I’d been planning the perfect vacation for a week last year and was so excited about it. Unfortunately, the lockdown happened and the plan got fruitless. That was the time to stay at home and away from run-of-the-mill life. I was happy to have the peaceful environment, the freshness in the air, and the chirping of birds around my home. I made myself more engaged in activities like reading books, meditating, cycling, and listening to soft music during the lockdown.
After a month when the unlock process started, my company offered me the opportunity to visit Nashik, Maharashtra to meet with the importer/exporter of grapes for business purposes. I landed in Nashik, my friend came to pick me from the airport, he took me to exporters and packhouses where tons of grapes were in the process of packaging to export from India to Europe and the Middle East. There were more than 20 varieties of grapes - Thompson, Flame, Crimson, etc. I tasted each. Next day I travelled 10 km away from Nashik, wherever I was looking were grapes farms everywhere, I took many pictures and then I got the chance to speak with Farmers. They were busy in harvesting the grapes, as the season was going on. They were harvesting and supplling to exporters and likewise whole supply chain works. One day I was on a meet with an exporter at 6 pm, that was the nightmare for all the
grapes farmers and exporters, heavy rain happened and crops got damaged. Farmers were crying as they couldn't get the expected price because the quality of the grapes got degraded. Grape season starts from the month of December and Ends in April but due to rain season got ended early.
Then after a few days of work, I and my friends planned to visit vineyards, Sula is one of the popular brand across the world and having their vineyards at dindori village at Nashik, where winemaking and tasting attracts the people from india and abroad to visit the place.
Sula Vineyard was only 7 km away from where we were staying. We rented a car and reached there by 5 pm and when we entered Sula that I was wondering to see the beauty and the crowd of the place, that was such an awesome place to hangout. There was a sitting area at the rooftop, dining tables and music, and the bartenders were serving the wine to each table and the view was amazing, I was able to see the vineyard by sitting there. Me and my friends ordered a bottle of post harvest wine at first with snacks. We started drinking the wine slowly by taking the feel in each sip and then we ordered one more bottle with a different variety now. That was such an awesome day of my life, I never had wine in such a beautiful place.
Then we visited the plant of wine and tasted 6 different varieties of wine there. I wish I could go there again with my other friends soon.
After 2 weeks, I was alone there. My friends already returned to delhi. I was also planning to return back but someone told me Shirdi is near the nashik only 100 km away. It's only a 2 hours journey from here, So I made my mind to go and visit the Shirdi before leaving Nashik. In the evening I got the chance to meet with Sai Baba. And then the next day I returned to delhi.
