My story is entitled Ryan struggling to learn to the skill of reading and writing that does not come easily and naturally to him. This story is based on a true life experience of a relative called Ryan. Ryan was a High School student of Lincoln Community School in the United States of America a land of opportunity and plenty. This relative of mine although was in school used to struggle alot in the skill of Reading and Writing. Ryan was noted to be outspoken and good in his communication skills so the aspect of speaking in communication comes naturally to him. This is because Speaking is natural. The aspect of Reading and Writing does not come naturally to him, he often than not struggles in his Academics and he is being awarded with awful grades in both Reading and Creative Writing . However, although Speaking is natural, both Reading and Writing are not natural due to this students often struggle a lot in the aspect of reading and writing. Students hardly learn to write and read comprehension passages or story books. These students struggle in learning this skill because it does not come naturally to them ,they experience the difficulty in Reading and Writing. Also in order for Ryan to overcome the habit of struggling to learn this new skill of Reading and Writing in his school, he needs to develop the following skills. Ryan needs to develop the following skills to help him in his Academics . He needs to develop reading and writing skills that helps to close academic literacy gaps. Again, he also needs to personalize learning path and offer the right level of scaffolding. He can also personalize learning path by using Adoptive Technology that will help students to learn at their own pace and their learning path. In addition , Ryan needs to provide systematic and cumulative instruction by engaging in multisensory activities. However a Research and study by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation reveals that teachers should personalize their learning experience based on students unique needs and assessment data. As noted the ability to either read and write does not come easily from immediate experiences. Among the seven essential skills needed by students and children that helps them not to struggle includes Perspective Taking, Communication as it occurs in some students, Making connection in the habit of socializing , critical thinking, Taking on Challenges due to the risk involved and an engaged learning attitude. Students also struggle to learn life skills which does not come easily to them. Life skills is defined as an executive function that brings together social, emotional and cognitive capacities to problem solve and achieve goals for success. . Also studies shows that life skills are always critical to success in life. Students and children need life skills in order to achieve his goals. A struggling learner like Ryan is someone who has to work harder than others around him either in the classroom setting or the lecture room in order to accomplish the task and learn something new. In addition a struggling learner like Ryan may be a year or more behind grade level in one area or the other. The skill of reading is not natural, likewise the skill of speaking which is observed to be natural. Students and learners who struggle in learning a skill can be helped in the following ways. They can be taught Social Skills especially to the child or student who struggles to learn. Social Skills are often overlooked in our society. Again emphasis is only placed on maths, reading ,test taking and the interaction of children. Also Social Skills are the inherent that children will normally learn like learning to walk or learning to talk. However, teaching social skills are the inherent skills that children will naturally learn like learning to walk or learning to talk. In addition teaching social skills is extremely important in the growth and development of young children. Teaching social skills does not come easily, it is a skill that does not come naturally to them. A child or student may need social skills to excel in life. However a child minimal social skills finds things difficult and things does not come naturally to him. Also there are instances that the child or students feels isolated and struggles to learn. In addition to solve this problem the child or student must be educated in Schools or Colleges. Also find resources that will also be helpful to the child or student. The use of puzzle must be used in teaching the child social skills. It should be noted that struggling students who can not learn should be helped. The use of the Adoptive Technology should be used by all students to work on their own learning path or their own pace for them to excel Academically. The offering of the right level of scaffolding must be used at the right time. It is noted that Scaffolding refers to the instruction techniques used to move students towards a stronger understanding and greater independence in the learning process. Also students must provide a systematic and cumulative instruction . The systematic learning plan helps students to learn and know approximately their progress in the aspect of Academics. In addition , struggling readers must have and seek instruction that is systematic and also term to be cumulative. Also it is by the practice of newly acquired skills like reading and writing that Ryan can be able to address issues of retention and overcome the barrier of struggling to learn a new skill that does not come naturally to him. Likewise in the aspect of speaking that comes naturally to Ryan, both Reading and Writing does not come naturally to him at all in the aspect of his Academics. Students and other children must engage in multisensory Activities in order to increase their vocabulary in the aspect of reading. In addition, it is noted that Multisensory teaching is always effective for learners it is beneficial to students who seek to struggle to learn to read as a skill. Also Multisensory activities allows students to experience a concept. Students and individuals must engage in strategies and activities that may incorporate all of senses to help these students understand information in ways that works better for them. Again at home resources must be provided for parents to help their children to learn a skill easily without struggling. Parents must be involved in a struggling child's learning difficulty like Ryan to make a world of difference. There should be some reinforcement in the newly learned skills at home. The child or students learning must be extended to overcome the barrier of struggling in learning. Parents must also inculcate in their children the good habit of reading by making at home reading fun. Parents including both mum and Dad must read a book aloud to the child or student. Again parents and teachers must motivate and reward the success of the child in the aspect of Academics. However when students or children struggle their motivation and engagement level seeks to dwindle . Finally, I will like to conclude that for children and students to stop the struggle of learning a skill that does not come naturally to them, their parents or teachers must reinforce progress and celebrate success in the aspect of Academics. Parents and teachers must track progress themselves in the aspect of Academics. The habit of reading is inculcated in the child or student because it is a key aspect of classroom subjects. Also it is always imperative to help students and children who struggle with Reading and Writing as a skill.

Well done Prince. I know nothing about teaching, but I did read the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation research about teachers personalizing their teaching according to student's assessments. I think you've done well balancing a story with the foundation's research and study's findings. It should be coupled with the foundation's study. Again, well done.
