Adventure Drama Teens & Young Adult

Angel and Lason stepped back from the bush where Norman stood in the flesh. Damian, Cody, and Liz moved farther back to let the assassins handle it. Lason’s expression softens, “Norman?” The ten-year-old just smiled and waved. Norman’s curly red hair blew in the wind as he came closer to the group. Lason’s hands shook uncontrollably, “H-how can you be alive?” Norman never smiled like a jack-o-lantern, before but yet there he was; smiling with a big toothy grin while his left eye turned black. The right slowly turned completely blood red. Norman didn’t say anything; he just opened his mouth and Angel and Lason yelled in unison, “DUCK!” Angel tackled Damian and Cody while Lason pulled Liz out of the way of Norman’s fire breath. Liz’s eyes looked like they would pop out of her head, “WHY DOES HE HAVE DRAGON BREATH!?!” Lason narrowed his eyes as he fought back tears, “He has become the Dragon sin, the killer of hope.”...

Ethan carried Tina as Zack led the way through the maze. Ethan had never seen Zack flip out nor his eyes change color. Ethan looked up at Zack, “Umm, hey Zack? What happened to your eyes back there?” Zack didn’t stop walking, “Adaline, wherever she is, sent me a message about the Devil’s Pen; Its curse is ongoing, even if it is broken. In fact, it gets stronger and it bonds to the first thing that touches it. Adaline’s pens run on personality and human soul fragments. Addie and I used to joke about me being a demon so I guess that we were right,” Zack chuckled, trying to stay on the bright side. Ethan stopped in his tracks, “So the curse is running through your blood and you’re okay with that?!” Zack turned to face him, his eyes were still a ruby-red, “No, I am not okay with any of this, but I don’t care about it. All that matters is saving Addie, no matter what hell throws at me! I promised her that I would fight for this world to stay the same, even if that means pain and sadness is around. The only way that the world will change is if good people do what they can and let the bad people get burned by their own fire!” Zack turned his back and kept moving forward, “We better hurry if Tina has a chance to live.” Ethan adjusted her on his back and continued to walk...

Angel and Lason hid behind a huge rock while Norman continued to lit the surrounding parts of the forest on fire. Damian, Cody, and Liz hid behind the witch’s gravestone as the tree behind them went up in red and yellow flames. Liz had started to hyperventilate, “What should we do?!” Cody and Damian exchanged glances with each other as an idea formed in their heads. Norman started to walk forward; towards Angel and Lason. Norman’s expression changed as Damian put the plan into motion, “HEY, KID!” Damian took off in a mad dash into the woods causing Norman to run after him. Angel and Lason chased after them...

Ethan and Zack stood before the statue that stood in the center of the maze. The statue was an angel holding a leather book. Roses grew out of the angel’s legs and bottom of her stone dress. Ethan set Tina down, using his own jacket as a pillow for her head. Zack’s eyes were still red but they were a softer shade of red; his eyes checked the statue up and down until he saw a hidden lever behind the angel’s right foot. Zack pulled it as Ethan held Tina close to his chest. The lever lowered the angel’s arms, bringing the book to eye level. Zack picked up the book, “Ethan, get over here.” The two of them read the book out loud in unison, “When a pen has broken the powers within it are loose, and the first soul that they see will become that pen in human form, carrying with them the weaknesses and burdens of that pen. If a pen makes contact with blood the soul could be destroyed unless another takes the soul’s place.” Ethan looked up at Zack and then to Tina, who was curled up in a fetal position, “I would do anything for her,” he said knowing that she would never let him do it. Zack nodded as he continued to read: “To save a human’s soul, one must carefully remove the pen and cover the blood of the soul that you are trying to save with your own blood,” before Zack could finish reading Ethan was already taking the pen out of Tina’s gut. Ethan looked down at her, fighting tears as he kissed her forehead, “I know you will never forgive me for this, but I can’t lose you.” Ethan then pressed the pen into his leg...

Tina’s now red eyes looked down at Ethan’s cold body. Her knees trembled as if she would fall to the ground, “Why did he do it?” Zack closed the book and locked eyes with her, “People do what their heart desires most more often than taking the brain’s way out.” Tina let the tears go, “BUT WHY!?” Zack didn’t respond; he just stared ahead. Tina bent over and just let all the tears fall to the dirt. Zack put his hand on her shoulder, “Death is something we all have to deal with, but living to the fullest is the hardest thing a human has to do.” Tina wiped her eyes then looked up at him, “Is Adaline important to you, as more than a friend?” Zack sighed, “She is like a sister to me, nothing more and nothing less, and that’s why I have to save her; she’s family.” Tina nodded and stood up, “I will end this nightmare for everyone,” she said as her eyes glowed and a ruby red color...

The green-eyed girl looked down at the chessboard with a grin. The brown-eyed girl’s pawn was broken while the other pieces were trapped. The green-eyed girl picked up the two halves of the pawn and giggled to herself, “You are an interesting pawn. Maybe I can use you.” ...
