Moonlight

“I really do not want to go” I explained, “I have never been to a party, much less a college party” 

  Who wants to go to a party on Halloween anyway, it is by far the scariest holiday in existence. 

I mean I know who would but, I don't.

“Come on Em, it will be fun, think of all the college boys that will be there, or girls, “  Ashley sung that sentence,

  I have so much homework, plus 2 projects due in a week, i just don’t have the time” I tried thinking of other reasons not to go, “ I honestly doubt  our moms would even let us go”

“Don’t you even worry about our  moms, they  will never know.”

“Look Ash, we are going to be late for school with you blabbing your mouth.”  We made it to school just as the bell rang for first class.

           *Ding. Ding. Ding*

 Oh no there goes the lunch bell.

   One bright thing about today is one of my best friends just got back to school. She spent some time up state with family. For what reason, I have no clue. She wouldn't tell me.

 “OMG!!!!!!” I heard Ashley before I even got to the cafeteria. “I am so glad you are back. Now you can help me convince Cranky to come to this college party this weekend.”

  “I told Ashley I dont want to go, I have too much stuff on my plate right now” I turned to Sydney, “ i am so glad you are back. Did you have fun and please tell me you arent going to that stupid party this weekend.”

“Hey Em, and i haven't decided yet. I heard it is going to be the biggest party of the year,”

“You hear that. Now you have to go. It's going to be the biggest party of the year.”  

“ I have to go guys. My class is way across campus” I ran away from the table towards the door.

Why does she want me to go so badly? I could go, but it would only be to make sure Ashley doesnt get into any trouble. 

“Ashley!!!!” I scream into my phone” where are you i have been waiting for you for almost an hour”

“Don't worry, sydney and i are on our way” 

  I don't know why every single day they seem to take longer and longer. 

As I drove to my house I noticed that they have not stopped talking about this Saturday. "So you're going Sydney?" I asked 

"Yeah. I don't exactly want to miss the biggest party of the year," she looked around and started smiling," I matched with guy on tinder that plans on being there and I totally want to go meet him"

 That doesn't even quite sound safe " you're going to meet him there ?"

"Yeah but don't you worry Ashley is going to go there too. Along with her new boy toy"

"Oh yea, I forgot to tell you I met this guy last week and he's a football player and it's his party we have to come Emily. Please for me?"

How could I even say no to that?

"Please for us" they both chimed.

"Okay! Okay! Okay! But only because I don't think it is safe and I need to know you both get home safely!!"

Friday morning the day before. Also according to the girls the day to 'pre-party'

Whatever that means  after school today we are going to Ashley's. My mom thinks I'm spending the weekend there, and she has fairly party outfits as she would say. 

Halfway through today and I am getting a very bad feeling about tomorrow night.

We get to Ashley's shortly after 6 pm and begin the hunt for clothes.

"What about the black dress" I admired myself in the mirror 

"Are you attending a funeral? " they handed me this purple outfit it doesn't cover much but I like it 

"I'll do your makeup tomorrow before you get into the outfit" Sydney said 

All our outfits and hairstyles were picked and ready for tomorrow.

We woke up around noon. The party starts around 5pm but we planned on showing up around 7.

Ashley's mom didn't care too much about where we were going.

The party was 45 minutes away from town. Which seemed like a lifetime when all I could think about was getting home. 

 As we arrived I noticed there were a lot more people than I expected. I saw so many red solo cups. 

"Woah is that a pool? And hottub?" Sydney had already disappeared and I could see Ashley leaving me as well.

 I wandered around for what seemed like forever but was only thirty or so minutes. 

"You seem like you don't belong here?" Oh he is hot. Wow. His eyes were the color of almonds he was only wearing swim shorts but man could I see everything. "Hey, are you okay?"

"Yeah sorry, I came with a couple friends. They're around here somewhere" he is so handsome"

"Could I offer you something to drink? Maybe a beer, wine, whiskey? I even have sweet tea."

Uh, well I guess a drink couldn't hurt, "a beer is fine," I took a sip this tasted awful.

