Drama Romance Thriller

I thought we could work things out, as if things would be different this time. How could I continue to allow you to return after the many arguments we've had.

"No, I will not allow you to sit here and mock me Jeremy." Elle said.

"Sit here and mock you? That's not the case here Elle." Jeremy said confusingly.

He told me three days after our wedding night that he didn't want kids. He knew my plans of being a stay at home mom and taking care of our family, why did he change his mind last minute?

"We talked about this for days on end before we committed our entire lives to each other. Now all of a sudden you change your mind?" Elle sobbed.

"Where did you get this idea that I agreed to this? The topics were never there and weren't clear."

He's annoyed with me right now, I think my best option is to stay in a separate hotel room tonight. How could he think that we wont have kids? Family is everything to me, he knew that.

"Elle, please don't leave. Let's just take a second and breathe for a moment. Look I know family is everything to you but there's something your parents have hidden from you." Jeremy said with concern.

"Oh great, now you're dragging my father into this? So what he decked you in the face 5 years ago for a simple misunderstanding, he didn't realize you had a twin brother and he thought you were cheating on me." Elle spoke with annoyance.

"Elle..." Jeremy chuckled, "That's not it, the night of the bachelor party your dad walked up to me and told me I can't get you pregnant."

Elle looked with confusion "What are you implying?"

"I was told if I was to ever get you pregnant I'd be hunted." Jeremy said.

"You're being ridiculous, I don't understand." Elle laughed.

"You don't understand, do you not see how all of your sisters first marriages don't last?" he said.

"Oh here we go, my family is always a hot mess with you." Elle scoffed.

"Elle, where's Marcus? How come he hasn't shown up to the past two Christmas'? You should call him."

Elle picks up her phone with confusion, dials Marcus' number. Ring...Ring....Ring...

"The number you're trying to reach has been disconnected. Goodbye."

"What does this mean?" Elle said as her eyes filled with tears.

"I told you, I'll be hunted." Jeremy said softly.

"No it's not true, you're lying." Elle screamed.

"Listen to me, someone is going to fake our death. I have these fake passports and were going to go live in Europe. I need you to pick up the phone and just called your mother. Tell her everything is fine, we plan on going on a boating trip tomorrow." Jeremy said while rushing around to pack.

My life has come down to this? My dad kills off my siblings husbands if we carry a child? It doesn't make sense. Now I have to run away? But my life here.. I don't know any European languages.

I am frozen in my tracks. I pick up my phone, dial my mothers number.

"Mom? Hi, yeah everything is great.. We're going on a fishing trip with a couple of Jeremy's friends tomorrow.. Yeah, it sounds like fun. But hey.. I just want to say thank you for everything, you know the wedding and just everything. I just want you to know I love you okay? Alright I love you, goodnight mom.." Elle hung-up the phone to sob.

"I still don't understand... If my father figures out that this was all a set-up, wont he still try to find us?" Elle said in fear.

"Where we are going, he wont be able to find. I promise." Jeremy said with hope in his eyes.

This is all so crazy to me, what is he saying? How do we go from having children to my father practically being a cult leader and having to pack up my things and hide in Europe? I trust my gut and just follow Jeremy's lead. What if in the airport they'll recognize the fake passports? Will we be able to escape or will we get busted? I've come to the realization that Jeremy has spent a lot of time with the male siblings in my family... I just thought that it was him getting close with everyone. Maybe he was just collecting information to get me out of this.

I grabbed my bags, looked at the documents Jeremy handed me. I am no longer Elle Samantha Woods.... I am now Danielle Marie Martell.

We get in the taxi cab and I just let Jeremy doing all of the talking. I know my big mouth will get me in trouble. I'm just repeating Danielle Marie Martell over and over in my head. I must've been so focused I didn't even realize we made it to the airport. Jeremy was holding my hand and asked me if I was ready. I nod my head and grabbed the handle. I stepped out of the taxi, gave a half smile as a thank you to the driver. I took my bag from the taxi driver while Jeremy handed him the cash for the ride.

"Thank you Samuel." The taxi driver said.

Samuel? That's the name you chose Jeremy?

"Two flights to anywhere in Europe, I decided to surprise my lovely wife to a flight to Europe for our honeymoon. Isn't that exciting Dani?" Jeremy said to the counter person at the airport.

Just play it off Elle, wait no Danielle. Deep breathe.

"Yeah, you remembered how much I love Europe. I'm so excited!" Elle said with over excitement.

Do you think she bought it? I'm starting to zone out while Jeremy takes care of everything. I snap out and Jeremy is escorting me TSA, remember your name is Danielle.

"Next." The TSA guy screams.

I walk up to him with my ticket and passport, he's looking at it in depth, really looking at every corner. I start to internally freak out. He knows its fake, I'm going to jail. Jeremy is going to get killed for trying to run away from my father.

"Well at least I know it's not a fake, normally people start asking questions when I look at their passports and they automatically self incriminate themselves." The security guy chuckles.

"Haha well I'm glad you're doing your job sir. Thank you." Elle said with relief.

I walk through and hug Jeremy. We get to our gate, I look up at the screen... Heathrow Airport. This is it... This is the end of the road as Elle...

Hi Laura, Very interesting story. I liked how it became a thriller and the part where they leave for the airport seemed quite cinematic. There were interesting twists in the story and you kept the pacing going by uncovering them step by step. I think a couple of things could help flesh out the characters more and build tension. As I was reading the story, I was imagining them a bit like the main character in Catch me if you can, when he gets to the airport and feels good about himself - not as gloomy as it could be for a thriller. (perhap...
