Romance Thriller Horror

Kennedy watched in surprise as he walked by. It had only been 4 years, but it felt like a million.

Kennedy had been obsessed with this boy ever since that day at Comic Con when he signed his number on the back of her shirt. He'd given her a smirk and a wink before walking away.

Her heart had soared and her thoughts had been so preoccupied by his intoxicating scent that she'd almost forgotten why she'd come to Comic Con at all.

That was, until they called out her name and she hugged Dylan Sprayberry. The smell of the mystery boy's lavender cologne faded from her mind.

When he never responded to her texts, she assumed he'd played her. Kennedy had gone home feeling like an idiot. She'd met her idols that she'd loved since she was 8, why was she hung up over some random boy she spoke to once?

She'd forgotten exactly why that was, but when his familiar hazel eyes flitted to her, for a split second she remembered the butterflies, the adrenaline and the sensation of her pulse soaring. She remembered.

It felt as if fate was working its magic, and Kennedy had never been one to shun fate. It was her outlet, in an inexplicable way.

"Hey! Hey, you!" She felt the gaze of a thousand strangers bore into her as she called out. Her cheeks reddened and a bashful smile made its way to her lips. They wouldn't understand. She had to talk to him, meet him.

When he didn't hear her, Kennedy found herself running towards him without a second thought. His pace must've quickened, because no matter how fast she ran, she couldn't catch up with him.

She couldn't understand it, but she pushed the thought to the back of her mind, and focused on keeping him in sight.

The scent of freshly cut grass and lavender filled her senses, overwhelming her with nostalgia. She knew this scent. It only spurred her on as she tore through the shopping centre, strangers bumping into her and slowing her sprint.

It suddenly felt as if fate were working against her. She couldn't keep up with the boy, and only the scent of lavender could guide her, she'd lost sight of him.. wait, when was the last time she'd seen him?

Kennedy stopped short as she tried to work out how long she'd been following the scent for. She never worked it out, for another wave of the sweet scent washed over her like a fuzzy blanket and she lost focuse of anything but the boy she had to see so dearly. All she could think of was to follow the smell.

Past Next, Primark, H&M, and out of the centre entirely. The scent dropped, and she couldn't remember how she'd gotten here.

"How..?" She mumbled out loud, searching the paths for a clue of why she'd been so desperate to be here. Street after street, she couldn't understand. Why had she left the centre? Why couldn't she remember anything? Why hadn't she phoned home by now?

She didn't care, whatever thought she'd had to make her scour the streets must've been important.

She found herself entering what people called the 'dark side' of town. Little girls had been led here by some.. smell.. and never returned. Not a trace of their existence had been left. It had left the police confused for years.

A dark alley enticed her, her mind told her no, but as if it were magic, she smelt the scent of lavender overwhelm her senses and she couldn't think of anything but the mystery boy and how it would feel to be in his arms.

She desperately wanted to see him and talk to him; make up for the years they'd been apart.

The scent beckoned her into the alley, and like a moth to a flame, she couldn't resist. Kennedy walked into the dark, seeing a silhouette dimly lit by the fading light of a street lamp. "Hey, Kennedy right?" A smooth British accent spoke out, and Kennedy felt at ease.

Her muscles relaxed, something about the boy was familiar, like she'd known him since birth. Ordinarily she'd have been skeptical of this thought- heck, she probably wouldn't have even been here normally - but the thought evaporated from her mind into thin air. So did any of her last warning thoughts.

"Yeah." She felt dreamy, floating free. She liked this feeling, she didn't want to escape it. She wanted to stay wrapped up in its warmth forever.

"It's taken you so long to find me. Do you still remember me, or anything else?" The allure of his voice, and the lavender smell, Kennedy couldn't resist letting it all go.

She loved the feeling. She was safe, nothing could hurt her here. In the cocoon of warmth and relaxation. It just felt too nice. How could she resist such a perfect feeling? Why should she want to escape?

"No, no I don't. I just wanted to ask.. ask if you wanted to go out sometime?" She should've been worried, but the boy's voice relaxed her and she felt safe. He'd never let her come to any harm.

A smirk made its way onto the boy's lips. She really was succumbing.

"Perfect, you're prepped. Mr Black will love this." Kennedy felt all awareness slip away from her, and all she wanted was to be with the British boy forever. Her mind rose into the clouds, showing her dreams of growing old with the boy. All she could see was him.

Her thoughts, her mind, all gone. She was under the spell, just like all the other girls. Succumbed to brilliant allure of the boy's hypnosis.

It worked every time.

He'd never get bored of the rush he felt when his victim finally fell into the trance and they lost any awareness that remained. He loved the way they looked, so defenceless, so helpless. It made him feel powerful.

His favourite part was that he'd never be caught.

The boy watched as Kennedy's eyes glossed over, thrilled his plan had worked. She couldn't escape now. She wouldn't remember.
