Teens & Young Adult High School Funny

"Why do you have knitting needles in your hair and yarn in your bag Lexa?" I said holding my best friends bag.

"If you must know Julie, I am trying to learn how to knit. I'll need this skill for when I'm old with grandkids. I have to knit them some cute gloves for winter and stuff." She said taking her bag.

"Why do I even ask anymore." I said. "I swear your like Trish from that show when we were kids." I said. "Let's go before we miss the bus." I said. "You'll be explaining your new hobby to my mom." I said. We left the school building and got on the bus. While on the bus which is about a thirty minute ride, Lexa was trying to knit. "Making any progress?" I said.

"Yeah this isn't for me." She said shoving the stuff in her bag. "Oh I know what I can do!" She said excitedly. People around us looked at her because of how loud she was. And the bus driver shot a glare our way. "I'm going to try baking." She said. "I hear it's very therapeutic when your angry or sad." She said.

"Yeah, I know. I'm the one that told you that." I said.

"So you'll teach me to bake?" She said. I just looked out the window with a sigh. "So is that a yes?" She said. We finally got to our stop and we got off. "You still haven't-"

"Fine Lexa." I said. She jumped on me trying to hug me but instead we just fell to the ground. "Ow." I said as we hit the ground.

"Your amazing." She said hugging me tightly while she crushed me.

"Do you mind? I kinda can't breathe down here." I said.

"Oh sorry." She said getting up. I got up and dusted myself off and we walked to my house. We walked into the house and my mom was doing her yoga in the living room.

"Hey girls." She said through her open legs while she was touched her toes.

"Hey Mrs. P." Lexa said.

"What's the hobby for today?" My mom asked Lexa.

"I tried knitting but that didn't work out so your favorite child is going to teach me baking." She said.

"After homework." My mom said while changing to a new position.

"Yup." I said giving her thumbs up. "To the room." I said. We walked in and closed the door. "Alright get the homework out and I'll go get the snacks." I said.

"I don't think I've tried yoga yet. Maybe I'll try yoga." Lexa said.

"Homework!" I said snapping her out of her hobby trance. I got snacks from the kitchen and when I walked back into my room Lexa was in a yoga pose on my floor. "Did you at least get the homework out?" I asked walking past her.

"Desk." She said. "I like this. It's relaxing." She said.

"That's what you said about the last six hobbies you tried." I said sitting down. "Cookie?" I said holding it out. She grabbed it while still doing a yoga pose. I just turned around and did my homework.

***After homework***

"You ready to try the baking?" I said closing my journal.

"Not yet. I'm enjoying this yoga. It's like I'm one with the earth or something." She said.

"Okay Ms. Yoga Master." I said. "Namaste." I said walking past her to my closet. I give it till tomorrow and she feels the effect of some of those positions. I'm supportive of everything she does even when it's only thirty minutes.

"Do you know what your gonna bring for the mini party in our club?" Lexa said while laying on the floor. "I know you might bake something but what are you gonna bake so I don't buy the same thing." She said.

"I could make something for the both of us ya know." I said.

"Nope not gonna use you for your skill." She said. "Okay I really think I might've popped my leg out of place." She said.

"I'm sure if you did you wouldn't be sitting on the floor all calm." I said.

"Okay yoga is no bueno." She said. "Can you pass me my phone." She said reaching her hand out for it. I grabbed it and passed it to her. She turned it on and jumped up quickly. "It's on." She said.

"What's on?" I asked confused.

"We have to go now." She said jumping up.

"Are we under attack or something?" I said.

"The concert is back on and it is in an hour. We aren't even close to being ready. And it's like a two hour drive there." She said.

"Your kidding." I said.

"Ya know I could try making flyers because the ones I made for the guys came out pretty good." She said.

"Lexa remember you said it was a waste of crafting talent for anyone and as much as I love you, those flyers sucked." I said grabbing my coat.

"Are you sure? Didn't they use them to put it around tow-"

"No. They had an actual professional do them because you tried making them a flyer that said 'if you don't come then your mom's a how.' I don't think they liked that very much." I said.

"I gave them a good price though." She said.

"You tried charging them $3.50 a flyer." I said.

"Okay what about a influencer on YouTube? People are becoming famous for just about anything now." She said as we walked out of my room.

"You got 'cancelled' the first week of you trying that because you called a little girl a bitch because she said you looked like a teletubby when you wore red." I said.

"She should know a child's place then." She said.

"She was six." I said.

"You gotta teach them early." She said.

"Mom the boys are back on and they go on at 7." I yelled while going down the stairs.

"It'll take us like an hour and a half to get there if there isn't traffic." My mom said coming out of the kitchen.

"Oh nevermind it's been moved to next Friday." Lexa said. "I should've probably finished reading the description. All I read was 'we're back on'." Lexa said.

"Nevermind then." I said to my mom.

"Yup." She said going back to her ice cream in the kitchen.

"I'm ready to learn baking." Lexa said.

"Give me a minute." I said.

"I'm gonna go to the store, we are low on ice cream." My mom said putting the empty ice cream container in the trash.

"Yup." I said.

"Can you grab some beads and string? If this baking thing doesn't work out maybe I'll try making beaded jewelry." Lexa said.

***After try one***

"Okay for this part the instructions are literally right there in your face, okay?" I said. "Read carefully and do not rush." I said.

"I didn't know I was pouring to much oil." She said.

"It's okay." I said. "While you do that I'm gonna make a pie. If you need help at any moment just call me." I said.

"Gotcha." She said. I walked to the other side of the kitchen and began making the crust for my pie.

"Lexa can you grab the flour from the cabinet please?" I asked.

"Yup." I was cleaning my hands off and as soon as I turned around Lexa tried opening the flour bag which did not go very well. Floor flew everywhere. Including my hair. I was frozen for a second then I reached for the now empty flour bag and took it from her.

"Sorry." She said with a smile. "Maybe the bead bracelets will be better." She said trying to lighten the mood.

"Yeah... Maybe."

Ohhh my GOD the frustration poor Julie has with this Lexa!! But, I would be lying if I said I didn't snort my coffee everywhere when that flour bag fell out of the cupboard! That really cracked me up! Great story!
