Finding A Pixie Way Down In Dixie

Once upon a time in a really huge metropolice called Danville, Va., there lived a 12 year-old boy named Fred who was constantly getting in various kinds of trouble. He was a really nice guy, except he continually made bad decisions for his life. When his mom told him to take out the trash he had mostly girls on his mind so he took out the trash to go see a movie which he didn't enjoy anyway. When his daddy said, "go cut the crass," he ended up making a line that went all the way across the yard to divide it in half. When they would ask him if he had straightned up his room, he said, "Why? Is it tilted?" The problem was that he was quite serious about his responses, although his parents thought he was just being facetious. It wasn't his fault that he didn't understand, since they didn't make their directions clear enough for him to follow.

He had the same kind of problems in school. His history teacher asked him where the Battle Of Yorktown was fought and he replied, "Outside." Naturally, he didn't pass.

Some people thought he was being sarcastic on purpose, but the fact was he really didn't know any better which was causing him a lot of grief. Even his friends would ask him to do things, but he took what they said literally and would always end up upsetting them so needless to say, it wasn't long before even they wouldn't have anything to do with him. It wasn't his fault, that was the saddest part about it. He was trying to follow directions accurately.

Then one day he realized that he didn't have anybody who was eager to spend some time with him. That made fr a really lonesome way of life for a young teenage boy.

That night while he laid in bed wondering how to improve his life somewhat, an angel appeared in his room. He startled him because of the fact he just was not used to having people appear in his room after bedtime. Although, he just laid there waiting for her to speak which would be comforting to him, but she fluttered in mid air over him.

Finally she said, "So, Fred, I see you've been having some problems getting along with people in your life."

All Fred could do was just nod as the angel continued talking to him. "Don't be afraid of me, I won't hurt you. Now, I just want to help you somewhat, Fred. I'm your angel. You can, 'just call me angel of the morning, baby.' "

Now, the fact that the angelic creature who was talking to him already knew his name was a major thing in his opinion. He wondered what else that little hovering figure knew about him. Apparently it had to be quite a lot though.

Since Fred was at the age where he believed just about everything he heard, having an angel right there seemed pretty cool. "Okay," he said, "What can you do for me? Are you going to grant me 3 wishes or something like that?"

"No," said the angel, "I'm going to give you, oh geese! You already know about that, huh? Well, anyway, you just saved me some wasted breath. Of course you must also know there are some things I cannot do for you, but what-ever you want, just ask me. You're a lot smaller then my last master. Just wish for a sailboat and I can really be your, 'mast' -er. Now, that was a pun, son. Get it?"

The angel nudged Fred because he wasn't expecting a comic to be in front of him. It took several seconds for it to register that the angel was also a punster. "Oh, great!" said Fred to himself while shaking head, "There are over 20,000 comedians out of work and I have to get stuck with one of them! Oh, Allah! What have You done to me?"

"Hey, for my first wish, I want to be a leader to rule over everybody I come in contact with said Fred with a smile.

"Whatever you say, dear heart," said the angel, she clapped her hands and Fred immediately felt as if he had joy unspeakable and full of glory.

"Wow!" said Fred under his breath, "This woman is for real!" Then he said, "For my next wish I want a special person I've been waiting for my whole life to fall in love with me."

The angel said, "Your wish is my command, sweetie," she clapped her hands and again there was a flash of light. When it cleared there was the most beautiful creature he had ever seen in his life walking up towards him. He was so utterly overjoyed with the genie's 2 magical happenings that he wanted to save his third wish for later. The angel told him that was fine with her and with a smile, she disappeared in a big puff of smoke, leaving Fred with the girl.

"Well, what do you say, cutie?" said the gorgeous-looking goddess who was just standing there smiling at him, beckoning for him to come closer, "Do you want to get married or what? Don't keep me wait-ing here! A girl can't wait forever for the right guy!"

"Wow!" thought Fred silently to himself, "This is really stupendous! I just wish I'd met this gal several years ago!"

