Flashing lights flew past my eyes, loud squealing metal monitors surrounding my massive bed and small body. Curious whispers from one person to another flowed across to what seemed like a hospital room. "Where am I?", I question a Doctor. "You're in a hospital sir", she replies. "I don't ever recall getting myself into any setback, you must be mistaken. Now, I'll ask you again, where am I?", I clarify and ask. "Nevin Steven Dougball, perhaps you misheard me. I am Doctor Lee, you have woken up from a coma that you have been in for 30 years. You are 47 years old and have been unresponsive for each and every minute, showing no communication other than your heart rate. I have been watching you ever since they rolled you in. I have been recording your behaviour, mind, food intake, everything", Doctor Lee explains this without stumbling over a word. "Where are my parents? My brother Ricky, hes my best friend? My Mom? What about my dad who had been there for every-one of my football games?". Each and every persons jaw dropped. Doctor Lee explained how rare it had been for someone to have such vivid memory after being unconscious for an exceeding period of time. I remembered specific individual memories from unsystematic occasions from my life. She explains how uncommon it is for scenarios like this to happen, "most people in this situation wouldn't have the capability to even remember their name". Someone begins to talk, "Oh Nev, it's so great to hear your voice again.", a high pitch voice from my mom muttered, emotion choking her throat. She barely changed, a bit of grey hair and wrinkles had done to the most to her. "What about Rick-" an intimidating deep voice lashed out before I could finish, "Nevster, how was your beauty sleep? Doing well lad?" the room filled with laughter to lighten the mood. Ricky had changed completely, but his childish humour stuck with him. Now, a tall man, with a beard and body built torso and limbs replaced his 13 year old petite body. It only felt like yesterday where I was on the field with my friends and my family watching my game from the rusty metal bleachers, back at Nordon Creek High School. Both Ricky and Mom headed in for a group hug, "Wheres Dad?" I asked excited and eagerly. The room went quiet, "Down the hall? Get him over here." I said overworking a happy mood. "Oh Nevin sweetie," Mom said, "I'm so sorry". Me still confused, "Where is he?', still no answer. "Ricky where is he!", Doctor Lee interrupted before anyone else said anything, "He passed away with nothing but a clock in his hand. No sign of a stroke, seizure, heart attack, just a shut off heart and body." "I'm sorry", as Mom and Ricky followed up with a tight hug. "Leave!" I shout, "Nevin I-", I angrily interrupt Doctor Lee before she can finish, "Leave!". Doctors and family follow each other out rooms #117's door. Memories of Dad and I throwing the football back and forth or long walks on the beach back at the cottage paced and repeated in my mind. We would go the cottage every year for hometown football playoffs. Dad was my top supporter, helping me improve day in and day out. At that time we were searching for universities for me to attend as my grades were exceedingly high. The image of the clock quickly crossed my mind. Somehow I knew exactly what clock it was, it was my grandfathers clock he used when he was in the military, a poor paint job, with a half broken glass cover. Another memory follows the up with the clock, it wasn't my memory though, I had been sleeping. Dad was changing the time of the clocks for daylight savings, he must of messed with the clock changing it to the incorrect time, causing time travel and leading him to death. My brilliant plan only became better. If we go home and have all three of us in the positions and time, we can reset and travel back in time before everything happened. I explained my plan to Mom and Ricky, they thought I was relentless, saying I'm probably just going crazy from my coma. Once I got released from the hospital a couple weeks later, Mom refused to let me try my idea until one night she gave in. She called Ricky and told him to sleep in his old bedroom, right beside mine. Thats where most of our memories came from, fighting everyday. I knew the exact location of the clock from my extraordinary memory I had caught on from my coma. At 8:29 pm both Ricky and Mom were in their beds occupying themselves with technology, thats when I switched the time on the clock. Everything felt the same but I felt different. My arms were hairier, I felt I had a stocky body shape, and I was a couple inches taller. I hadn't realized I had been this fit and tall from high school football. All the shelves, lights, pictures, carpets, furniture had remained exactly as before. I run into Mom and Dad's room and shout "Mom I reset the clocks! Wheres dad?", she gave me a confused look and said " Wheres dad? Mom? Daniel, what are you saying?", then I realized I hadn't felt different for no specific reason. I sprinted to the washroom to see the reflection as my dad Daniel, I teleported time in the position as my dad, not myself! I felt hopeless, all I wanted was to see my dad once more. "Dan honey, are you alright?", Moms voice calling from the bedroom, "I'm ok, nothings wrong.". My plan to travel forward, ahead of time was too big of a performance to execute properly, I wasn't capable of what my mind was before. Some memories I began to forget about, and new memories flooded my brain. Unknown memories, to what seemed not only my body had changed, but my memories, mindset, and interests were moving alongside. I was beginning to forget about all high school football, childhood memories, being in the hospital a couple weeks ago, wondering why I wanted to switch the time on the clock, moving to question myself asking, "Why was in the bathroom? Did I need something?".
