Restricted Cacation

Late one day on the factory floor two employees were at each other again. Just then the boss, Noisy, stepped in. Guess Who, Sorry cut it out. Now, why do I always seem to have to come and break you two?

I don't want to hear anything from you two yet. I am going to give you guys three choices. One I could let both of you go. Two both of you go to therapy together. Three one of you takes the whole next week. Neither of them wants to get fired or have to go to therapy so they pointed at each other and said he takes time off.

Since you both can't decide we will hold an employee meeting right now and decide who will be gone next. May I have your attention, Noisy said, if you could meet me in the break there is something we need to vote for.

After the last person entered the boss said as you know Guess Who and Sorry are constantly after each other. Well, they have agreed that one of them will take time off next week so both can calm down. They can't agree on who that is. So we will vote. Could both of you come up here? Now, this is how the voting will go. When I give the signal you will come up and stand next to the person you want to vote out if here for next week.

Ok now vote. When the voting was done and counted there was a tie. Now there are two choices here I can decide with a vote or you guys could rock paper scissors for it. Both agreed with rock paper scissors so quickly they went right into it. Guess Who had scissors and Sorry has paper. Looks like Guess Who won and Sorry lost.

Sorry, I am sorry. I will let you finish it out today and tomorrow. After that take the whole next week off no pay. If for any reason you get into trouble the rest of today or tomorrow you are fired.

With that Sorry agreed. He said I don't care what it takes but all of next week I have to get away and try to calm down. When I get home I will begin looking up last-minute getaways for next week.

When Sorry got home he began to look up getaways. The catch is he hardly had any money. After a while of looking he was about to give up when he saw a small ad for a free getaway. There has to be a catch.

The ad reads as follows: would you like to go on a free getaway. There is a catch but we won't tell you. If we tell you it won't be free. Just fill out your info and tell us, within half a tank of gas where you like to go. It can be anywhere like a city, building, entertainment facility, outdoor places, or any other place you can think of within half a tank of gas from your house.

Well seems sketchy, but I will do it. I think I will go to a trampoline park. I wonder how they will make it free. One day later when I get home from my last day of work for a week, or so I thought, I got an email back from them. 

We have set up everything. Just show up at this address for check-in Sunday night. At 8 am Monday show up at trampoline park and go to the front counter. Just tell them your name and go from there. If you are still wondering about the catch you will find out when at the hotel and trampoline park.

This is all very odd. Oh, I missed something. Ps, do not buy any drinks or food once you leave your house Sunday unless offered or sharing or it is free water. You will see why when you get to both places.

Now it is Sunday I need to get my things. Better not forget some food and water. Sounds like they may be hard to come by. It will take me about an hour to get to the hotel.

Meanwhile, at the hotel, someone was checking in. My name is double and I am checking in. Yes, I see you here. Is the other person you staying with here. What do you mean by another person? It says here on your reservation there are two people. You, double and the other is Sorry.

I don't know if this person Sorry. Is there any way I can get him taken off my reservation? No, I can not without talking to him. Also before I do just want to let you know that we do not have any more rooms for the week. There is a convention in town. There is probably no room in town.

So your choices are one getting off the reservation and looking for another room which will be hard. Two see if he will be willing to look for another room. Lastly, you could just accept it and live with it for the week. I will wait and talk about it with him. Ok, you can sit down in the lobby and wait. 

About 45 minutes later Sorry showed up. Hi, my name is Sorry and I am checking in. Oh, it is you. Give me a minute. Oh, Double he is here. What is going on? Both of you guys have the same reservation. Normally I like to split you up in this case but no room left from the convention.

So do you guys want to share a room or do one of you want to risk finding a room? Sorry immediately spoke up and said I don't have money and can't try to find another room. Double said I will not give up my room since I paid for it. So either both of you have the room or neither of you have it.

They both looked at each other and sighed. Neither of them wanted to share a room, but at the same time didn't want to look for one. In the end, both of them agreed to share a room. Well, I guess we will make it work.

After checking in Sorry was told to stay back. What is it? Well, there are a few things I need to tell you. Even though we have a free breakfast you can't have any. If you're caught getting any for yourself you have to pay for it. If someone gives you breakfast then you can have it. Also if anything in the room gets broken lost or needs to be charged to the room you have to pay. 

Ok is there anything else? Yes, you are not allowed to take your car anywhere this week and you will have to walk. Unless someone gives you a ride or pays your way. We have been instructed to log in your miles. Which one is your car? I am not telling you. Then no room for you. Fine, it is the brightest yellow car out there. Good, we will go see the miles on it and get back to you. Just to let you know if you do use your car it will be $1 per mile for 10 miles, then $2 per mile for the next 10 miles, and so on. So every 10 miles $1 extra per mile. Do you agree? Yes I do

Is there anything else? One last thing even though we somethings you can do around the hotel you are not allowed to them. That is unless you see us pay for the service. This includes swimming, fitness, business center, and other things. If someone doesn't give it to you or pay it for you you're not doing it. That is all.

