As Allison tilted her dazed head slightly up towards the brilliant blues and greens of the open sky she was faced again with the same pair of gorgeous blue eyes, beaming in the daylight, staring straight into her soul. She had thought she was hallucinating but then a shivering sensation stole a path from her clunky feet up her chilled back and plunged itself into her heart. Snapping back into reality she realised if she did not attempt a reply and fast this wonderful moment could mutate promptly into just another awkward encounter.
“So…is that a yes?” Tony repeated with the same concerned almost nervous tone in his perfect voice. Without understanding quite what was happening Allison found her head moving up and down at its own accord in a nodding action. Too stunned for words she had hoped that this was enough of a response to satisfy him. “Great, I’ll pick you up at 8!” a grin grew from his handsome lips as he turned around leaving her both startled and extremely apprehensive. A strong sense of embarrassment snuck itself into her brain accompanied by a question spiralling in large vigorous circles, why her?
As Allison mulled over this moment in her head Tony suffered from the newly bestowed feeling of intense guilt. Much to his surprise and horror a conscience lodged itself into his brain, a sense of wrongdoing and regret. Not used to this feeling he was unsure of how to react. He had known that it was wrong to use somebody for a joke but this felt different. Wrong. Unlike all the other girls he had used for a laugh with his school mates Allison, although completely weird and geeky, was innocent. His intentions of this “date” were to get her all dressed up and never show. In other words stand her up, as if someone of his popularity would even consider such a girl. Laying on his muscular back he evaluated this thought for almost 2 hours before coming to the conclusion that he would not show up. Less than a minute later he found himself tying his blue and white silk tie around his neck and getting ready. This was it, he was going. Sliding into his father’s black convertible car Tony drove to his social death.
Allison’s hair was plainly not made for these occasions. Panicking at the clock she silently screamed begging the hands to just stay still and let her catch up with it. Time was escaping her and her futile attempts at plaiting were simply not working. With less than 20 minutes until Tony was arriving she wanted to hide, she wanted to crawl under her blankets to safety and pretend this night never happened. This was not how she had expected getting dressed up would be like. Pushing out her frustration with one excessive exhale she pulled herself together and forced against all odds this malicious brush through her newly conditioned auburn locks. Finally, after a long-deserved triumph against the brush Alison slipped on her sister’s deep purple laced dress. Although the rather large slit on the leg revealed much more skin than her previous intentions she had run out of time for this argument.
A ringing echoed through the modest house. Nerves, excitement, fear were only a few of the emotions propelling around in Allison’s stomach. He was here. For Tony however, he was not expecting much and the only feeling generating in his mind was the continuous regret of showing up. Opening the door Alison noticed Tony’s eyes open a little wider, he was astonished. He had never imagined that she could look remotely attractive to him but now, now she was beautiful. A stone seemed to appear out of nowhere in front of him and in an attempt to approach her his left foot stumbled over it and nearly resulted in the most embarrassing of falls. As he guided her to the car the silence in the air made them both a little uneasy.
Wind was pounding past them and Allison cursed the idea of why people had thought it stylish to not have a roof on a car, it was merely practical to her. The sun began to shrink and with it the safety of day, the night was approaching accompanied by the exciting promises of the unknown. In a general attempt to break the silence Allison asked where he was taking her. To this he gratefully replied with the name of a chique sounding restaurant which she has never heard of, but she dared not admit that. After a little more than ten miles of small talk they arrived to the place with a shared sense of relief. A gentle woman’s voice surrounded the building singing the most charming opera luring them inside. As they took their seats surprisingly to Tony their conversations began to become of increasing interest to him. He told her all about his love for the opera and she of her complete and utter devotion to the arts. Minutes dissolved into hours and later that night Tony found himself astonished by how much he felt himself liking this girl. He was smitten. An incandescent smirk refused to withdraw from his face that night. Reminiscing over every detail of Allison that night he wrestled with great might the overwhelming desire to confess his new devotion for her.
However, in this particular case another side of the night's affairs must be exposed. Allison traipsed to her room that evening with only the bitter and surprising emotion of disappointment. She realised that night one important fact. Looks unfortunately cannot make up for everything, in this case Tony’s ego which was comparable to the size of Jupiter in Allison’s opinion. Thinking about how all night she struggled to articulate a short sentence over his continuous bragging she sighed in relief that she was home at last. Laying in bed that curious night Allison gazed with youthful ambition to the stars and searched them for some new constellation to soothe her mind and send her to a welcoming sleep. Tomorrow she would break the news to him this could certainly not go on. Despite this a very different tomorrow was playing in Tony’s mind. Two very unexpected people and one very unexpected outcome.

Great story! I loved watching both of the characters develop and change their opinions.