"Remember, you still have another wish," the angel told Fred with a smile, "Make it good! Don't waist it on anything!"

"You've done enough for right now," Fred said happily to the angel who was ready to grant him another request, "I'll take some time to think of something else! Thank you for granting me those other 2 wishes! That was terrific! "I'll let you know when I need anything!"

The girl said, "Come on, cutie, let me show you a good time! I can show you things that no other girl has ever done for you!" Then she extended her arms towards him.

Yet the girl realized how desperate Fred was to have a special-person in his life so she took advantage of it. She had him buy her lots of pretty clothes and beautiful jewelry which glistened in the light. Fred was so overjoyed to have somebody in his life who he could love, and who he thought loved him. As it turned out, he was looking for true love whereas she was looking for somebody who could meet all her needs.

After several weeks of that, Fred realized all she wanted from him was the things his money would buy for her. She had been taking him to the cleaners all that time and he wasn't any cleaner. It soon became apparent that all she wanted from him was the things he could buy her to keep her happy. It became apparent that he was following the wrong person in his search for true love. That's when he finally put his foot down and declared, "Now, look! I have been buying you everything that you want in life, but you have done nothing to return it back to me! That is not how love is supposed to work! If you really love me for who I am, then show it by showing me some real, agape love!"

That caused her mouth to turn from an u shape in to an n shape. In other words, the corners of her lips pointed south instead of north. It was then that Fred realized he had been following the wrong person while looking for that real true love that's unconditional from the person he thought was so gorgeous. That upset her so badly she stomped out of his house and never returned again. Fred didn't need that kind of love which had to be bought, but then he remembered that he still had another wish to go.

That afternoon while Fred was stewing in his house about losing the most beautiful girl's attention he had ever seen in his life, he remembered hearing the old saying, "It's better to have loved and lost then never to love at all," or at least that's what was how the old saying goes. Then again, he thought the same person who said that probably also said, "An apple a day keeps the doctors away." He knew that he could eat an apple each day of his life and still get hurt then have to see a doctor so that saying wasn't any more true then the first one. That really broke his heart.

Poor Fred was so upset about his major heart-break from that so-called, "Miss Right" person he thought was the one for him to follow for a mate. He knew there were plenty of fish in the sea, but his problem was that he was growing older every day and needed to have that kind of intimate relationship with somebody before he needed a walker to get around and didn't have to turn the volume up on his hearing aid in order to hear her say, "I do."

When he went outside to look for a shooting star to make a wish on, since that was supposedly how to get your wish to come true, he heard a beautiful voice behind him say, "Excuse me, I'm looking for the ladies room. Can you please tell me which direction to go in order to finder it?"

When he saw the face on that lovely creature whom the voice belonged to, he said, "Uh, yeah. It's down the hall to the left and you'll be right at it, rather right and you'll be left at it, oh, it's down the hall on the side somewhere." He wanted to find a huge rock and crawl under it for saying those ridiculous words to the angelic-type of creature who had come to ask him for help. He just, "blue" it and he had, "red" the book on the right things to say in order to sound like an intelligent person to somebody you just met.

The pretty girl laughed and said, "You're funny! Humor is my favorite trait in a man! You want to do something this Saturday night with me? We could go out to eat or to a movie since the downtown theater has several good ones that are playing right now. Do you enjoy comedy, action, romance, horror, science fiction, Broadway musicals, westerns, educational, intellectual, biographies, horror, romantic, porno, murder, science fiction, love movies, autobiographies or children's movies most?"

That's when Fred said, "Uh, yeah. That's my favorite kind of movie too. We've got some common interests already."

When their eyes met, immediately they both felt a really strong bonding which had a chemistry come between them that was insurmountable with anything that either of them had ever felt before. After Fred had followed the wrong person when all she wanted was for him to give her things when she wasn't willing to give him anything back they fell in love, dated a while, eventually got married, had several smart and athletic children so like the best-loved children's stories of all-time will officially finish up with,

"THEY ALL LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER!!!!"
