GAME OF DEATH (THE ADVENTURE NEVER DOES END)

"Please may I see your invitation miss",the bodyguard at the gate of the mansion

,called out by knocking at my car door.I held out my invitation for the check process."Please

may i know your name" he enquired."Alena Shaw",i responded.He began to check my name

in a long list of guests while i looked out at the garage.The garage looked more like a luxury

car showroom.No wonder i had got enrolled in a elite college but it mostly consisted of

stinking rich students. Meanwhile, the bodyguard broke my trance and asked me to go

inside and park the car in the garage.As I finished parking my car in the right spot,i felt even

my new car looked shabby admist the porsche and BMW's.

I,Alena Shaw had recently got enrolled in the Christ International College.Though

my education has been through elite schools only,we didn't have a very good financial

position as much as other students. I felt very lucky to get into the very best college though i

was tensed at being the great weirdo at school.Yet when i shifted at the great college hostel,

i was shy and didn't speak a lot.However,at the freshers party,everyone appreciated my

singing.Hence,i was admired both by guys and girls which was unique as students who were

of my genre were objects of bullies by these elite students .In this way i had got a invitation

for the Halloween party which was thrown by Rachel,the richest girl of our school.I had worn

a slit gown of around 750$ for this party because i know my holey tees and faded jeans

won't be too acceptable in this party however comfy it would be for me.

I walk on towards the belgian gates which was opened by two servants in

uniforms.They checked my invitation again which gave me a feeling of attending a celebrity

party.I smirked to myself. As i walked towards the ball room,i got a feeling of royal ball as we

had a dress code to attend this party but also because the walls were adorned with aesthetic

paintings. As i pushed the ballroom door,I gasped with shock as to why the room was

dark.As I moved inside,the front doors closed with a bang.Suddenly the table in front of me

lit up with candles. I walked forward , and a man came up introducing himself as the director

of Christ international college. I shook my hands with him and he directed me towards my

chair.As i sat on my chair ,i saw Jake Stephens,just opposite to me.Jake gave me a wide

smile and i smiled back.Jake Stephens is the most popular guy at school and he has asked

me to the school prom.I also like his humorous personality a lot though i am gonna never

admit it.Just then ,I feel Rachel tap my shoulder and i turn left with a sigh of relief. I ask

Rachel about why we were wearing gowns in a dark room.She Was just about to reply then

suddenly we were interrupted by the director,Mr.Amigo.

Mr.Amigo said "I have handpicked all of you to play a special game all capable

freshers play at the age of 18.It would strengthen your bond and get you a partner too.You

would get divided in groups of two and have to solve three levels each.One who wins

first,gets freed first ".He smirked maliciously.Suddenly there was a rumbling and I could feel

myself gliding down a slide. After what felt like a minute,i landed heavily on what felt like a

hard sculpture. When i looked down,i squealed and jumped upwards to have landed upon

Jake.Jake didn't seem to mind though but i felt angry at the idea of getting trapped with

him.Suddenly i feel a tug at my hand and found that both of our hands were cuffed together.

I tug hard but then i hear a voice telling "you have to solve all the levels to get your hands

freed ".I sigh to myself at the stupidity of accepting the invitation. Jake on reading my mind

said"Do you want to be tied forever or rather play the game and win?I don't mind either."I gave him a sarcastic glance but realized had no other option. I do love adventure and was

eager about this game.

As both of us walk forward, we find a door titled number 1 and Jake pushes the

door.The door opens to reveal a room laden with goods.As we look around the room,i find a

scroll lying down and read it aloud.

"Don’t frown at me, I made it clear. Won’t make a difference if you’re near. Just stand in

front and I’ll show you exactly how the world will know you."

Jake retorted by saying"This scroll is giving me a frown .What the hell does it

mean?"I told him to think about it closely.Jake asked,"Did you frown at the scroll too" stiffling

a laugh. I tried to think ,then Jake said that we show our true selves not to anyone but

ourselves. Suddenly, I understood what the riddle must mean.I told Jake"We stand in front of

a mirror and frown at it.The mirror shows who we really are. THAT'S IT.THE ANSWER IS A

MIRROR "I ask Jake to look for a mirror .We soon found a tiny mirror attached to the carpet.

Jake tugged at the mirror,revealing two swords .He picked it up and another door opened jst

beneath us.