After all that Sorry went and sat down in the lobby. What is with all these rules? This must be the catch that they refused to tell me about. Starting with piggyback on someone else reservation. I wonder how that happened. No wonder room is free.

I better go up and talk to Double. After putting up his stuff it was time for Sorry and Double to talk. This all so weird right. Yes, it is. I wonder how is this happening? I think it has to do with my free vacation. Free vacation? Yes. I saw an ad for a free vacation and other than the usual info had to pick a place. The only catch was the place had to be within a one-half tank of gas from your house.

That is strange. It gets stranger. I think they somehow got me on your reservation for a free room by piggyback on it. Then I got a long list of things I can't do without being charged. If I have breakfast, use services, or drive my car this week I get charged. On the other hand, if someone gives me breakfast, pays for my services, or helps me get a ride by paying or offering then I am good.

Woah that is a lot to take in. What place did you choose to end up here? I chose the trampoline park nearby. Really why there? I don't it just sounded fun and different. After what happened here today I am not so sure it will. Also when I checked in that if anything happens to this room or something is charged to it I am paying.

Why are you here Double? To get away from twin and queen. Who are they? My wife and daughter. They have their plans this week. It is spring break for my daughter for the week. I asked her what she wanted and said to spend time with mom away from you and I wonder why but don't think about it. I get away for a while.

Why are you here Sorry? Well, I got in trouble at work. It was either take all of next week off and calm down or get fired. I decided to get away to try and calm down. I was wondering if each morning before I left at 7:15 if you go get me breakfast since I am not allowed to get it myself without paying? Sure I help you since you didn't know what you were getting yourself into.

Ok, I go to bed I imagine I have a long day tomorrow. At 7:15 tomorrow after getting ready and eating breakfast begin the walk to the trampoline park. It was 1.01 miles away from the hotel. Sorry arrived 5 minutes early. He walked up and said his name.

Oh, you must be my hire for the week. Your part of the work a week program. I guess I am. My name is Park. You will have two jobs. One is the security of kids and the other is doing whatever the kids say. If they ask you to join them you join them. If they want you to go get something you do it. If what they want costs money you get it from them or their parents. If there is a mess in the kid's area then you clean it up. The first few hours of each day are just for kids ages 2-6. Good luck.

Oh by the way you can't buy anything from the vending machines or food court. If someone buys it for you then yes or if share from you. You can also bring food from the hotel. Since you are here only for a week I will pay you cash at the end of your shift on Saturday. Your shift is at 8 am each day except Saturday. On Saturday we don't have kids only time so you will come in at noon. Today through Friday, you work 12 hrs a day, and Saturday 8 hrs. Your hourly rate is double the minimum wage.

Any questions? Yes, when are break and lunch? 11 am and 3 pm. Lunch at 11 for an hour and 3 if it is busy 15 minutes or if not busy 30-minute break. On Saturday your break is at 3 pm. If any damage happens that is not to the building or equipment your paying for. Like kids get hurt and go get the treatment your paying the bill. 

Most of the week went fine. It was tough not doing slot of things to be caused money. Ended up usually only having breakfast as an only meal. One mom did pay for dinner after getting his son to open up to a person other than family for the first time. 

When back at the hotel talked to Double about things that went on during the day. Double telling him he never knew how much he misses his kid and wife. Saying that his daughter is about to graduate high school. They grow up so fast.

Sorry told the story of the car accident that killed his wife and kid. He was at the gas station. After getting, gas went inside the station to use the restroom and get food and snacks for everyone. While he paying for everything he looked up and saw an eighteen-wheeler out of control and hit the car pushing it into the gas pump. The entire car went up in flames. His family didn't die in the crash since on another side of the car from impact. They died from smoke and fire.

They both exchanged stories throughout the week. Now it was Saturday. Check out time. Both Double and Sorry decided to check out together. It seems like we have a problem. There was one charge made to the room on Thursday. The charge is from the bar. It is one drink and a plate of food. As you know Sorry andy charges to the room are your responsibility. Also, there was some fine print we forgot to mention to you. If you end up having to pay for something on your own or by a charge to room you pay everything. If someone paid for you it was alright.

So that would mean you're responsible for the charge of drink and food. Also for exactly half the cost of the room for a week. Valet that Double had. There are only two ways to get out of this both by Double. He pays for the room and charge here or go pay the charge directly to the bar so there is no longer a charge to the room. Otherwise, between valet, charge, and room, it would cost Sorry $810.

Double decided to go to the bar and pay the bill so Sorry didn't have to pay a single cent. I guess this was a bargain vacation if it was free. No money spent on gas. Food and drinks by roommate Double. Walking to the job. Getting paid for a job at end of shift today then going home. Oh, one last thing Sorry. You can't use your car until you get back to the hotel from work. Ok

At work, he was eager to get off, get paid, and go home. Today was the busiest day of the week. It was a long day. Finally, pay time. Before pay has one thing I forgot to tell you. If any money was used on you for food drinks or other things to have that money taken out of pay and given back to the person who did it. I saw that one mom offered you dinner after work. Time to go home. What a week. It was technically free but had to work for it. I might do it again. Just have to pick somewhere different.
