The eerie blue figure locked eyes on me waiting for what the dice were about to do. I just needed them to roll like they always did for me, which shouldn't have been a problem. They never rolled any other way, but it didn't stop me from being anxious about the whole ordeal. I mean, if I didn't roll the right number, then the world was doomed. I shook the cold metal dice in my hands for a few seconds before throwing them across the table. Time seemed to slow down while my heart was beating through my chest. The world is about to get invaded by aliens if these dice don't land with the right side up. Why does this always happen to guys like me? I used to think my superpower was useless but I guess I've found a way to save the world with it.
Today wasn't supposed to go like this. It was supposed to be a totally normal and relaxing vacation day in Las Vegas. I've been saving for this trip for a year because my therapist told me I needed to take some me-time. I woke up in my hotel and headed downstairs for breakfast. It was nice to have pancakes for the first time in a while. The butter melted from the warm syrup and it tasted like I was a kid again. I've never tested my luck with a casino before, but honestly, I'm really excited to. Ever since I was a kid, every time I rolled a die, it landed on 6. My parents told me it was a superpower, but what a lame superpower. Why couldn't I have gotten super strength or x-ray vision or something like that?
I guess I'm making the best of it by placing bets on the fact that I can't lose. Those stupid comic book heroes could never have this much fun in a casino. I spent hours rolling dice and betting people it would land on 6 like it always does. People would get mad and have me switch dice, but I would roll 6's on those too.
Suddenly the music stopped and the lights all turned off. Luckily, the sun was still out so there was sunlight coming through the large windows covering the walls. Several people started yelling as they had just lost their progress on the gambling machines. The power wasn't even out for a minute before a strange blue light was shining through the window. The crowd started shuffling outside and I followed them. I don't know what I was expecting to see, but I definitely wasn't expecting an alien spaceship. "Humans, it is time for you to meet your new rulers." I pinched myself. There was no way that this was happening. The ship started to land right in front of the big crowd that I was in. After a few seconds, a tall and lanky being stepped out. It was wearing grey robes but no shoes. A guy started running up to it to try to fight it, and the ship immediately shot him down with some sort of laser gun. After that, there was panic in the streets. I couldn't make myself move, I had no idea what was going on. I also had no idea if I was even awake or dreaming. This alien was pale blue with several wrinkles on its face. It walked on two legs and had two arms as humans did. I wonder where these beings came from.
"You, right there. Come here human. Let's play a game. Whoever wins gets to keep Earth." The alien pointed to a bartender from the casino I was just in. I was just showing him my dice trick and he gave me my drink for free because I rolled 6's twice in a row. He looked at me and pointed while saying, "No, that's the guy you want. He's way better at games than I am." I just stared at him in shock. What is going on?
"What the hell dude?" People will do anything to save themselves nowadays. Before I could walk over to the guy, two more aliens walked off the ship and grabbed me. They started bringing me back towards the arching entryway of the ship. I didn't even feel like resisting after a few seconds, there was no way I was going to overpower these sentient beings. I have to find a way to make the game something that I can win. Hopefully, it involves dice, but I'm not betting on it.
I was brought through long dark hallways that were lit with blue light. It was getting harder to see, the farther I was brought from windows that had bright sunlight shining through them. "What kind of game am I going to be playing?"
"Whatever game our queen has decided." The alien didn't even look at me while he spoke. Humans were like rodents to these aliens. After a few more twists and turns in the ship, I was finally taken to a room with an empty throne in it.
"I demand to choose the game," I said to the aliens holding me. "You're on Earth so you should play Earth games." One of them just kicked me and said "Silence human, the queen is coming." Their queen looked just like them but instead of robes, she wore a stunning red dress and a golden crown that was covered in jewels.
"No, no the human is right. We should at least give you pitiful humans a chance to earn your planet back." She seated herself at the throne and stared into my eyes.
"Okay let's play 6," I say. Okay, maybe there's a chance I can actually save the world. I just have to make a game out of me rolling 6's on dice. There's no way I could lose.
"How do I play, human?" The queen sounded eager to play against a human. She seemed confident that she would have no problem winning.
"We each have 10 seconds to roll a pair of dice as many times as we can. Each time you get a 6, you get a point. The person with the most points wins." That sounds believable enough. Hopefully, I can make it seem like I just got lucky and not like I'm doing this on purpose.
It only took a few minutes to get a table set up with a pair of dice. It was decided that the queen would go first. The assistant told her to go and she began to roll the dice. After the ten seconds were up, she managed to roll seven 6's. When it got to my turn, I was shaking. I knew that I could do this. This was my destiny if only my kid self could see me now. The assistant looked at me and told me to go. I started rolling the dice as fast as I could. I got the first six 6's with no problem, but the time was running out so I got nervous and accidentally chucked the dice to the other side of the table. If these dice weren't 6's, then earth belonged to these aliens. Luckily, I always roll 6's.

Wonderfully creative and original. It would be nice to have a bit more description of the aliens, but I loved the oddity of this story!

I liked the quickness of the story, and the ending was a suitable climax. Have to say, that is a cool superpower.
