"Boo" or "Be Booed!"

Written in response to: "Write a story about a misunderstood monster."

Fantasy Fiction Funny

I don't know rather to "Boo.... or get Booed!" There was a party going on up on cliff near the beach. Everyone who was anyone was invited. I sat upstairs in the attic watching the guest come to front entrance. No one knew that I was watching, or did they know that I even existed. I wasn't sure if I want to be seen or enjoy watching the unexpected expression of the guest.

I continued to stand in front of the window with a cup a punch and appetizers. I watched as a lady pointed at the attic window. She pulled the man by the coat and said, "Look!" But by the time he looked, I had already closed the curtains. I heard the man say, "What is it, dear?" "There is nothing there but your imagination!" "Come let's go inside, I'm starving!" I gasp for minute and thought so was I since I dropped my juice and appetizers on the floor. By the time I started to reach for it, a mouse had already taken it along with the plate.

I paced the floor back and forth trying to figure out a way to get downstairs. You'd think, that by me being a monster, I have the opportunity to be good or bad. I figured that if I was a good monster than no one would see me as scary. Although this could take away from my character, given the fact that I am supposed to scare the hell out of people. Being a bad monster allows me to empty the house so that I could eat and drink all the leftovers. I wasn't quite sure which one that I wanted to be. I knew that downstairs was more entertaining than the attic.

Some people see monsters as evil spirits and others choose to not believe. I saw myself as potential. This meant that I had the potential to make moves in the background for fun or fear. Which monster was I going to be? I continued to pace the floor, while everyone was enjoying themselves downstairs. I finally stopped analyzing and went downstairs through the ceiling. After all I am a monster, and I can do things that others can't see.

As I got downstairs, I found myself sitting beside the piano player. He didn't even know that I was there sitting beside him in. I tried to blend in with the party, so I borrowed a necklace off one guest and some earrings off the other. I took a red bow off another guest and stuck it in my hair. There I was sitting beside the piano player singing and drinking from his glass. Every time he got ready to reach for his drink, I had already chunked it down. He didn't know what was going on. I heard him tell the waitress, "Hey, bring me a Jack!"

She brought him back a shot of whiskey and looked to the right in which I was sitting and dropped the whole tray. I heard her scream as she backed away. The pianist screamed back, thinking that she was joining in on the song. I looked at him and laugh as we both continued to scream and sing. I looked at the waitress and said, "Boo!" The panic of horror on her face and in her eyes as she stuttered out the room. I guess the image of the red bow and jewelry floating in the air was not her cup of tea.

A few minutes later she came back with her boss and by that I time I was gone from the piano player. I made my way to the kitchen where I figure that I mightiest as well help the servers prepare the food. They all looked busy as they pass the utensils and ingredients around. I decided to join in on passing things around. I figure that I would create my own recipe and serve it to the guest. So, while they were passing the ingredients around, I took a bowl and started mixing.

Moments after someone placed a baking pan on the counter. I took my mix and started pouring it on the pan. With everyone being so busy, no one notice the bowl and spoon in the air. After I finished pouring the ingredients in the pan, I turned around and open the oven. And this is when things began to get real! I closed the oven and turn back to the servers only to see that everyone in the kitchen had cleared out.

I didn't see anyone, but I could hear people yelling and screaming. I heard one say, " If there's any monsters here, I want a refund!" One man said, "Is she pretty!" Another person said, "Honey, start the car, we are done for the night!" I came out the kitchen to see if I could calm everyone down. After all, I was having a great time and wanted to explain my presents. Or so I thought that I would have the chance to clear the air.

As I went into the room, everyone started running out the front door. I turned to the hostess and held on to his arm as he ran scared out the room. "I said, "Hey wait, it's not what you think!" He yelled, "Go away!" An old lady had fallen with her quad, so I decided to go over and help her. But before I could even help her up, she had jumped up leaving her quad and dentures behind. Nothing was making sense of this scenario. I wanted to the join the party not erase it.

I stood at the front door with my red bow, earrings and necklace. Where on earth did, I go wrong? This was supposed to have been a night of fun, but somehow things got misunderstood. I felt kind of bad because I was really enjoying the piano player. He too, had left in a hurry. I looked around at all the goodies that was left untouched and turned back to the door and said, "Yall come back now, you hear!"
