New Place - New Things

When I first came out as a Lesbian my friends made a fuss about how 'we' lesbians fall for people that are either a city away or a continent away. Now, that was really funny back then, but that was until I fell in love with someone I've never met before and when it finally happened to me, I couldn't believe it. That saying was actually 98% true. Lesbians did love distance lovers.

I sighed as I made it out of the Arrivals place at the Havana airport, José Martí International Airport in Cuba. My first time being here and I loved the atmosphere already. 

I lifted my head up and a small smile formed on my lips apon seeing the girl I have been seeing behind my laptop screen. She was a bit taller and more beautiful in person. She seemed a bit shy also, which made her even more cute.

I stood there and just smiled at her. She slowly made her way to me and finally said a small, "hiiii" when she reached me.

I bit my bottom lip not actually believing this moment. She was here in front of me. After 7 months of talking over the phone and endless video calls, she was here next to me.

"can I hug you..?" those were the first words to come out of my mouth and she smiled as I give her the biggest hug ever.

I held on a little bit tighter, "God I have played this moment over and over in my head and honestly, it is better than I expected.."

Kerry giggled, "hello Amanda.. God you look beautiful.. These pictures aren't doing you any justice at all."

I blushed, oh so she wasn't shy at all.

"look at you saying that to me.. You look breathtaking. How are you?"

She took my laggage and then my hand with her free hand and started walking out with me to the parking lot, "I am so happy you are here. My friends still think I'm crazy.."

I laughed, "maybe they are right. I am so tired. I need a bath and my beautiful sleep. South Africa is very far.."

She nodded her head and opened the car, "true, get inside the car and I'll take us back to my place."

It felt so amazing to be here with her finally.

The drive to her place didn't take long. We kept on talking and I'd throw a compliment here and there making her smile, seeing her dimple face to face was just beyond anything. I wanted to kiss her right away, but I stopped myself. I felt dirty either way.

We arrived at her apartment and a part of me was happy because we didn't drive too long, which meant we were still in town and not outside of Havana. I googled the place and saw some really great places I'd love to see.

She opened her apartment and we got inside. She turned to look at me, "okay... So I have to tell you something.."

I furrowed my brows at her wondering what she meant by that and was was it that even had her stopping me right at her door, "yes?"

"I have.."

I heard some weird noise coming from behind her and when my eyes landed on a small cute white Bengal tiger cub.. I freaked, "there is a tiger behind you.."

She laughed and turned around to face where my eyes were looking, "oh yeah. That's Theo.." 

It has a name... Theo...?

"you named a tiger..?" I asked as I watched her go on her knees and brush the cute animal before kissing it and picking it up.

"yes. It's my pet.."

Okay, I took a breather. So I was from South Africa, where they actually thought we had lions and elephants or even tigars as pets. And I was here in a whole different world looking at my girlfriend kissing one otmf the most dangerous animals and calling it a pet.. She was calling a tiger a pet..

I pointed at it, "that's a tiger.."

She laughed and went way inside the house, "yes baby it is a tiger.."

I was a little bit hesitant about going in so I didn't bother to move even an inch where I was standing. She had a tiger as a pet.

"let me just put it inside its cage because you look terrified.."

I sighed in relief when she said that and managed to get in and close the door, "that's a tiger. You can't expect me not to look terrified.. Do you want movies. Like any movies at all?"

She laughed and came to pull me into another hug. This one was a bit different, it was intimate and she had all her body pressed against mine, almost making me forget about the tiger she had in a cage somewhere in the house.

I buried my face on her neck and kissed her there.

She giggled, "forgotten about the tiger.."

I laughed and pulled away, "you ruined the moment.. God you ruined it."

"okay, go freshen up and I'll get our food ready.. Simon and Nat are coming to welcome you and make sure we don't have sex on our first day.."

"I love your friends already.. Please direct me far away from the wild animal and to the bathroom.."

She laughed and did take me to her bathroom which was so beautiful and cosy.

She was about to leave but I pulled her hand and made her look at me. I pulled her closer and kissed her. She sighed in the kiss and snuck her hand on my waist.

I laughed and pulled away, "I wasn't saying get carried away.. I'm still dirty.."

She rolled her eyes, "let me go call these idiots"

She got out and I was left alone. I quickly got out of my clothes and started showering until I felt clean. I got out, applied her lotion on my body because she smelled so good then I put the towel around my body and got out of the bathroom.

"baby... Umh.. I do not have my laggage in the bathroom."

She came in view and smiled while looking up and down my body, she pointed at the door in front of me, "it's in there..."

I nodded my head and opened the door to get it. I put on my track pants and a hoodie. I had a long flight so being comfortable was the main thing I needed.

Then suddenly the noise I heard when we first entered this apartment came back again and when I looked by the door. This tiger was looking at me.

I jumped on top of her bed and screamed.

I heard footsteps of her running and then the door opened wider as she walked in, "what's wrong? What's happened?"

I pointed at the tiger, "what happened to its cage?"

She laughed and picked it up, "hey Theo.. Are you scaring mommy?"

I shook my head, "I am so not mommy.."

"but it's so cute.."

I got off the bed and put on her sleepers, "I know it's cute.. But still not its mommy.."

I got out of the bedroom and met up with two people sitting on the couch. I remembered them from the pictures. Her best friend and her boyfriend.

"umh... Nat and Somin..?"

They both smiled, "Heeey Amanda.. It's so great to finally meet you.. Oh my God Kerry forgot to mention how beautiful you are.."

"no I didn't.." my girlfriend said walking in with that cute tiger in her hands. I slowly walked towards her friends and sat in between them. They laughed, "it's cute isn't it?"

"very.. And totally anusual to be a pet."

Simon nodded his head, "I totally told her that she went extreme with it and she was like,"'but it's soo cuteee' "

My girlfriend kissed the animal, "it is cute.. Baby don't you agree?"

" I bet it sees you as meat when it's hungry.. "

She laughed, "wooow.. Fine guys gang up on me."

I smiled though because she looked adorable holding it, "you look cute though.."

She looked at me and smiled, "oh really?"

"and I am starving more than the animal you are holding.."

She laughed and dished up for us. She put the animal down and it started walking around the house. It was used to the surroundings and a little bit friendly, I still didn't trust it though. Where I come from, tigers aren't as friendly.

We started eating and her friends were pretty awesome.

"so, how's your first day here?" Nat asked and I took my girlfriend's hand in mine and kissed it, "amazing.. Even though this 28 year old girlfriend of mine has a frikken tiger as a pet.. I mean I'm from South African and we have animals there. I've seen cats, dogs, rats, pigs, and maybe snakes as pets, but never tigars as pets.. Never that.."

Nat laughed, "you're hilarious.." 

Kerry pulled my face and kissed me, "I love you too.. Mommy.."

I laughed, "I am no mommy to a wild animal.."

She laughed and kiss my lips again, "are you sure? Because I love you and I love it and you love me.. So you must love it."

I chuckled and kisses her back, "I do love you yes.."

"what about it?"

"okay baby I think we should leave.." Nat said and I pulled away from my girlfriend, "guys come on.."

They both got up, "thank you for the dinner but I think now should be family time.. Theo and his two mommies.. It was nice meeting you finally Amanda.."

"take Theo with you please.." I said and they laughed but got out.

"so.. Where were we?" she asked and I but my lower lip and pulled her, "could you please lock our kid in his cage so we can really really do this properly.."

She got up, "you don't have to ask me twice.." she smiled at me, "hey.. Theo and I are really happy that you are here.." 

"me too baby.. Me too.."
