are scale , longitude, and latitude and topographical lines that means you will be able to travel anywhere with a few calculations.

During map reading , Joshua Jackson chose the right type of map.

In addition Joshua Jackson often used road maps that helped him navigate other highways, topographical maps , telling campers and how to reach campsites and other lodging areas and even tourist maps highlighting landmarks for sightseeing.

Maps can be found anywhere in gas stations ,visitor centers, restaurants and some popular attractions.

Also Joshua Jackson checked the maps orientation .

He then opened up the map and took a moment to double check that he was examining it from the correct perspective.

Again Joshua Jackson map features a compass rose in one corner that shows which directions are indicated by the various markers.

The top of the map then corresponded with North.

Joshua Jackson emphasized that the north is considered a neutral orientation which provides a reference for other directions.

Also Joshua Jackson by the help of the map helped Travelers to get their bearings. The major keys of the map are the parks, camp ground ,gas stations, rail road and other roads.

Again Joshua Jackson referred to the legend that was the map key to make sense of the map. Joshua Jackson then realized that maps contain a legend or chart that explains the scientific methods used to draw up the map and lists what important symbols mean to them.

Joshua Jackson the cartographer by the help of the legend helped the map to display information .

On the map Joshua Jackson the cartographer familiarized himself with the legend which is the key to comprehending the way the map displays information.

On the maps he found symbols representing roadways ,town , city and other prominent landmarks as well as colour coded environmental features like mountain forests and other bodies of water.

The elements of the map are designed to also educate travelers on how to interpret and safely traverse their surroundings.

Also a note of the longitude and the latitude was taken by Joshua Jackson .

Again Joshua Jackson emphasized that the Meridian of longitude is a geographic coordinate that specifies the East-West position of a point on the Earth's surface that is relative to the Prime meridian.

The meridians of longitude that is the long lines runs vertically from the North pole to the South Pole.

Also when reading the map Joshua Jackson realized that the parallel of latitude runs parallel to the equator the waist line of the globe horizontally and shows the distance of the North or South of the equator.

On Joshua Jacksons map the numbers on the sides and top or bottom of the map seeks to track the degrees of longitudes and also the latitude.

In addition the equator and the Prime meridian were chosen as handy reference points because they are looked roughly in the center of the globe.

Again Joshua Jackson when reading the map paid attention to the scale of the map. A maps scale seeks to provide a ratio of map distance to the actual distance .

The scale of Joshua Jackson map is presented as a number ratio 1:100,000.

The ratio of the map simply means that 1 unit of distance on the map is equal to 100,000 units.

Also Joshua Jackson became conversant with where the ship was before reading the map. Joshua Jackson then observed the area and landmarks around the sea and later cross referenced them on the map.

Since Joshua Jackson was stranded he tried to match up what he saw in real life with what he actually saw on the map.

Joshua Jackson then marked his position so that he can get himself pointed in the right direction.

Also the common features that can help you identify your location includes outstanding features like rivers and mountains.

In addition Joshua Jackson then observed two landmarks within seeing distance ,a Water tower and a small town then he drew a straight line between them, the point at which they actually intersect was the rough location.

Again he made sure the map was aligned correctly to his compass. Joshua Jackson then implemented the method of declination that was much easier to get a sense of where they were going . Also the compass helped Joshua Jackson to get to his location.

After Joshua Jackson was able to pinpoint his destination by circling his destination on his map.

Joshua Jackson then looked at how much distance lies between his start and end point.

Again Joshua Jackson zoomed in and then identified which avenues will allow you to arrive within your destination.

Also calculating the distance to scale will help you to track your movements.

The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. It is again the best to stick to a direct route with a minimal number of branches or detours.

Later Joshua Jackson by the aid of the map followed the selected route to his destination thereby helping the other crew and passengers in the ship.

Again Joshua Jackson was able to focus on the journey itself until they reached their destination by the help of map reading in understanding the skills of map symbols ,contour lines, grid reference, compass and compass bearing. Joshua Jackson then figured out a direct route in advance.

Whilst traveling and using the map , Joshua Jackson and other crew on the ship stopped to do some sightseeing.

In the ship whilst traveling ,navigating duties was given to only one person who was Joshua Jackson in order for him to interpret the map.

Finally, Joshua Jackson created check points to keep him from losing his way entirely to his destination.

As the ship moved along the navigators progress was tracked with a pencil as to whether he was directing them to the right location or destination. When ever they came to a landmark , Joshua Jackson the navigator drew a dot star or other symbol whenever they came to a notable landmark.

He then referred to the last point of his check point at his destination.

In conclusion, when Joshua Jackson and his crew with the other passengers got to their destination they recorded how far they have got and how far a distance they have got to return back.