"Yeah it's an acquired taste, here let me introduce you to my friends" 

This man had so many friends but I started to actually have fun after a few shots of whiskey. And some wine.

"Hey I never got your name?"

"Trent, yours?"

"Emily"

"Wait, Emily. As in Emily Moon? "

How did he know that name? Not even Ashley and Sydney know that name

"How do you know that?"

"I could tell you, but I don't know you that well yet. Does Ashley know who or what you are?"

"No. And I would like to keep it that way to."

"Hey Trent, did she come?" One of his friends walked over, "wait is this her?"

"Yes, will. It is"

"I cannot believe the summoning worked,"  how did they know? Who are they?!

I have to let the others know 

"Ah ah ah, you wouldn't want Ashley and Sydney to get hurt now do you?"

"Where are they? Dont hurt them. Ill do anything you want" 

"Good girl" he pulled me into a dark room. 

I managed to send out a warning to the others they must know someone is hunting us again.

We got to some other room that was bright. I could barely see. 

"There is something you should know Emily. Your friends. They're dead."

What? No. I never meant for them to get hurt. I should have never come. 

Someone walked in. 

"Moonlight. It has been a long time"

No one calls me that. Only person who ever called me that was, "dad?"

"Yes sweetheart,"

"But why? Why hurt my friends. When you could have just called?"

"I did call. And your mother. She wouldn't let me see or talk to you." 

I haven't seen my dad in forever, "why do all of this?"

"So you'll learn who you truly are, you are our special guest and you must complete the ritual tonight."

The retail? For me to become a full moon. A goddess. Ruler of the moon. "I can't, mom said,"

"Your mother doesn't want to have you fight for the throne, she was never the rightful heir. You are and if you don't complete it by midnight in 2 hours, something very bad will happen" he interrupted me 

What bad will come of it. Could something happen to my mom if she rules for too long ? 

"I'll only do it if my friends are okay" 

He threw his hands towards Trent,

"Okay, fine. I lied they aren't dead They're just very drunk and passed out"

"Okay proof enough moonlight?" My father said 

 "No that isn't proof enough how am I to take the word of someone who has already lied to me" 

"Fair enough, bring in the girls" 

I waited a few minutes until… " Ashley!!! Sydney!!! Are you two alright?"

"Yeah Em. Did you meet my bf, he's around here somewhere" they were so out of their minds I knew if I didn't do what they wanted they would be hurt.

"Okay. I'll do it"

" Good girl, there is one other thing. For you to understand and know everything you and Trent have to connect your markings and show your true selves to one another"

I haven't shown my true self ever. I have always hidden myself.

As I shed the human layer of skin I see Trent shedding his as well.

He's fiery as the sun to bright and hot I can feel the heat radiating off of him. And I am so cool and shimmery as the moon with some light white shining onto his body. 

As out markings touched everything flashed. 

My mom would burn to ashes when Trent became the God of the sun. Only a true goddess of the moon could handle the transformation of the sun God. I saw my mother hide the truth. The suns were not evil, they are our soul mates. My father was the only mood God to be born and a sun goddess never born she found a way to strip him and take the moon powers.

If I don't embrace the power of the moon and sun along with Trent my mother could die. And the moon and earth would crash into the sun. He would be too strong without me. 

I am the reason everything is together. Without me. There would be no one else. The earth goddesses beg me to do this to save them. My mother is the evil one she tried to take this from me. As she did my father. But she does not deserve to die.

I do this for you mother. I hope you forgive me. 

As we became our true selves and embraced one another  it was like heaven the earth is now shining in a new lightness. 

"Thank you moonlight, now let's get this party actually started" my father smiled as he walked away

Trent and I went back upstairs and it was well into the night when we finally saw Sydney and Ashley again.

"Look at you being the center of attention and all, I see you dancing up there" Sydney smiled as she joined me

"I dont think I've ever seen you happier Em, move over beasties I'm coming up to!" Ashley jumped up here with us and we danced for a while longer before heading home. 

I had fun, i'm glad I came out. And now with Trent by my side there is nowhere I rather be. Except here being the Moonlight I am.
