“So, wait, why are you holding a wedding in a graveyard of all places?” Asked the young lad. His sister, the bride, was about to be married to a rich fellow that day.

“Well you see, he wanted to go for that spooky theme. He’s a really unique man isn’t he?” Rina giggled.

“You’re a weirdo.” He squinted his eyes at her in disgust. “Might as well just go burn another bridge.”

“But what about the wedding?” She whined.

The lad didn’t pay any attention to her anymore and just left. Not like he’d really do anything at the wedding since it was usually a booze fest. Walking out of the confetti lined graveyard, he met up with a fellow “friend”.

Luke looked up to see Belial the dragon flying in. As he landed, he ended up crushing a villager’s house.

“. . .”

“Hello.” His voice was like a cello on its lowest note.

Luke facepalmed.

“Look what you’ve done! You’ve just crushed an innocent person’s house!” Luke exclaimed.

“It’s fine they can just rebuild it. Or the author can write it back in.” Belial simply said.

“Oh. I guess you’re right. Yeah the author can write it back in.” Luke agreed.

Suddenly the house was rebuilt and everything was fine because that’s how it works. Luke gave a sigh of relief, seeing the house now not crushed by his giant dragon friend.

“Now, what was that letter about going on a hero’s journey or something like that?” He questioned.

Belial thought for a moment before responding with, “..I sorta wanted to invite you to defeat my evil cousin twice removed.” He deadpanned.

There was a long pause between the two.

“You’re actually serious about this?”

“Yeah. He’s been stealing a lot of my food recently and also he’s really mean. I’ve gotta keep up my diet of eating fairies and other creatures you know?”

Luke took a deep breath in, trying to process everything before agreeing to join his dragon friend on an amazing journey through the land.

They would go off to the far off lands of Yugen and Erstea.

“Wait wait. How the hell do you think we’d travel that far? Yugen is literally on the other side of the world! Plus we don’t even need to go that far to get to his cousin.” Luke huffed.

“You can ride on me you know.” Belial said quietly.

“I’m not going to ride you, Belial. You’re too..Big. Plus I’d probably get thrown off and die at some point. Thanks for the offer though.”

Belial pouted and retracted his wings.

Luke took a moment to think before opening his mouth to ask, “Hold up. How about we just uh..Burn down your cousin’s home? That would work right?”

“Burning bridges are not the same as trying to burn down the great nest of a dragon.” Belial murmured.

The young lad thought once more.

“Then maybe we could just walk in there and be like ‘Please stop being mean’ and then walk out of there completely unscathed because of plot armor! Friendship always seems to work, right?”

“I mean, you’re right but would that really work?”

“I think so.”

And so, they were finally off to the evil lair of Belial’s unnamed cousin twice removed. They walked together off into the sunset and once night had settled in, they had arrived at the evil lair of this unnamed cousin.

“So this is the place?” Luke asked, raising an eyebrow at his friend.

“Yes. It is.” He replied rather simply.

They both stared at the rugged and broken down castle-like structure before them.

“Doesn’t seem like much of a lair.” The lad muttered.

A high-pitched voice came from inside.

“WHO GOES THERE?”

Belial quickly froze up, sitting there. Luke looked at him in concern but was trying to hold in laughter. Was this voice really that cousin of his?

“I-I swear this is the work of the author. They didn’t sound like this before.” Belial sputtered.

The dragon cousin soon came out and looked as if he had shrunk.

“I’LL CRUSH YOU BELIAL! I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO NEVER COME BACK HERE!” The small thing squeaked.

There was a long pause between the two friends before they both burst into laughter. The small dragon growled pecking at Luke’s feet.

“I’LL GET YOU BOTH FOR THIS! I SWEAR TO THE GODS!” Belial’s cousin shrieked.

“We should probably just throw this guy.” Luke gave another chuckled before grabbing the small dragon by its tail and throwing him off into the distance. They could hear him screaming his head off somewhere.

“Alright, so we were supposed to learn some sort of lesson on this journey right?” Luke said, putting his hands on his hips as if to celebrate a job well done.

“I guess.” Belial shrugged with his wings and took a moment to lay down.

“So it’s over. Cool.” He mumbled.

The both of them looked up at the night sky, the two of them thinking to themselves how pointless all of this had been. They had done nothing that day and they felt satisfied.

“Damn. I guess we really did do absolutely nothing today huh Belial?”

“Indeed..Should we make this castle ours?”

“That’ll work. I mean, don’t heroes always get luxurious places in the end?”

They both smiled at each other, Belial trying his best by not showing off all of his sharp teeth.

“What do you feel like doing tomorrow, Belial?” Luke spoke softly.

“Eating. A lot.” Belial replied.
