This whole quarantine thing made me resort to the extremes of my bucket lists just to quench my boredom. Living alone in a 350$ apartment didn't help at all. I had a pretty long list and for me to be able to check more than half of them in just a month, that's insane.
I still have around 50 items left unchecked, and I really hope that it will last me for the rest of the isolation period.
After gobbling down the last bite from my stale bread which I called breakfast, I delivered my dishes to the sink and washed them immediately.
As I finished the chore, I went to my desk where my notebook was resting. It had my list of what I wanted to do this year and seeing half of them ticked off four months in the year was new to me. I usually assign a certain number of tasks I would accomplish in a month, yet I can't stop myself from doing more because most of them are done indoors, and when would be the best time to do it but now?
Glancing at the bundled sheets of paper, my eyes wandered until they landed on the first unchecked box it could find.
Dress up and do a photo shoot by the balcony.
That's a nice way to boost my self-confidence.
Without wasting a second, I walked to my room and tried to match up whatever clothes I had to make a decent outfit. I'm a fashion terrorist, or so my friends called me. So to make it simple, I put on my go-to denim shorts and a band tee that I always feel good in wearing.
I placed my ring light in front of the camera on a tripod, and made them all face my blank wall. I love taking Instagram photos there because I didn't need to edit the background anymore because it's good just as it is.
I snapped a number of photos and stopped when I was satisfied. I'm going to edit them later before posting. Now, I was going to get another task off my list.
Clear out the bathroom and clean EVERYTHING.
Well, ain't that a productive activity.
This was going to be a long day so I stood up and headed to the bathroom. It wasn't that dirty but it sure was messy. I started bringing out my hair and skin products, all the movable furniture, toilet paper stocks, until all that's left was the mirror, sink, toilet, shower and the small tub. Before I could get my hands on any of those, I first went ahead and cleaned all the containers that I moved outside so that I no longer have to stain the room after cleaning it.
After spending an hour and a half outside, I finally came to the bathroom and began cleaning by scrubbing the tub. It wasn't really that dirty since I only soak around 2 times a week. When I was done, I cleaned the shower by leaving it in a mixture that's supposed to take molds off it that I found from a video online. Then, I scrubbed the toilet and the small water storage behind it and did the sink justice as well.
I proceeded to cleaning the mirror afterwards. I only needed to wipe it after spraying some glass cleaning-spray so it barely required a sweat to be done.
After 4 hours of endless scrubbing, I was done!
Or so I thought. The molds in between my bathroom tiles waved at me, not letting me take a break. I went outside to grab an old toothbrush and crouched down and decided to polish my floor tile by tile. Looks like I can only tick one off the list today.
I wasn't the type to be always cleaning, but when I do, I get very meticulous about it. That's why I can't leave this fifth tile in the 3rd to the last row. The molds are almost as hard as my head! It was understandable since I haven't cleaning ever since two weeks after moving in.
I don't know how long it has already been, but I was finally on the last tile. I decided to take a water break since I thought I really deserve it after all the sweat that left my body.
As I gulped down the last bit of water from my glass, I went back to my bathroom to clean that final tile. I brushed the edges and made sure that the grout was still as good as new. To finish it off, I grabbed my polish and sprayed it on the tile's surface and swiped my rag across it. I felt and heard the tile move. This must've been a faulty tile. Before I could think, my hand pulled the tile out and saw that there was some sort of painting beneath the tile. It was some kind of button.
I pushed the tile back to its place and a sudden quake struck. I live in a country where quakes often happen, so not panicking during one is a skill I developed over the years.
When I was satisfied by the sparkle that my bathroom omitted, I took a breath of relief and stood up to stretch my body. I think it took me around 7 hours just to clean my whole bathroom.
"Ah, I look like a mess," I said to myself as I stared at the mirror. Sweat was covering my entire being and it even soaked my Pikachu t-shirt too.
"I stink too. I need to take a bath already," I groaned as I turned on the faucet to fill the tub. While waiting for it to fill up, I brought in the things I brought out earlier. I got a bath bomb and threw it in the water and went in after taking my clothes off.
It was a relaxing 30-minute bath. I wanted to stay longer but I was getting hungry. However, I remembered I had no food available in my fridge so I had to run to the supermarket and fill up my storage. The store would close in 2 hours that's why I had to leave my leisure early.
I changed into the first things I could grab from my drawer, then went and got my wallet and keys. I got out of my house and locked it from the outside. After double-checking, I turned around to see a strange scenery.
This isn't the view from my apartment. Isn't that the Hokage Stone Faces from Naruto? What the hell happened?!
Out of panic, I ran back inside my house, but to my surprise, it wasn't my house anymore.
"Where am I?!"

Nice work, here! Funny, relatable, and chock-full of precious little details that really bring your character to life. It’s all capped off with an ending that had me laughing out loud. As for suggestions, I think the main thing is that I would’ve liked to see a bit more after where you ended. Essentially, my question is, “How does the protagonist being taken to another world relate to the rest of the story?” Thanks for sharing with us:)

I see. I thought I wasn't too secretive with the details. This means so much. Thank you!

I really enjoyed your writing and style! I enjoyed the detail work. If I would change anything, I would say work on building up suspense in the beginning or hook your readers up front so they keep reading, even if the whole story is about cleaning a bathroom.

Thank you so much. I will keep that in mind!
