The young child Adotey witnessed a major historical event such as the Homowo festival.
Also during the beginning of the major homowo festival which was a historic event for the Ga natives of Tema. Adotey who was in Accra, Tema in Ghana witnessed the major historical event of the native Ga community.
Adotey witnessed that for the beginning of the major historical event of the Ga's almost all the people of the Ga community gather together to witness the proceeds of the Ga festival at Tema in Accra.
As witnessed and noted by Adotey homowo is a festival of harvest celebrated by the Ga Adangbe people of Ghana.
The Ga people do celebrate Homowo in remembrance of the famine that once happened in their history in Ghana.
Adotey noted that the Homowo festival starts within the month of May with the planting of crops that are mainly maize and yam before the rainy season starts ultimately.
Also Adotey witnessed that during the festival , they normally perform a dance called Kpanlogo.
Again the homowo also means to hoot or jeer at hunger. The homowo festival is celebrated predominantly at places where the Ga people dwell.
As it was observed by the Ga's the Ga people created the homowo festival , hence its name and meaning.
Also Adotey noted and witnessed that homowo is greatly celebrated in all towns in the Ga state with celebrations climaxing in the Gamashie community.
Again , Adotey noted that the celebration of the homowo begins with the planting of maize which is then used in preparing the food for the festival homowo.
The food for the festival homowo is called kpokpoi or kpekple.
Also Adotey also witnessed that during this period noises and disturbances are prohibited or banned within the community and the entire neighbourhood. Also Adotey noted and witnessed that the ban on noise making , drumming and dancing is held on every 13th May of each year. This festival of homowo will hinder the maturity of the crop.
The lifting of the ban on drumming and dancing noise making was held on the 13th June every year in our calendar.
The food for the homowo festival kpokpoi or kpekple is eaten with Palm nut soup.
The food for the festival kpokpoi or kpekple is sprinkled within the town or the community.
This Adotey noted that it was normally done by the traditional leaders and some family heads .
All other family heads were noted and witnessed by Adotey to have sprinkle kpokpoi in their family house. This celebration of the homowo includes marching down roads and streets of the community , then beating drums , chanting, face painting, singing and some traditional dances.
However on this day there is usually alot of traffic and roads that are usually blocked off to accommodate the homowo festival .
Although it is a Ga tradition , Adotey also witnessed that many other ethnic groups are welcomed to join in the homowo celebration.
Also Adotey witnessed other dates scheduled for Ga Homowo which includes
- Nungua within the period 6th July.
- Lante Dzan we usually during 3rd August.
- Tema held on 9th August.
- Ga Mashie also held on 17th August.
- Osu on 27th August.
- La within the period of 27th August.
- Teshie usually during 27th August.
- Kpone also held on 27th August.
- Prampram within the period 27th August.
- Ningo also held on 27th August .
Adotey also noted and witnessed that the Ga land from its origins has been divided into three principal divisions namely,
1. Ga Mashi (Accra).
2. Dangme (to the east and north), and
3. Obutu or Awutu to the (east).
Again during the festival Adotey also witnessed that the Ga Traditional Council comprises of the following:
1. Ga Mantse (Head)
2. Gbese
3. Asere
4. Abola
5. Otublohum
6. Sempe
7. Ngleshi
8. Akunmadzen
9. Ngleshie Alata
10. Osu
11. La
12. Teshie
13 .Nungua
14. Tema
15. Nai Wulomo
16. Sakumo Wulomo
17. Korle Wulomo
Also among other clans of Osu are:
1 Osu Alata
2 Osu Ashanti
3 Anecho
4 Kinkawe
These clans of Osu are noted and witnessed by Adotey to celebrate the homowo festival.
Adotey also witnessed and noted during the festival that the first settlers of Teshie migrated from Teshie in Togo by Nuumo Trebi, and followed by Nuumo Nmati and his followers from La; followed by Nuumo Martey and his followers from Prampram; followed by some strangers from Fanti land (mainly fishermen), and other strangers from Ga Mashi in central Accra.
The clans of Teshie are noted as follows:

Also Adotey witnessed and noted that the La community: Akutsei or Clans of La are as follows:
1) Abese
2) Kwei (Koi)

4) Nmati
5) Lenshi
6)Klan Naa
7) Saishi/Anecho and others
Also Adotey witnessed and noted during the festival that NUNGUA: Has two main faction, the Amanfa and Sanshi.
From these two factions are formed eight clans of Nungua.
The eight clans of Nungua are as follows:
1) Nii Mantse We
2) Nii Moi We
3) Nii Borte We
4) Nii Adzin We
5) Nii Borkwei We
6) Nii Osokrono We
7)Nii Odarteitse We
8) Nii Djenge We.
Adotey noted and witnessed that the Kpone or Tema Municipality: comprises of the following clans:
1) Bediako We.
2) Kojo We.
3) Sanshi We.
Again Adotey noted and witnessed that the Ada traditional format is like the other GaDangme subnations format. These are clans, clan houses, clan names coupled with divinities for each clan house and each clan. The two main divisions of Ada are Big Ada and Ada Foah. Ada clans are as follows:
1) Adibia We.
2) Lomobia We.
3) Tekperbia We.
4) Dangmebia We.
5) Ohuewen.
6) Korgbo.
7) Kudragbe.
8)Kabiawetsu.
9) Kabiawemu.
10) Kpono.
In addition Adotey noted that Dangme Traditional Areas include
1.Ningo.
2.Kpone.
3.Osudoku.
4.Prampram (Gbugbla).
5.Agotime.
6.Dodowa.
Also Adotey witnessed the clans of Ningo traditional areas were as follows:
1) Lowerkpono.
2) Salosisi.
3) Tawiah Kwetey.
4) Adela.
5) Odoi.
6) Old Ningo Labiawer clan and Lowerkpon.
Also Adotey noted and witnessed that the clans of Prampram were as follows:
1) Dawhenya(Kle Chawenya).
2)Afienya (Kle).
3) Miotso (Lakpler).
4) Mobole (Kle).
5)Mataheko (Akuble).
6) Ablekuma (Lakpler)
7) Obetseklu (Klu)
Finally as witnessed by Adotey other towns that celebrated the homowo festival includes La, Teshie Nungua,Osu , Prampram, Tema, Ningo and Gamashie.
