‘The Harper Sisters! This is the library not a fishmarket! Please maintain decorum here!’ Ms Woodward ,the librarian said sternly
‘Sorry Ms Woodward’ says Rose bowing her head down slightly
“Wait why are you saying all these deep words all of a sudden, I was gone for 2 years what the hell happened?!”, Belle asked confused by her sister’s sudden dramatic words.
Rose sighs deeply and says “Let me explain”
*Flashback to the sophomore year of college*
She paced through the roads in her car, already late for the first year back in college. She didn’t know what was in store for her this time around, She parks the car beside a black cadillac.
She hurriedly rushes through the hallways, and barges into the classroom and all of a sudden all the eyes are on her, which causes her to shift uncomfortably in her position
‘Ahh Ms Harper! How nice of you to join us today’ said Professor Fox sarcastically.
To which Rose just sheepishly smiled and then she took the last empty seat which was next to a boy who was sleeping with his head in his arms on the desk. The boy, then sleepily gets up wondering who the beautiful girl is sitting next to him. A brunette with blue eyes, a girl wearing a yellow sundress with flowers and her hair in a matching bandana. All in all a true piece of beauty.
The boy, a handsome young man with emerald green eyes, He is wearing black jeans with a white t-shirt and a leather jacket around him, his brown hair ruffled but making him look as charming and handsome as ever. Nothing like Rose’s ever met before.
She broke the silence by savagely saying ‘‘Take a picture it’ll last longer, creep!’’
‘‘I wasn’t staring!’ He denies the comment immediately but a slight pink hue rose to his cheeks.
‘Sure.’ she says with a slight smirk on her face.
She turned her attention back to the teacher but Grey couldn’t stop staring at her.
The fact that she was one of the most beautiful woman he had ever seen was an understatement. This girl was a goddess, and without knowing he had fallen for her since the very first moment he saw her.
*Flashback to the Present moment*
Woah, this guy sounds pretty cute… are you still with him now?’ Belle asks interested.
At those words, tears filled Rose’s eyes
She suddenly had a flashback of everything that had happened the past year. All those memories she made, All those tears she shed, All the people she gained and All the ones she lost on the way.
The past year had been painfully bitter for her, the chaotic rush and the feelings she felt… she wouldn’t have it any other way.
‘No, I’m no more with him’ said Rose
‘Aww… What happened?’ Belle asked
*Flashback*
The three girls were walking through the crowded hallway, chatting and laughing amongst themselves.
‘So how’s ‘Grose’ doing?’ Ava asked wiggling her eyebrows.
‘What the heck is ‘Grose’, Ava’ Kyrah asked confused
‘You know ‘Grose’ Grey+Rose’ Ava said with a ‘wasn’t it obvious face’
‘You seriously couldn’t get a better ship name’
‘Well then you trying finding a ship name with the names Gray and Rose’
‘Okay fine you win’
‘But anyways how are you and Grey doing?’ Ava asked Rose
‘We are doing fine, he is not at all how he seems to be, he is actually really sweet and kind’ a smile lighted up Rose’s face at the thought of him.
‘So have you started dating yet?’ Kyrah asked
‘Guys, we’re just friends and nothing more than that’ Rose said trying to deny what her friends were saying, but deep down even she knew she had caught feelings for the boy, she was just too clueless to realize it.
After talking with her friends for some more time, Rose made her way to the college’s lawn.
She seated herself below the shade of a tree, she opened her bag and searched for her laptop and books, put her earphones on and then immediately got to work.
The paper she was writing for her literature class had her attention completely, that she did not notice the boy in black sneaking up on her, with the intention of scaring her.
‘BOO!’ Grey said
To which she responded with a terrified shrill scream,
‘Oh my god! that scared the hell out of me’ She said still in shock.
‘WHY.WOULD.YOU.DO.THAT’ She said hitting him after every word.
The boy started laughing out loud,
‘Is my pain funny for you, you sadistic person'. She said trying to look angry at him, but failed terribly as she ended up looking adorable.
