Adventure Mystery Suspense

I needed to get to them, I knew where they were and they were counting on me. I just didn’t know how to get to them. The stupid tropical island was way too far away to swim. Airplanes get knocked down from the way too aggressive tropical storms. Boats get sunk from the strong currents pulling every way and crashing into the sharp rocks and reefs around the island’s edge. We found this out the hard way, stupid mother nature. I needed something that could go under the storms and currents. Something that wouldn’t shatter and be destroyed if pushed into a rock, something to get there and to get back. I rack my brain trying to think of everything I can. I get an idea, it's a very dangerous, very illegal idea but hey, I'm desperate and have nothing better to do. A navy submarine. I didn't need a big one, just one to fit everyone on the island. It would work but could I get one? I sure as hell didn’t have enough money to buy one from the government. I could steal one but if I’m caught that means getting arrested and going to jail or death, that also means death for them. My solution? Don't get caught. Easy enough, right? Hahaha, probably not. Despite logic, I go to our library and grab our navy records of the base. Thank god for the government-hating family and ancestors. I find what I'm looking for, blueprints showing how to get in and out, I could drop the sub right into the water and be on my merry way. Shouldn't take too long. According to the records, there were guards all over the place. Yet they were dated records, possibly incorrect records. But again, I'm desperate and have nothing better to do. Stealing a sub is different from stealing weapons so I needed to think outside the box. Then I get a perfect idea, instead of trying to sneak around everyone, why not just come from the water. Maybe it wasn't perfect but it was easier and faster. I grabbed some scuba gear and knives before I could second guess myself. Pulling on the wet suit and starting on a thigh holster before looking in the mirror. I make eye contact with myself and take a deep breath. I steel myself for what’s about to happen. I exit the bunker and go to the beach mentally preparing myself for what I’m about to do. Breaking into a military base is definitely top on the list of the most illegal things I’ve done. I slip on my flippers and air tank. Walking down the beach trying not to look suspicious to the others. I dive in and go out far enough so no one on the beach can see me before heading to the navy base. I swim until I meet a net stopping me from just swimming through, pulling my knife from the holster, I start cutting a hole big enough for the submarine to eventually pass through. After way too long I finish and swim through, the water is murky so I can't see much but that also means guards cant see me. Finding a sub that could fit five people I try to board, obviously it’s locked. Damn. I mentally sighed, I knew this would happen but that doesn’t mean I’m happy about it. I see a round of guards walking through, and hide under the sub, they had perfect timing. I wait until I can sneak behind them. There are three, I could take them. I quietly and quickly take off my flippers and air tank and put on a mask so they cant see my features. I quietly approach them and knock one out with the butt of my knife. I turn and kick one into the water behind him. Why they were so close to the water ill never know. Don't really have time to ask. The third guy turns to me and throws a quick punch. I doge and kick at him. He grabs my leg so I push my body up and knee him in the face. H lets go and stumble back. The guy I threw into the water and picks me up by the waist. I wrap my legs around his torso and grab the back of his head. Using my momentum I throw him to the ground and roll to the side. Effectively knocking the wind out of him and kicking him one face knocking him out. The guy I needed in the face charges me but I roll out of the way and swipe his feet. His head slams into the ground with a nasty crack. I quickly check his pulse. I don't like to kill. he's still alive and breathing so I search his pockets for a key. I find it on the second guy and mentally pat myself on the back for that one. I can hear yelling so I run to a sub and unlock the hatch before climbing in and locking it behind me. I look at the controls, I don’t know what I’m doing. I should have checked before I left but here we are. I just yolo it and press a button that looks like it could turn the sub on. I get lucky and it starts and drops fully into the water. I gun what I’m pretty sure is the gas and precariously navigate through the hole of the net into the open ocean. I get as far away as possible before letting myself breathe properly and wait for my heartbeat to slow down. I use the subs mapping technology I figure out where I am. Using the map I have I point them submarine towards the island. Leaning back in the pilot's seat I realize something. I’m finally going to be able to see them all. After weeks of worrying and trying to get help from others, I'm going to be able to see them. My only hope is that they are still alive.
