"Finally"

sighed the sixteen-year-old, named Ashlyn, as her finger hovered above the button. Publish. This is it. The moment you've been waiting for. She felt excitement and anxiety bubble in the pit of her stomach. She took a deep breath and pressed on the button. She heard a slight ping, and she knew that her book had been published. Ashlyn smiled wistfully as she imagined how many people would like her first book, that she had worked on for nine months. While she was brushing her teeth she noticed an odd and shadow hovering near her window. The second she finished brushing her teeth, she went outside to see who was there. When she saw that no one was there she sighed and thought: calm down Ashlyn. You're just stressed because of your book. As she lay in bed, she kept thinking about the odd shadow near her window. Hmm... maybe in the next book of 'The Chronicles of the dead' one of the characters could be a shadow... that was her last thought before she fell asleep. Little did she know that the shadow was still there and that from then on her life is about to get a whole lot messier.

...

Ashlyn woke up in a rather hard bed, and a weird-smelling room. Her eyes flew open, and what she saw terrified her. She was laying in a completely different bed than her own, in a completely different room. Strangely, the room looked familiar, as if she'd been there before. Suddenly she felt cold sweat crawl down her back as she thought, wait... different bed, different room... was I KIDNAPPED?! She raised her hand up to her face so that she could rub her eyes, and she had a heart attack. Her skin was WHITE! Last time she checked, she had brown skin. Wait... if my skin color changed, how do I know that nothing else changed? she grabbed her hair and looked at it. her heart started beating fast as if just wanted to jump out her chest and run away. her hair was BLONDE! She took a deep breath to calm her nerves as she tried to think logically.  If I was kidnapped as a test subject, wouldn't I be in a dark cell or a basement? Although the room is unfamiliar, it is still not a dark cell. So I was probably not kidnapped...

That still doesn't explain how your whole appearance changed. A tiny voice in her mind said. She took a deep breath to calm her nerves and relax, just as a teenage boy who looked like he was around the age of seventeen, burst into the room saying

"Rise and shine sleepy head” he paused, then, in a singsong voice he added

"Its time for school!" Ashlyn groaned as she thought if I was weirdly altered or whatever, couldn't I at least skip school?

Ashlyn heaved herself out of bed, and the teenage boy said

"There you go, Terra! Hurry up or we'll be late!"

"Wait... Who is Terra?!" the boy looked at her oddly, he shook his head as he pointed out

"Terra, this joke is so not funny." Ashlyn looked at him blankly as she said

"I'm not joking. I am Ashlyn. Who is Terra?" the boy let out an exasperated sigh as he said

"Ok fine. I will humor you. You are Terra, my little sister. I am Asher. our parents are Mrs. McNamara and Mr. McNamara. we go to Willow high. Your best friends are Ella and Mia. Shall I go on?" Ashlyn's heart started beating frantically as she said

"Haha, got you" she smiled weakly as she finally realized where she was. She was inside her first book, 'The Chronicles of the dead'! Asher looked at her pitifully as he said

"you're really not funny" he turned around and started walking towards the exit. when he reached the exit, he turned around and said

"By the way, mom told me to tell you not to forget your sandwich again" he left the room and closed the door behind him. the moment he left, Ashlyn sat back down on the bed, as she thought

if I'm in my book, so I know what happens next. Therefore, I think I need to pretend to be Terra, so that I can leave this place. Ashlyn stood up and checked Terra's closet for suitable clothes.

"Shit. I forgot Terra's school has a uniform" Ashlyn grumbled, and took the uniform out of the drawer. As she got dressed, she heard her "mother" Mrs. McNamara yell

"Terra darling, please come down and have your breakfast" Ashlyn took a deep breath as she thought c'mon girl. You got this. All you have to do is to act like Terra, YOUR sixteen-year-old FICTIONAL character. She took a deep breath and said lightly

"You got this"

"I'm coming mother"

...

The moment Ashlyn finished getting ready, she went down the stairs and entered the kitchen. On the kitchen table, she saw a bowl of porridge and an avocado sandwich. She sat down and started eating the porridge. Once she finished eating, she took the sandwich and put it in her backpack. When she was about to leave with Asher and go to school, she heard their mother say

"Terra, don't forget to call"

"But mom, I'm sixteen!"

"But sweetie, your school is so far away, and I don't want anything to happen to you"

"Ugh, fine." Ashlyn sighed, as she wondered why did she make Terra's mother worry so much.

...

As she was walking with Asher on their way to school, Asher asked

"So how does it fill to still be treated like the baby of the family?" Ashlyn felt her cheeks flush as she shoved him with her elbow

"Oh, shut up." her "brother" laughed, and Ashlyn felt another set of emotions, other than her own, as if there was someone else in her body. Suddenly, she was sure that there was another person in her body. She felt as if she had an instant connection with the other person in her body. For some reason, she was sure that the other person was Terra. She wasn't sure how, or when, but she knew for certain that she and Terra were sharing the same body.

...

When she got to school her supposedly "best friends" rushed over and hugged her.

"OMG! Terra I missed you!" said one of her "friends" who she assumed was Mia.

"We missed you! We barely saw you last summer!" said the other one, who was probably Ella.

Hug them back! said a voice in the back of her mind. say something like I missed you two or something it continued. Ashlyn hugged them back and said

"Haha, I missed you too!" she put on a fake smile, and hoped that no one noticed.

...

During the lunch period, Asher came over with something in his hand and said

"Guys look! right that this book is so cool?" he showed them the book, and Ashlyn freaked out. She recognized the book. It was the book of The fallen empire! that was the book that started Terra's whole adventure! Asher passed Ella the book, and she noticed something sticking out the back of the cover. She passed the thing to Asher, and turns out it was just a strange piece of paper, and Ashlyn was sure that it was a papyrus. Asher flipped the papyrus and noticed writing on the back of it.

"Cha fra, ridulisium patentibus"
"Cha fra, ridulisium patentibus"
"Cha fra, ridulisium aperire portal, ut mea regna"

"Cha fra, ridulisium patentibus-" Asher started reading the writing

"Stop! don't read that!" Ashlyn yelled

"And why not?" Asher asked

"cause..." Ashlyn new that she couldn't tell them the truth, because they wouldn't believe her. Ella and Mia looked at her with concerned expressions

"Are you ok?" Mia asked

"I'm fine," Ashlyn said.

"Cha fra, ridulisium patentibus.

Cha fra, ridulisium patentibus.

Cha fra, ridulisium aperire portas ut mea regna" Asher read. for a moment nothing happened, then suddenly Ashlyn felt as if she was being sucked into thin air. The wind was howling, and suddenly it started raining. It was as if they were stuck in the middle of a fierce storm.

"ASHER, WHAT DID YOU DO!?" Ashlyn screamed.

They started falling down, towards their next destination, in their next realm...