‘You know you can’t look angry right?’
‘Why not?!’
‘Cos’ you look adorably cute’ Grey said
Rose blushed at his comment.
Grey smiled at her and broke the silence by saying ‘Anyway… I came here to ask you about something’
‘What is it?’ Rose asked back.
‘I wanted to ask you if you wanted to go on a date with me, Its okay if you don-’ Grey was cut off by Rose saying ‘I do’
Grey asked back ‘Really?!’
She said ‘Yup!’ she softly smiled
‘K, great… so see you at 7?’
‘Yeah, 7 is fine’
‘Also, wear something comfortable like pajamas or something, I know you don’t like fancy dates.’
'Sure' she replied
Grey then walked away, whereas Rose ran to her friends
‘Guyss! Guys!!’ Rose screamed
‘What?!’ said Ava and Kyrah together
‘You wont believe what just happened!’ Rose said full of excitement
‘What happened?’ asked Ava
‘Grey asked me out on a date!’ Rose said blushing slightly
‘AHHHHHHHHHHH!!’ screamed Ava
‘Grose is real!’ Ava screamed
‘Ava you’ve really got to find another name, ‘Grose’ is a terrible ship name!’ said Kyrah
‘But girl, I’m soo excited for you.. did he tell anything about the date?’ asked Kyrah
‘Yeah, well he said to wear pajamas cos he knows I don’t like fancy dates and he asked me to be there at his place by 7’ Rose said,
‘Well good luck to you girl! Tell me how it went tomorrow said Kyrah
‘Sure, see you guys tomorrow!’ said Rose
Next Day at college,
‘Rose! Rooseeeeeeee! How did it go?!’ asked Ava excitedly
‘Yeah how did it go?!!’ asked Kyrah
‘Guys! Chill! It was good.’ said Rose
‘What did you guys do?!’ asked Ava in a hyper manner
‘Well we watched a movie under a blanket fort made by him.’ said Rose slightly blushing.
‘Well, which movie did you guys watch? Did you sleep at his house? Did you guys do anything else? Did he drop you back home?!’ asked Ava bombarded Rose with questions.
‘Avaa!! CALM DOWN! I’ll tell you, well watched ‘The Notebook’ I slept at his house with him. Today morning he left me a cup of coffee and plate of pancakes for breakfast and left a note next to it’ said Rose relishing all the fun she had yesterday.
‘Aww! I’m fangirling over you guys now. You guys are soo cute! I ship y’all I’m the official shipper. YAAY!’ screamed Ava
Rose slightly blushed at her comment
Kyrah said ‘Calm down Ava. Your date sounds dope, but what did he write on the note?’
‘Umm.. I have it with me.’ said Rose
‘Show us please!’ said Ava pulling her best puppy face.
Rose opened her bag pulled out the note and handed it to them.
They took the note and read it. The note said:
‘Good Morning Love, Hope you had a good sleep. You were sleeping soundly. Was kinda cute to see you. Well I left for basketball practice, but I left you a cup of coffee and chocolate chip pancakes. The key is next to the pot. I know you don’t have clothes so I left one of my sweatshirts and my sister’s leggings, you can wear that. When you come take the key, lock the door, and hand the key to me when you come to class. Bye❤’
Reading the note made Ava’s and Kyrah heart melt and be a tad bit jealous of Rose.
‘Girl, you are soo lucky! Such a lovely guy… you should go with him more often. Did you give him the key’ said Kyrah
‘Thanks, I was thinking too. All of the rest of my classes are with him, so I’ll give him the key’
‘Speaking of classes, I have bio! I have to go! Byee!’ said Rose as she waved to her friends and went to her class.
As soon as she entered class, she saw Grey sitting in the back she waved and ran up to him and said
‘Hey! Here’s the key!’ said Rose slightly panting
‘Hello! Thanks!’ he said as took the key from here and put it in his bag
She took as seat right next to him and said ‘Thanks for yesterday, it was really fun.’
He replied back ‘My pleasure!
