Adventure Friendship

*Not related to prompt. Part 4 of Wishing!*

-----------------

I sat up in my sleeping bag and saw some light coming in through somewhere. It's morning. I rubbed my eyes and looked down at my phone, which was right next to me.

“9:30?! We have to get up!” I woke everyone up and was about to wish us up some breakfast when Ella interrupted me.

“Wait, Maddy! Remember? Your mom said you can’t wish yourself out of everything! But in this case, I’ll take some chocolate chip pancakes.” I laughed and wished us all up some pancakes… with syrup! After we ate, we packed up our sleeping bags and they suddenly poofed back home (I had only wish-borrowed them for the night. Yep, that's a thing.)

“Ok, lets split up, Isabelle and Andrew-” I started.

“No. What if something bad happens? We need to stick together!” Ella said as she looked around at us. We all nodded.

“Ella’s right, we need to stay together." Izzy said.

Ella took a picture of the stone, and we were on our way. “So, basically, we need to find four gems?” Izzy asked.

“It’s not that simple.” I replied. Ella looked at me. Be nice. She mouthed.

“The stone said we had to complete tasks to get each gem. And my mom told me something about the gems having to match us or something? I don’t know what that means.”

“I don’t know either. I guess we’ll find out. Look!” I said as she pointed up. I looked up and saw a large wall of stone. It looked natural, except for a small hole with a glowing stone that appeared to be on fire.

“Is- is that stone on fire?!” Izzy asked.

“Yeah.” I responded.

“Four gems to find. Defeat a task, and you’ll get your treasure. Put them together, hope there’s good weather!” I heard Ella mutter. “We need to do something to get the gem!”

“Um, because we didn't already know?" I muttered.

"We have to do something to get the gem?” Izzy asked.

"OBVIOUSLY!" I clutched my phone in anger, without showing... well, anger.

“Uh-huh. I just don’t know what....” Ella trailed off in her thought. “We have to...fire...water…” She murmured. I could tell she was thinking hard. “Oh! Now I know! We have to put the fire out on the gem!” She finally said.

“Easy peasy!” Andrew said. “Anyone have any water?” He asked as he looked around.

“There’s some in our water bottles.” Izzy reminded him. Andrew unscrewed the cap of his water and tried to get it up to the stone. It didn’t work. Ella thought for a second then came up with a good plan.

“Andrew, give me the water, I have an idea.” Ella said. So Andrew handed El the water and she shifted it into a bow and arrow.

“How is that going to work?” Andrew asked.

“Just watch.”

I snorted, trying to hold back the laughter of Andrew’s failed attempt. Ella fired the arrow and it hit the gem instantly putting the fire out. I could tell she was holding back her laughter as well. As we were giggling at Andrew, the gem suddenly started to glow an ocean colored teal as it floated down to Ella with water swirling around it.

“El, I think that’s your gem!” I exclaimed.
