Oral origin myths often had elements in common: divided waters, mud, space gods, edicts, heroes & a flood, preserved in cave art, cuneiform, heiroglyphics & other primitive writings. While Marduk, Ea-Enki's son, & Abram of Ur were clearly overhyped, what else is known about Sumer?

The earliest record of a Sumerian creation myth is found on a single fragmentary tablet excavated in Nippur by the Expedition of the University of Pennsylvania in 1893 & first recognized by Arno Poebel in 1912. It is called The Eridu Genesis by historian Thorkild Jacobsen & is written in the Sumerian language & dated to around 1600 BCE. Other Sumerian creation myths from around this date are called the Barton Cylinder, the Debate between sheep & grain & the Debate between Winter & Summer, also found at Nippur. Sumerian myths were passed down through oral tradition until the invention of writing (the earliest myth discovered so far, the Epic of Gilgamesh, is Sumerian & is written on a series of fractured clay tablets). 

Sumerian mythology is the oldest recorded mythology in the world. Several stories in later mythologies, such as the Babylonian, Assyrian, Hittite, Hurrian, Semite, Greek, Roman, and even Indian mythologies, actually are copies of Sumerian tales. They believed that first there was a primeval sea that gave rise to a united heaven & earth. Between heaven & earth came the air, whose main characteristic was expansion. The air produced the moon, then the moon produced the sun. Once heaven & earth were separated, plants, animals, & human life became possible.

What is known about Sumerian Anunnaki? They are a group of deities of ancient Sumerians, Akkadians, Assyrians & Babylonians, believed to be the offspring of An & his consort, the earth goddess Ki. Eldest Anunnaki was Enlil, god of air & chief god of the Sumerian pantheon.

The Anunnaki are chiefly mentioned in literary texts & very little evidence to support the existence of any cult of them has yet been unearthed. This is likely due to the fact that each member of the Anunnaki had his or her own individual cult, separate from the others. Similarly, no representations of the Anunnaki as a complete group have yet been discovered.

Who was Zecharia Sitchin & what did he learn by deciphering cuneiform tablets? Zecharia Sitchin was one of the few scholars able to read & interpret ancient Sumerian & Akkadian clay tablets. His bestselling book “The 12th Planet” is based on texts from the ancient civilizations of the Near East. He deciphered many tablets as for him this was not myth but real ancient history. The texts wedged into clay or stone tablets praised real beings. The instructions on the tablets for building the temple towers (the homes of the city gods, called ziggurats) were given by real, powerful beings: the Annunaki, seen as gods by the people.

Zecharia Sitchin’s series “The Earth Chronicles”, beginning with “The 12th Planet”, revolves around Sitchin’s unique interpretation of ancient Sumerian & Middle Eastern texts, megalithic sites, & artifacts from around the world. According to Sitchin, the clay tablets describe an alien race known as the Anunnaki, who came to Earth to get gold. Sitchin wrote that extraterrestrials visited earth because their home-planet needed gold to survive. TikTok Old Timer got Sitchin’s books from DeKalb Public Library.

They'd also need spacetime craft & weapons. Being so long-lived, the Anunnaki were slow enough for humans to overpower them & get control. We raided their poorly guarded weapons arsenels & vimana spaceports. It wasn't that big of a fight before mankind gained the upper hand over ETs, but atomic warfare & tidal waves took very heavy tolls. Arks saved a few.