She replied; ‘Also by the way your sweatshirt is really comfy and thanks to your sis for the leggings’
He replied ‘Haha, yeah its pretty big for you but you look like a teddy bear who needs a hug, for the leggings I’ll tell my sister’
‘Yeah well I don’t mind getting a hug’ she said, making her best puppy face.
‘Aww… come here’ he said, opening his arms out for her to climb in.
She gladly accepted it and climbed in, he hugged her tightly and she dug her face into his chest and took a deep breath inhaling his scent.
(Back to the present)
‘This ‘Grey’ guy seems like an angel, and everything seems to have been going fine with the both of you, so what in the world went wrong?’, Belle asked confused but at the same time interested.
Rose almost started crying thinking about it all, but she held those tears back reminding herself to not cry over the person who made her like this.
‘Because…I end up loving the person who hurt me the most’ Rose responded with sadness evident in her face.
Belle looked at her sister with consolation and empathy, while Rose exhaled a shaky breath and then started telling the story of the day it all came crashing down.

Belle looked at her sister with consolation and empathy, while Rose exhaled a shaky breath and then started telling the story of the day it all came crashing down.
*Flashback*
Grey’s POV:
I woke up slightly panting, getting bad dreams of all those bad memories. A few years ago, I was in a relationship with a girl named Amelia, our relationship was out of this world, like nobody could ever break us….but one night, we were coming back from a party and the car swirled and hit into a tree. The last thing I remember was Amelia screaming. The next day I woke up in a room full of lights where my sister was sitting next to me. She told me they could only save me and that Amelia had died.
Ever since that incident I’ve been suffering from PTSD and anger issues. I looked beside me and I saw Rose sleeping soundly next to me. She was soo beautiful.
Oh, no what if I lose her…What if she dies because of me….Maybe I should end this relationship…..This will not work out….I’ll hurt her too….I’m scared of losing her….
I slowly have to push her away then she might not feel sad, and she might leave me willingly and find someone better.
Someone who can treat her like a Queen,
Someone who can give her all the Love she deserves,
Someone who isn’t broken or weak like me,
Someone who isn’t a Monster like me….
(Rose’s POV)
The next morning when I woke up I didn’t see Grey next to me. I went downstairs and I saw him sitting on the couch staring blankly at the walls.
When I came down I said ‘Good Morning’ but he didn’t reply. I went into the kitchen to see if Grey had made anything for breakfast, but I didn’t see anything. So, I walked back into the living room and asked. ‘Hey Babe, didn’t you make anything for breakfast? Do you want go out to eat something?’
Instead he screamed angrily, ‘Well I’m not your maid to make food for you! You are old enough to do some cooking on your own! I’m not your servant!’
Rose replied back ‘Well I didn’t ask you to make it! You usually make it, that’s why I asked and you are not my servant I never treated you like one too!’
Grey just scoffed and walked into the kitchen
Rose mumbled to herself ‘Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed today’.
He heard her mumbling something so he flounced into the living room and started asking her ‘What did you say? Huh?!’
Rose was scared but she didn’t say anything but Grey kept pestering her to respond. ‘Why are you mumbling? Is it because you are not courageous to say it out loud? Huh?!’, He screamed angrily
After all this screaming he started to push Rose to the door but Rose didn’t fight back as she thought maybe if she fought back then he might end up hitting her. He shoved her out of the door, gave her jacket back and closed the door in her face.
To say Rose was hurt was putting it lightly,
Rose felt humiliated, hurt and broken all at once, but she thought that he will be in a better mood tonight cause they were going for a party. So she shrugged off everything Grey said.
She saw a side of Grey, that was a monster of sorts,
She knew he had anger issues but never thought he would go this far especially with her.
The Next Day at the College,
Rose had not spoken to Grey since yesterday’s incident.
She had tried calling and texting him million times, but he had either left her on seen or canceled her calls.
The day at the college was not much different either, the whole day Rose tried to approach Grey, but he either avoided her or acted cold and rude towards her. The last class of the day had just ended and Rose was walking out of her classroom when she saw Grey standing in the hallway talking with his friends,
She once again approached him saying 'Grey can we talk?’