Jake took a deep breath and went inside first.Later he held out his hand for me

to come inside As i went through the under door, i felt myself in a marine island. We were

submerged in a sea.Jake asked me to keep the swords at ready.We both swam and

reached the shore soon. Suddenly both Jake and I were surrounded by black cloaked

creatures. As they tried ti advance on us,Jake hit one if them through ,although nothing

happened. I also tried hitting them but nothing happened. They advanced on us with their

fangs,ready to feast on us.This is the end i felt.Suddenly as the creatures advanced towards

me,Jake pulled out his lighter and the creatures advanced away from him."They are scared

of light,get a stick"Jake exclaimed.I ran to get a dry stick,Jake lit it up and advanced towards

the creatures and they moved away."Well that was smart"I complimented Jake.

As we moved through the jungle, the swords were useful for removing the

branches.We even brike our cuffs through the help of the sword.Then suddenly we could

see a clearing in the midst of the forest.When we came to the clearing, we could hardly

believe our eyes.It was a actual mermaid playing a lyre.She was singing a song and i tried to

make out the words.Behind her,i could see three paths.Jake said "one of those three paths

will lead us to the third level."The mermaid smiled and said"You are the first to reach

here.Yes you have to choose the right path.I will tell you a riddle if you accept my challenge.

If you tell the answer,i will tell you the way.Other wise i will kill you."I asked her to tell the

riddle.The mermaid smiled and said,

"Looks like water,

But it's heat.

Sits on sand,

Lays on concrete.

People have been known,

To follow it everywhere.

But it gets them no place,

And all they can do is stare."

On hearing this,Jake and i were baffled.The mermaid said that the quiz was

related to the paths behind her.I took a glance and saw the roads were yellow,brown and

other other road was of stones.Jake said"We have the riddle but not the answer"I though

what is it that looks like water but is heat.Just then I ask the mermaid whether she was real

or a mirage.As i said this i understood the riddle.Jake screamed out a lot and hugged me tight.That's it.THE ANSWER IS A MIRAGE.The mermaid smiled and made a way for us to

go to the right path,the yellow path,the desert.

As we advanced to the path,we came across a door which was titled the final

door.As we went inside the door closed with a bang and flaming torches lit up the area.It was

a giant board game.Jake said,"look it's snake and ladders."Well the final task is easy ,I said

to myself .Suddenly a writing lit up on the wall

Beware of snakes,

While the stairs helps,

Beware of 17,33,59,71,87

To keep your love's blood level same,

Avoid 15,27,35,79,81and 99

To avoid losing your life line.

" That's a weird line,isn't it"Jake said.Even i felt uneasy at the look on his

face.Suddenly a dice appeared on the midst of the board and began to spin.As we advanced

on to the game,I reached 17 a unexpected twist came in the game. Suddenly a gash came

in Jake's cheek.He gasped with pain.I noticed that i was standing on the part circled by a

snake.At the moment i understood that the game meant that standing on wrong numbers

meant losing the life of the person we love. Jake looked towards me with love in his eyes.I

understood that he has also got the meaning of the story.Yet i understood his emotions

too,when he stood on 71 and i got a long cut on my ankles.However we were happy that

soon we would be free.However when the dice rolled and gave a double six,Jake got a

ladder and reached 97,Jake looked towards me with fear in his eyes.Even i was scared.I

advanced 5 more steps with my turn and landed up on a snake and Jake got a huge cut on

his forhead.I looked towards Jake and said,"Jake,I.."Jake said,"I know.You need not say

anything. You are a great student and a awesome friend.Thanks to your wit, we have come

to the end of this game .We will win it.I know that.Then will you go to the prom with me?" My

eyes were moist at his emotions for me .Just then the dice stopped.IT WAS 2.Jake looked

towards me in horror.There was a snake in the house of 99.The snake grew larger until it

was bigger than a basilisk.It advanced towards me and struck me in my arm.Jake's shout of

death was the last thing i remembered.

"Alena??Alena" I suddenly broke from my trance to find Mr.Amigo,the director of

college sit down.Rachel said,"Don't dream now.Concentrate",she said stiffling a laugh.Just

then Mr.Amigo said "I have handpicked all of you to play a special game I had played at"

Was i dreaming or was that a vision i was thinking to myself in horror "have to solve three

levels each.One who wins first,gets freed first ".He smirked malciously.It was too

late.Suddenly…………….
