Adventure Happy People of Color

**Title: Destiny's Play**

**Act 1, Scene 1: The Kindergarten Yard**

*Enter MARILYN, a young girl with bright eyes, clutching a small backpack. The school gate is in the background, and children play around her.*

**MARILYN:**

(Aside)

What curious fate doth lead me here today?

A boy with dark brown eyes and hair doth stand,

His visage doth spark in me strange delight,

As if our paths in past had crossed before.

Since first I saw him through yon gate, my heart,

Doth yearn to know this boy and make him mine.

*Enter YOUNG HECTOR, playing with other children. He glances at MARILYN and smiles. MARILYN blushes and looks away.*

**MARILYN:**

(Aside)

Oh, destiny, thou art a playful knave,

For in this simple yard, my love’s begun.

**Act 1, Scene 2: The Elementary School Hallway**

*MARILYN and YOUNG HECTOR are now slightly older, passing each other in the bustling hallway. HECTOR smiles at MARILYN, who smiles back shyly.*

**MARILYN:**

(Aside)

Again, this boy with eyes like midnight skies,

In halls of learning, fate doth bring him near.

Is this mere chance, or doth the stars conspire

To weave our lives in patterns intertwine?

*Enter friends of MARILYN, who chatter around her.*

**FRIEND 1:**

Marilyn, didst thou see? The boy who doth excel

In studies and in sport, young Hector named?

**MARILYN:**

Aye, I have seen him oft, and in my heart,

A spark ignites each time our paths do cross.

**FRIEND 2:**

A handsome lad, and well admired by all.

Yet, dost thou think he knows of thy regard?

**MARILYN:**

In silence, I observe, and hope that fate

May guide our steps together, one sweet day.

**Act 2, Scene 1: The High School Football Field**

*HECTOR, now a handsome young man, stands proudly on the field as the football team's captain. MARILYN watches from the sidelines, her eyes filled with longing.*

**MARILYN:**

(Aside)

In this grand stage of youth, he shines so bright,

The girls around him swoon, their hearts afire.

Yet in my breast, a green-eyed monster wakes,

To see him thus admired by all but me.

*Enter CHERRY, HECTOR's girlfriend, who embraces him. MARILYN looks away, distressed.*

**MARILYN:**

(Aside)

Oh, cruel love, why dost thou torment so?

Yet still, my heart holds faith in future's glow.

*CHERRY and HECTOR share a laugh, oblivious to MARILYN’s gaze.*

**FRIEND 3:**

(Approaching MARILYN)

Marilyn, why standest thou alone? The night

Is fair, and all do celebrate our team.

**MARILYN:**

(Sighing)

My heart is torn, for he who leads them all

Holds captive every thought within my mind.

**FRIEND 3:**

Then speak to him, for silence yields but pain.

Perchance he feels the same, though none may know.

**MARILYN:**

Nay, silence is my friend, though bitter sweet.

For in my dreams alone, he doth belong.

**Act 2, Scene 2: The School Corridor**

*MARILYN walks through the school, lost in thought. HECTOR passes by with his friends and briefly smiles at her. She returns the smile, heartened.*

**MARILYN:**

(Aside)

Though words between us ne'er were exchanged,

Our fleeting smiles did build a world of dreams.

Yet, he a year my senior, now departs,

And leaves me with a heart that silent screams.

*The bell rings, and students scatter. MARILYN watches HECTOR leave, her heart heavy.*

**FRIEND 4:**

(Murmuring)

He goes, but soon returns for graduation.

Keep faith, for time doth often heal the heart.

**MARILYN:**

Yet, faith alone doth little ease the ache

Of seeing him with others, not with me.

**Act 3, Scene 1: The Wedding Reception**

*The scene shifts to a grand wedding hall. MARILYN, now a young woman, stands in a beautiful dress. She spots HECTOR among the guests.*

**MARILYN:**

(Aside)

What hand of fate hath brought him here tonight,

When I had thought my dreams of him were lost?

In this joyous event, our paths converge,

And hope, once faint, now rises from the past.

*HECTOR approaches MARILYN, smiling warmly.*

**HECTOR:**

Fair lady, dost thou remember me?

Our paths oft crossed in days of youth gone by.

**MARILYN:**

(Blushing)

Indeed, good sir, I do remember well.

Though words were scarce, our smiles did oft suffice.

**HECTOR:**

Methinks the stars have led us here this night,

To weave anew the threads of destiny.

*They begin to dance, the music soft and sweet. As they move, the crowd fades into the background.*

**MARILYN:**

(Aside)

In dreams and waking hours, he hath dwelt,

And now, at last, the universe conspires

To grant the wish my heart hath longed to see.

**HECTOR:**

(Aside)

In eyes of hers, a love so deep I find,

That all my past affections pale and fade.

**Act 4, Scene 1: The Garden**

*MARILYN and HECTOR stroll through a moonlit garden, hand in hand.*

**MARILYN:**

In thee, I find a joy that words can't speak,

A bond that neither time nor fate can break.

**HECTOR:**

And I, in thee, have found my heart's true home,

A love that guides me through the darkest night.

*They embrace as the moonlight bathes them in a gentle glow.*

**MARILYN:**

(Aside)

A life tumultuous, since childhood wrought,

With loss and longing, yet still hope anew.

For in this man, my heart's desire found,

A tale of love that destiny did weave.

**HECTOR:**

(Aside)

Through schoolyard gates and high school fields of play,

Her face a beacon through the years did shine.

Now fate hath led me to her side once more,

And in her eyes, my future I behold.

*They pause, looking deeply into each other’s eyes.*

**MARILYN:**

Hector, dear, didst thou ever sense the same,

A force unseen that drew our paths as one?

**HECTOR:**

Aye, Marilyn, in every smile and glance,

A whisper of the stars, a lover's chance.

Though time did part us, yet we meet again,

To write a tale that doth defy all pain.

*They sit on a bench, the garden blooming around them.*

**MARILYN:**

In days of youth, I oft did doubt true love,

For life's harsh trials did cloud my heart with fear.

But now, with thee, I see a clearer path,

Where hope and faith shall guide us through the years.

**HECTOR:**

Together, we shall face what comes our way,

For in our union, strength and solace find.

No longer shall we wander, lost and lone,

For in each other’s hearts, our home is known.

*The scene fades as they walk further into the garden, their future bright with promise.*

**MARILYN and HECTOR:**

(Hand in hand, speaking together)

Together, now and ever, hearts as one,

For destiny hath blessed what love begun.

*Exeunt MARILYN and HECTOR, hand in hand, into the night.*

**Curtain falls.**

---

In this extended version, the play explores the deepening emotions and evolving circumstances of Marilyn and Hector's journey from childhood through their teenage years, culminating in their eventual reunion and recognition of their shared destiny.