He didn’t scream at her to go away or avoid her existence at also she took that as a sign to continue,
‘Why are you not responding to my calls or texts and just avoiding me in general? Did I do something wrong?…and what was with you raging out on me yesterday?’
‘Just stay away from me for a while, I don’t want your annoying ass around me’, He replied without a second thought.
Rose’s mind went haywire, she couldn’t process what just happened, her eyes welled with tears, but she held them in realizing her pride won’t allow her to cry in front of him.
Rose slowly walked away from him, and when she was far enough from him, silent but bitter tears fell staining her cheeks.
She was walking home when suddenly a heavy shower of rain fell, cursing herself for forgetting to bring an umbrella today, she covered her head with her bag and continued walking.
On the journey home there was only one thought racing in Rose’s mind, Grey... getting lost in her thoughts she didn’t realized that she reached home.
Two weeks Later,
Kyrah and Ava were worried for their best friend, Rose hadn’t been eating, sleeping or doing anything properly. Ever since Grey told her to get lost to her face, she hadn’t been herself.
‘Boo, you have to come to this party you haven’t been doing anything lately, I think this party might help lift your spirts up and also it might get your mind of that jackass.’ Ava said to Rose trying to convince her to come to this party.
‘I’m not in the mood Ava.’ Rose plainly answered.
‘Ro, you have to do something fun, so just because of that jackass your gonna ruin the chance to have fun.’ Kyrah tried telling her.
‘It’s not because of Grey, I’m not going, I just don’t feel like partying today.’ Rose said but they all knew that was a plain and utter lie.
Suddenly Ava started whining and crying like a child, Rose got sick of her childish behavior and decided to go to the party to make her shut up.
Later that night,
The Girls were all dressed up and ready to go to the party,Ava was so excited and hyper throughout the whole car ride,while Kyrah just laughed at her demeanor and Rose who looked so unenthusiastic even cracked a small smile at it.
The party was loud and crowded, it reminded Rose of a carnival of some sorts. People were either lost in the music dancing to the beat or some were just heavily drunk and high that they couldn’t even comprehend where they were.
Ava and Kyrah downed a few drinks already and were dancing happily on the dancefloor with each other, Ava doing weird but funny dance moves and Kyrah slowly following her.
Rose smiled brightly at the sight of her friends so happy. They tried dragging her out to the dancefloor but she disagreed,but they started whining, so she eventually agreed.
At first, she looked stiff like a rock, but slowly she started enjoying herself, letting herself get intertwined in the rhythm.
Just when she was enjoying herself, her eyes spotted someone-Grey.
he was making out with some girl, and he looked happy, she hated it.
She suddenly stopped dancing, and angrily walked towards Grey. Making Ava and Kyrah look at her in confusion, and they followed her curiously. She walked to Grey pulled him away from the girl and slapped him hard on the face.
‘How could you do this!’ Rose asked him.
At first, Rose was sure she saw a hint of sadness in his eyes but he quickly covered it up with a smirk.
‘What did you think I ever loved you rose, I never did I was just playing with you and I can’t believe you thought we were ever together, I was just with you because of pity.’
At those words,
Rose’s heart shattered, she thought he loved her, she thought they were perfect for each other, she thought he was ‘The One’.
Rose ran out of the party, Ava tried stopping her while Kyrah punched Grey’s face that it bled. She was feeling a thousand emotions at once, but most of all she was heartbroken.
She sat on a park bench, all the anger she felt broke out into tears. She hated herself so much at that moment, because even though Grey did all this a small part of her still loved him.
As she was crying and sniffing, she opened her eyes and saw an arm from the side handing her a tissue. She looked to her right and saw a handsome, no, gorgeous young man sitting on the same bench as her.
She took the tissue and thanked him for it, he suddenly asked
‘Let me guess boyfriend pushed you away and then cheated on you’ The man asked.
