Gail rose out of the ocean, her new human legs flopping weirdly as she walked onto the sandy beach. Her guardian, a falcon, circled overhead. "Umaris! Can you help me?" Gail reached up. The falcon swooped over her head, barely missing her hair. "It's not funny Umaris! I'm counting on you to help me find her!" Umaris landed on her shoulder, and she ruffled her feathers.

Nightstar quietly sat, as Autumn ran on about something. "I can't believe he would just DUMP me!" She said, clenching her fists. "And then he all a sudden has an interest in Lacy, like come on!" Autumn looked over at Nightstar. He raised an eyebrow. "Hey, don't give me that look," Autumn said as she plopped onto her beanbag. She slumped miserably. A howl indicated that Tengo and Mariana were up to something. Nightstar licked her hand softly. "Thanks, bud," Autumn sighed.

The wind flowed in Gail's hair. She was on her way to meet her long-lost sister. What fun they would have! Gail hoped her sister's guardian was a falcon too. "Hey, little girl! We're almost there! Are you sure you don't want to go to the hospital?" A man asked. "Ušïa!" Gail yelled back, then she covered her mouth with her hand. "I mean, no!" "Hēï o I yęm," (I'm screwing up even my language.) Gail muttered. Gail had told them she was stranded on an island, yet the truth was, she lived in the ocean palace, (the sky palace had too many memories, both good and bad) and had decided it was long past time that her aunt wasn't queen anymore, and someone from Gail's bloodline could be queen. Gail looked up to see Umaris flying above. The sailors pointed and gasped, for such a bird could not exist. "Umaris!" Gail called. The bird shrieked and landed on Gail's outstretched arm. Gail looked into her falcon's eyes. Umaris had a vision.

Nightstar kept repeatedly having this dream-about a girl. She had a falcon as her guardian, and she was small. Every time he saw her, she was happy, but her face soon flickered to anger. That girl was coming soon. And Nightstar had to prevent that for as long as possible.

Gail remembered the night she summoned Umaris. Years ago, (Before moved into the sea palace) Gail had locked herself in her room. She had been angry. As Gail cried softly, she didn't hear the creak of the floorboards. She didn't hear the scrape of a sword being unsheathed. She didn't hear the lock unlocking. But what she did hear, was a shriek. A falcon burst into the room, tackling the figure. Gail had turned around and saw the falcon, risking his life for hers. That was the first time she had laid eyes on Umaris. Ever since then, Umaris never left her side.

As Gail looked into Umaris's eyes, Gail saw a wolf, and a girl, quietly reading on a beanbag in her room. Sōâmü! (Sister) Gail sighed.

Nightstar whined and placed a paw on Autumn's emergency run-away bag. She had started it ever since Nightstar saved her. "You want us to go somewhere?" Autumn asked. Nightstar nodded. Autumn sighed. "I don't understand you sometimes, but I do trust you," She said as she slung the bag over her shoulder. Autumn opened the slightly ajar window higher. She let down her emergency rope. Even though they were on the second floor, Nightstar could leap down safely. Autumn slid down the rope. "Okay, where are we going now boy?" She asked, stroking Nightstar. Nightstar bounded away towards the street, Autumn at his side.

Gail stopped in front of a light blue house. Missing papers were posted all over the place, on windows, chairs, the rails. Gail knocked lightly on the door. The door opened, and a woman appeared. She wore eyeliner that got smeared because of her tears. They dripped softly down to her stained purple shirt. “Hello?” She asked. “Hi. I’m looking for this girl right here. I think she lived here.” Gail said. The woman looked suspiciously at Gail’s falcon, clinging to her shoulder. “Come in,” She said.

“So that’s what happened? They disappeared one night?” Gail asked. Sasha nodded. “Her and Nightstar haven’t been found yet. That’s what scares me. Maybe-her stories are true.” “Tatui!” Gail cursed. “What?” Sasha asked. “Nothing! But-what stories?” “Oh. She told me some weird thing almost killed her when she came back from trick or treating. She was scratched up and bleeding. She also said that weird wolf dog hybrid saved her. If that thing hadn’t growled at me when I said to throw him out, then he would be out of the house. I’ve given up trying to plot how to get rid of him. I think they ran away because of me,” Sasha asked miserably. “Mariana and Tengo have been going out at night lately-and (sigh) being a single mother is hard,” She buried her head in her hands. Gail rubbed under Umaris’s beak. “Thank you, Sasha. We have to find them.” Gail said. “What's your relation to her?” Sasha asked. “I’m her sister.”

 “You mean-you're related?”

“Yeah.”

“Well then, please-find her.”

Nightstar curled up closer to the shivering Syrus. Autumn’s teeth chattered. Her lips were a light shade of blue. Nightstar wanted to lick her, but that would coat her face in a cold, hard ice layer. Nightstar’s ears pricked at the sound of footsteps. Autumn was in no shape to run. The figure turned a corner and looked into the alleyway. Nightstar leaped at the person. “Ack!” They yelled. A flash of gold, then a golden dog was on top of Nightstar. It was Tengo! Nightstar barked a warning at Tengo. A flash of recognition crossed his face, and Tengo released Nightstar. Mariana was hugging her sister tightly, trying to warm her. Nightstar needed to get her out of here. Mariana turned to look up. NOW! Nightstar ran, grabbed Autumn’s coat collar, and threw her onto him. Nightstar galloped away, leaving Mariana softly crying.

Gail shoved her hands in her pockets. It was a frigid evening. Umaris was cuddled against Gail’s chest. As they passed an allyway, two bodies alerted her. One was furry, and the other was-Autumn! Gail put a hand to Umaris’s beak, just before he was going to shriek. Gail took out a small tranqilizer gun that she forgot she had. Fwip! The needle penetrated the wolf’s thick fur. The wolf growled with the pain, but soon his ragged, cold breaths turned into peaceful sleep. Gail ran over to where autumn was. AUtumn woke up with a jolt, and was suppriesed to see Gail standing over her. “Who-who-who are you?” Autumn asked. “I’m gail.” Umaris shreiked, begging to fly. “Okay, okay Umaris! Jeez!” Gail opened up her hoodie. The bird flew out, circling around the girls. “Is that you bird?” Autumn asked. “My gaurdian.” Gail said. “Now come on, help me carry this big lump of a wolf.”

“Are you a syrus?”

“Yeah-duh. Your sister in fact. You gotta be queen.”

“Me!?”

“Yeah.”

“but I’m-”

“not ready? Just a kid? Not good enough?”

Gail Hugged her tightly. Gail felt tears on her cheeks. “I love you. And you are ready. You are good enough. Just please. Our aunt is horrible. She thinks I don’t see it, but our people are starving. The’re slaves for their own kingdom.”

“Okay. I’ll be queen.”

they looked up at the stars, and Gail imagined that their mother was nodding down at them from above.

Super cute story! But there are a few grammer mistakes i would like to point out. 1. AUtumn woke up with a jolt, and was suppriesed to see Gail standing over her. You accidentaly made "U" capital. 2. and was suppriesed to see Gail standing over her. Surprised is spelled wrong. Don't feel bad tho, because im not pointing them out in a bad way! :)