Rose nodded her head cutely in response,
‘I’ve been there too, millions of times
I’ve loved and I’ve lost but let me just tell you one thing
When You Are Broken And He Has Left You, Do Not Question Whether
You Were Enough, The Problem Was You Were So Enough He Was Not Able To Carry It.’
Those words hit hard for Rose, when Grey left her she blamed herself but never realized it might not be her fault at all.
The man smiled an adorable boxy smile at her, and then raised out his hand to shake
‘Theo’
She slowly held his hand then shook it and smiled softly,
‘Rose’
From there began something that would stand strong till death parted them.
(Back to the present)
‘Aww… so how are you and Theo going now?’ asked Belle
‘Well, there is only one answer to that question…’ Rose lifted her right hand and showed it to Belle. On her ring finger was a beautiful diamond ring.
‘Oh my god! You’re engaged!’ said Belle in excitement
‘Yeah, the wedding’s in two months, and guess what? ’Rose said
‘What?’ asked Belle in curiosity
‘You are one of my maid of honors!’ Rose said
Belle engulfed her in a bone-crushing hug and said ‘I’m honored!’
‘Do you have something to do next week?’ asked Belle
‘Yeah why?’ asked Rose back
‘Just wanted a day to hangout with you’ said Belle with a slight frown
‘Yeah, well we can hangout on Monday, I have a college reunion on Sunday’ said Rose
'Sure, well I've got to go now. See you on Monday!' said Belle
At the college reunion,
Rose got out her car, she was very excited for today, cause today was the day after so many years she will see her classmates and friends who she lost connections with.
As she got out of the car she saw a pregnant Ava waiting at the entrance of the hall.
She waved at her, and started walking towards her.
‘Rosie, hey! lets go the event has already started’ Ava said grabbing Rose and pulling her into the hall.
‘Where are you going?’ Rose asks seeing Ava walk off to another direction.
‘I’m going to the buffet, to eat, I’ve got to satisfy the little baby here you see’ Ava said pointing at her growing belly.
‘Your still such a baby’ Rose said shaking her head at Ava, while ava just showed her tongue at her and went away. Only if Kyrah was here and not in London, she would have someone to talk to that was an actual adult.
Rose’s eyes started scanning the crowds, she was searching for the gallery Kyrah had told her to visit she went for the reunion.
She opened the door that had a sign on it saying gallery, and what she saw shocked her to the core. She saw polaroids and photographs of her and her classmates hanging on the walls.
Despite it majorly being just photos of her... she saw a photo of her in class, one of her sleeping peacefully on a couch, and another of her dancing happily at the party where Grey broke her heart.
She was shocked but mesmerized at the beauty of each of these photos,
But a huge part of her was wondering who took them?
Her question was answered when the last person she expected to see, started walking towards in shock….Grey Woods.
Grey had not expected the girl to have come to the event he had made in memory of her, after the party and that night grey realized his mistake.
He realized that he should’ve loved and cherished her, when instead he just broke her.
He wished to meet her again, so this time he can love her right, and when he saw her at his gallery, he believed the universe had given him another chance to make it right.
‘Hi Grey’ Rose said with a genuine smile, her eyes scanned the pictures on the wall. This is also so beautiful, I’m proud of you’ Her eyes shone with admiration for him.
‘I didn't think you’d come even, it was a pleasant surprise seeing you here.’ Grey said returning the smile.
The air was awkward among the past lovers as Rose was looking joyfully at the exhibition and grey was just admiring how the more gorgeous the girl had become.
‘Umm…are you seeing anyone?’ Grey asked randomly as the girl was leaving
‘I’m engaged’ Rose said before smiling and then walking out door.
At those words his heart broke, he lost the girl who loved him more than she loved herself,
She tried comforting him and fixing him, but he just pushed her away and then broke her into a million pieces, he was happy for her, but still regretting his past mistakes.
In the end, both of them moved on after that day.
She found love and happiness in Theo, and Grey will find happiness too after the wound in his heart slowly heals.
That was how they lost the summer, but they found it again with someone who loved them even when they were broken.
